well... that invasion of their privacy is not just related to royals. everybody in the public scene has to live with that lack of privacy, and some of those famous people (let's say actors, singers, models, etc...) do not have sometimes an "all life patrimony" (jewels, art pieces...). moreover, the press must have respect with royals, and many of the "not so nice" details of their lives are and will always be a secret, while famous people's secrets are not only in the everyday public scene but they sometimes need to hear rumours that are just not true at all.

I believe that actors, singers, etc. are like royals in that they are are public persons, however unless an individual marries into a RF, they really don't choose to be royal. Whereas, actors, models, and so on choose to enter public life. They can back out whenever they choose and quit leading a public life. That really isn't the case with most members of reigning royal families.

I also disagree with your suggestion that the press respects royals. Once in history, there was a time when the media let royals be, but that time has past. You can really go to any internet search engine and find unflattering or critical articles about some member of a royal family. Who can forget all of the details of private conversations that have surfaced about the British royals. Their lives are really open books. The press in England is merciless at times in respect to the RF. Unflattering articles and critiques about Letizia were not hard to find before she and Felipe were married and I am sure that they will be more critical words of her as the years pass.

The truth is that many "not so nice" details have found their way into the spotlight. Secrets may be kept for years, but in our current age of information, there really are no secrets. They will surface sooner or even much much later. Also, these days if there isn't any gossip or sources to get "juicy" information from the papers and magazines simply invent things.

I was imagining it, though it did not know if finally there would be official funeral or not. The truth is that the fire has been a tragedy, a new tragedy this year, first that accident of the young men with the gas and now the fire.

1. Letizia has never said anything of which she should want a house in Asturias. The Government of the Principality often has thought that the Prince has a house here, but finally this idea has never removed to end. Many years before Letizia's arrival already she had appeared, but how always the journalists of the "capital" have not even idea.
2. I do not believe that the Queen gets angry with Letizia because she has the sunglasses put, more than anything because the same Queen takes them often, even in official acts.

Don Felipe and Doña Letizia arrived at the Iglesia del Fuerte de San Francisco de Guadalajara at 8:30 p.m., and gave the condolences to the families of the deceased. One of the families however did not attend the funeral mass and another one preferred to stay in a discreet place of the temple. The Princes followed the mass, celebrated by Monsignor Jose Sanchez, on the right hand of the great altar of the chapel of San Diego de Alcala.

One of the most touching moments took place when the Princes of Asturias gave the condolences to the relatives of the deceased and Prince Felipe had an affectionate gesture towards one of the orphans of the tragedy.

The certain thing is that they are having a year complicated in this sense. In the personal thing for the death of the grandfather of Letizia and that of the friend and distant cousin of the Prince who died in an accident of car.
In their public facet, Tolodella's tragedy with the young men who died through the fault of the gas, the anniversary of 11M, the funeral for the Pope, the condolence in the English embassy and now this.
And it only in what we go of year. It is the saddest and difficult part of their work and probably whom some we us would not like to have to face.

Inside the church, the Princes went directly to the banks where the families were. During more than 10 minutes, the heirs greeted, one by one, all the friends, sometimes with effusive hugs, sometimes with kisses and others with comforting words.

Then both sat at the left hand of the altar, which was profusely decorated with white and yellow flowers. From there, and visibly affected, they listened with attention the words of the bishop Sanchez.

You're right, Lucys. Since the engagement, Letizia has faced so many sad events in Spain that I think it has somehow matured her image as a Queen-to-be, because one actually sees that her duties as a Princess are much more demanding than just putting on nice clothes, as some people say.
