Most of the royals are travelling in the mini buses. Just seen Marie and Joadchim too.

After the royal dancing yesterday at the balcony, Queen Sofia letting Juan Carlos to get wet under the rain might be my favourite image of the birthday

Continuation of post 404: The prime minister is to speak now.

Best place to watch:
The NRK broadcast starts now - live streem:
https://www.nrk.no/nyheter/kongepare...ing-1.13508862

TV2 News Channel will have coverage with the eminent Kjell Arne Totland:
https://live.tv2.no/kong-harald-80-aar

Edit: The Prime Minister says that 5 million Norwegians feel that we own a bit of the King and Queen.

Edit: The cameras are thrown out - the King/Queen to speak later tonight.

Can do you tell us why 1998 was the couple's annus horibilis?

I remember that the guest list for previous Scandinavian royal weddings included ladies-in-waiting and/or adjutants of the royal guests. I don't know if they are also being accompanied by ladies-in-waiting or adjutants at this particular event, but I'd assume it is very likely that they are.

I wrote 3 long posts about the personal popularity of Norway's 3 monarchs and their impact on the popularity of the Norwegian monarchy and scandals who have threatened it in the Republic/monarchy thread - read them here:

And Joachim and our Marie arriving: Prinsesse Marie og prins Joachim med Europas kongelige til fest i Oslo | BILLED-BLADET
Notice how Joachim, as the perfect gentlemen he is, naturally holds both umbrellas. A true gentleman will never allow his lady to be burdened with such tasks.

A very happy birthday to the King and Queen of Norway They seems like a nice down to earth couple.

*

It was quite lovely to watch the live-streaming and see how happy both Mary and Victoria are for their husbands. I noticed how both Mary and Victoria put their arms arounds their husbands several times while arriving. Lovely to see.

Or maybe Victoria and Mary just were grateful that their dotings husbands held the umbrella for them in this miserable rainfall...
