During the chat session a girl said she was saving money to buy a computer. She asked princess Máxima if princess Amalia also saves money. Máxime replied that she did, but she just gave all her money to a school fund raiser for Haïti, so she had to start again. Next year, when she goes to class 4 of primairy school, princess Amalia will receive a (very small) allowance, like most children her age do.

royalblog has some extra info. about the Máxima on hyves. the princess said that when she was a child she received an allowance of 5 pesos. Enough to pay the bus fair, the school lunch and go to see a movie one in a while. When she spent it all too quickly she would have to walk to school the rest of the month. Writing down her expenses was her way to make sure she wouldn't over spend.
