Are the Norwegian royals staying in their ship rather than in the palace or guest house? Do the Swedish royals have ship like the Norwegian, Danish, British, etc?
How come the King & Queen were not there at their arrival, only Victoria?

Thank you very much misshelen for posting all these wonderful, watermark free, pictures! They are all wonderful. It's been a wonderful visit by the Norwegians, both symbolically and looking at the activities they have carried out. Such a pity that Mette-Marit couldn't be here too.

I don't know where they are staying, it could be either at the ship or at the Guest Apartments at the Royal Palace. Maybe some Norwegian member knows (if your press has noted something about it)?

The Swedish Royal Family does not have a royal yacht or ship, only smaller yachts and boats in private ownership, they never make the kind of sail-visits that for ex the Danes do, they do their boating in private. The Norwegians and the Danes are the only ones left to have royal yachts, the British royal yacht Britannia was decomissioned many years ago now.

Victoria was the one to welcome them at the ship, there is always some of the royal or royals who go to do that, then they do the official welcoming ceremony together. It's always like that. When the Emperor and Empress of Japan came on a State Visit to Sweden in 2000 for example, one of the King's sisters, Princess Désirée Baroness Silfverschiöld, stepped in and welcomed them at the aiport.

More photos from the galla dinner (if they have been posted before, please remove the post!) It is from www.aftenposten.no they have series of photos of great occations.

http://www.aftenposten.no/spesial/bildeserier/article1107005.ece

In photo no. 4 Princess Madeleine (with a funny face) is chatting with the Norwegian minister of commerce Børge Brende, and in photo no. 5 CP Victoria is chatting with the Norwegian minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Pettersen. And photo no. 8 is just funny - I can't quite see what CP Victoria is trying to communicate to CP Haakon :D

The luncheon - yesterday Thursday:

Yesterday King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted a private lunch for King Harald and Queen Sonja in Princess Sibylla’s Apartment at the Royal Palace of Stockholm. Present were also Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Victoria, Princess Lilian, Princess Christina Mrs Magnuson and husband Consul-General Tord, and Gustaf Magnuson.

The menu consisted of:
* Duck liver with port boiled raisins and a terrine of apples
* Grilled light salted salmon trout with cauliflower pure and glazed scorzonera
* Chocolate jelly with stirred raw berries

The Gala Dinner - yesterday Thursday:

Yesterday King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted a Gala Dinner for King Harald and Queen Sonja. The Swedish Royal Family was also represented by Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Madeleine, Princess Lilian, Princess Christina Mrs Magnuson and husband Consul-General Tord, and Gustaf Magnuson. The Norwegian Royal Family was also represented by Crown Prince Haakon.

The 160 guests at the Gala Dinner were received in the White Sea, after which the dinner was taken in Karl XI’s Gallery.

The menu consisted of:
* Sesame marinated tuna fish with grapefruit salad
* Pepper glazed pikeperch with Swiss chard
* Fillet of beef with chanterelle sauce, potato soufflé and candied tomatoes
* Irish coffee pastry with warm figs

King Carl Gustaf led Queen Silvia to the table, and had Madeleine von Sydow, the wife of the Speaker of the Parliament, on his other side. The Queen was lead to the table by King Harald, and had Crown Prince Haakon on her other side. Crown Prince Haakon led Princess Lilian to the table. Crown Princess Victoria was lead to the table by the Norwegian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jan Petersen, and had King Harald on her other side. Prince Carl Philip led Anitra Steen, the wife of the Prime Minister, to the table, and had Princess Lilian on his other side. Princess Madeleine was led to the table by the Speaker of the Parliament, Björn von Sydow, and has the Norwegian Cabinet Minister Börge Brende on her other side.

After the dinner, coffee was served in the White Sea.

Rosalyn and GrandDuchess,
I think the royals stay at her ship "Norge". The royals came yesterday evening in gala-dress from board the "Norge" and the swedish royals go this evening for private dinner on board the ship "Norge (look to the pictures, you can see it).

Thanks to posting all the lovely pictures from this day.

Princess Lilian bag is witty. Maybe became to her 90th birthday!

Princess Madeleine and the late Queen Astrid of Belgium do look quite alike, especially when Princess Madeleine has her hair pulled back. They are both extraordinarily beautiful.

grevinnan

The are both very beautiful but don't look anything alike.

I'm quite sure queen Silvia was wearing Natan, Mathilde of Belgium has worn similar outfits - although not 100 % alike, but you can see it's the same designer.

Silvia has been wearing Natan for many years, I believe she has/had a brother living in belgium and that's how she descovered the house.

Yes, of course. And I believe that Queen Margrethe has once said in an interview or something that she practiced her Swedish and leart a lot of the language during her holidays at Sofiero with her Swedish relatives.

Oh my, if one wouldn't know better - one could almost guess that those two were in love, looking at that photo! :D

Crown Princess Victoria and Crown Princess Mette-Marit will visit Astrid Lindgren’s Children’s Hospital, where they will receive a tour of the hospital, as well as information about the prominent Nordic research at the hospital
Did Victoria do this on her own or was it cancelled because Mette Marit didn´t came?

As far as I understood by what the media said, it was cancelled.

This Friday afternoon/evening, the royal couples accepted a few questions by the gathered press after they had finnished their visit at the Nobel Museum in the Old Town of Stockholm. (the following is a summary of what DN, SVD and TT writes about the press meeting)

One topic was "Katrina" King Carl XVI Gustaf didn’t want to speculate whether the greenhouse effects has anything to do with “Katrina”, but said that it’s an alarm clock to watch how a well organised society like the US can be affected by a natural catastrophe and...

- That there is a climate change going on in the world is obvious, and we should take the responsibility

- It is not possible to get an overview yet, it just grows, and it is very scary

- This is like the tsunami

- I follow it every day on TV, and it just grows. It will take a long time before the affected areas can be restored

King Carl Gustaf also objected towards the rumours that Rosendals Palace might be a future home for Crown Princess Victoria:
- It is a museum, and one can’t live in a museum

The theft at Rosendal Palace worries King Carl Gustaf.
- Some great pieces from the Karl Johan time were taken. We have review the security at the palaces again. It’s a hard act of balance; one wants open palaces where people can come and look, and not have to lock up the things in a bank vault. But the thefts are rough today, just look at the hits towards the money transports.

Queen Sonja was moved by the visit to Mälsåker Manor House earlier on Friday. Her brother was one of the 13 000 Norwegian young men who where trained in secret in Sweden for the resistance troops during WWII, as Norway was occupied.

Queen Sonja also has a sister who was in the Swedish Women's Voluntary Defence Service in Luleå, and said she was very moved by seeing Mälsåker and hearing some of them who were there tell about the times.
- It was nicely presented, and we have to be glad and thankful that Sweden could help us in this way.

King Carl Gustaf and King Harald were in a good mood and joked with each other while taking questions. When Harald was asked the question what his grandchildren has meant to him, King Carl Gustaf took a step back and exclaimed, “That is your problem”.

Friday evening ended with a reception and the Norwegian royal yacht “Norge”.

Picture one is from Dagens Nyheter, pictures two, three and four is from Svenska Dagbladet.

Thanks for posting the pictures! Victoria looked good in her skirt and jacket, but the hat i don´t really like... a little boring. Can´t wait to see what they will wear tonight! I hope victoria has a new dress (and maybe she´s been to her mothers jewelry box and got her a new tiara, hope so :D )

I don't think it's a bad hat. And she used a Diana trick -- she matched her outfit to the colors of the Norwegian flag.

rop81 said:
I liked what Queen Silvia was wearing, beutiful dress and jewels. Sonjas dress I think we have seen to many times, the same with Victorias dress - even though I like it, but she has used it to 4(?) state visits now and that´s too many in my opinion. Victoria is really getting thin now isn´t she? hope she´s allright...

Queen Sonja's gala dress was too neon yellow.

They're from Natan. May I say Silvia looks much more elegant with them, Máxima's feet and legs were swollen up.

Pictures one, two three and four is from day one of the visit, Thursday 1 September, and comes from Fotomarktplatz. They feature Princess Madeleine at the Gala Dinner in the evening, as well as a seminar at the Bernadotte Library at the Royal Palace.

Pictures four, five, six, seven and eight is from day two of the visit, Friday 2 September, and comes from Eskilstuna Kuriren. They are all from the visit to Mälsåker Manor House in Södermanland County.

Victorias hat does her no favors what so ever but she and Haakon always look great together:)

I like that hat and that top is good, and we've seen it before, and that's a nice skirt. But yes, maybe the hat is too big but it sure looked sunny!

Thank you Larzen for posting these pictures, it's nice to see the royals and their outfits from so many different agles. Nice to see a picture of Princess Christina and husband Tord at the Gala Dinner too, it's a shame how little we get to see of them from these kinds of occasions - they're always in the shadow of the other royals, which is perfectly understandable. But anyway, it would be nice to see more of her.
