I believe so. Grace's mother-in-law was never fond of her and must have passed on her tiaras to Caroline instead. The tiaras belonged to Charlotte so she gave them to Caroline upon her death.

I didn't know it was the Empress Josefine's diadem. Someone told me that for the Monte Carlo Century Ball in 1966 her dress (the pink one) was a copy of a dress Eugene Of Montijo once wore.

Princess Stephanie jewels

I suppose what Stephanie is wearing here is a choker? I really love it! Is this one of the Grimaldi heirlooms?

Caroline's sale of Grace's jewels

Did she do it to raise money for a charity perhaps? Maybe she kept a few that she was particularly fond of and sold the rest because she felt they could more useful to a charity than sitting in a locked vault under the palace?

Shameful!!!

I think it is shameful that Caroline sold some of her mother's jewels to pay of Stefano's debts when he died. Please do not tell me that Rainier could not help out or that the Casiraghis wouldn't have helped?? Please!! Didn't the Casiraghis give Charlotte an island for her birthday when she was young??

We don't know the whole story

Who knows what made Caroline do it. There may be reasons for which we aren't aware. I try not to judge people without knowing the whole story. And this is the first I've learned of Caroline doing this. I'm sure there is an explanation. It may not even be a good one. It may be that she was young and stupid at the time, as many people experience a "young and stupid" time in their lives. I did!!!! I have done many things of which I am ashamed. So I can't criticize Caroline for actions of which I don't know the justification or cause of.

I can understand your feelings on this Casiraghi Trio. It was just when I read that she sold them off to pay debts, I was in shock. Princess Grace was a marvelous woman and I would hate that these jewels would be sold for no good reason and I pray they weren't. They should stay with the Grimaldis in Monaco for future members to wear. It was like the time I got upset that the Queen Mum sold some wonderful pieces of jewelry to settle debts. She sold a magnificient amethyst parure that I would die for. My thinking is, sell the ugly things that don't have an association with a specific royal unless you have to.

I don´t understand why Caroline sells them. She wasn´t so young:33 years old. If i was Ranier i would buy them!I think Caroline had other things to sold, or Rainier or the Casiraghis could help her.
Anyway she may has other reasons for sold them.

What about Albert?

So I have a question, If Albert marries than does he have to buy a new tiara for his wife? Because we all know Caroline inherited her grandmothers tiara's and she sold Princess Grace's old tiara's so it seems like there wouldn't be any tiara's for Albert's wife, or do you think Grace set aside some jewels for Albert if he ever married? I have no idea, does anyone know?

Grace was never allowed to wear these pieces as Princess Charlotte was not in the least bit fond of her.

I believe that Stephanie has worn some diamond earrings that belonged to Grace at several Red Cross Balls.
I highly doubt Caroline would ever sell her mother's jewels, of which there were not that many in the first place. The contention she did so to pay off her former husband's debts is ridiculous. Caroline inherited millions when she turned 21 from a trust Rainier set-up for the children.

Grace never wore Princess Charlotte's tiara or necklace because they were left to Caroline after the Princess died. In fact, she and her mother-in-law grew closer in her final years before Charlotte died.

I don't believe that Caroline would have sold her mother jewels to pay her husband debts. This must be inventions of the press. Does someone has a serious proof of that ?

Well THANKS auntie that REALLY helps! If anyone knows I am looking for a serious answer.

If Caroline didn't sell her mother's jewels then how come she never wears them? How come we haven't seen them on anyone since Grace died?
And I actually read it in a book that she sold Grace's jewelry but I have no way of knowing if that is true.

She did sale some of her mother's jewels, but the ones that were left to her. It was in the 90's and it was reported that she did so to settle some of Stefanos debts. In case some people think that she had a lot of money as a Grimaldi, yes; to pay stefano millionaire debts no.
However at least one of her mothers jewels PC has wore, the pins that make the La mer society tiara, the one that was given to Grace by the "society of les bains de la mer", the tiara itself is ugly, but it can be converted into pins, and PC wore them this year at the red cross gala. The tiara that Grace wore at PC wedding with Junot, PG bought it for that ocassion, she wore and sometime later she sold it.
