He will be here until at least Sunday as he is here to close the Commonwealth Games. There has been no coverage down here of his visit that I have seen. There may have been some coverage of his attendance at the games but due to being at work I haven't been able to watch any of them anyway (my school is in camp week and so I am currently hoping that the Year 8s will go to sleep sometime before 2 or 3 am tonight. That has been their usual time so far this week but tomorrow night their parents can put them to bed and I can get some sleep.

I’ve seen him handing out medals and visiting different areas at the games. He, Sophie and the children are one of my favorite royal families just doing their job friendly and happily

Edward is currently doing ‘The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Real Tennis Tour 2018’ and his goal is:

Throughout 2018 HRH The Earl of Wessex will seek to play every Real Tennis court in the world – to raise significant funds to enable more young people to start their DofE both in the UK and abroad. At nearly 50 Real Tennis locations worldwide (28 courts in the UK), HRH will visit DofE centres, host fundraising events, meet DofE participants and volunteers, and test his Real Tennis skills by playing over 80 sets of tennis with young people and other community members.

Sophie did her cycling challenge and now Edward is doing real tennis. I’m curious to see if they continue with similar challenges and fundraising in the future, since it’s obvious they will take over The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Wonder if Louise and James will be doing anything for it when they’re old enough, I would expect so.

They have already taken over the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. Edward has been the Patron of the Award both in the UK and Internationally for over a decade now. It was one of the first things Philip passed on.

He past it on to Edward because Edward was the only one of his own children who did the award. I remember an interview with Edward where he said he didn't hear about the award until he was at school, which hints at how little the royals talk about what they do to their children if Edward had be be at high school to even hear of an award which his father did so much to set up.

I believe both Peter and Zara have also done the award - but then they also went to Gordonstoun. I don't know if any of the other grandchildren have done it but it certainly hasn't been reported anywhere that I can find. Kate did it though at Marlborough School.

Edward has had an extremely busy time away. He is also scheduled to attend the banquet this evening - he must be so tired! He didn't attend the opening ceremony today as it was in the morning and he would have been knackered.

I imagine he’s knackered and jet lagged. I guess he’ll get out of bed, attend the state banquet and then crash again.

He had two engagements for tomorrow, but now I see Sophie is doing the Commonwealth Canopy Initiative at the Royal Botanic Gardens and the other engagement has disappeared from the royal website. He probably realized he needs a day or two to recuperate.

So Sophie is now attending her engagement and standing in for Edward now too?

The old schedule said:

The Earl of Wessex
Patron, Commonwealth Games Federation will attend the Commonwealth Games Federation Sports Breakfast Meeting.
· 20 April 2018
The Earl of Wessex
will attend the Commonwealth Canopy Initiative at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Richmond.

Now it says:
20 April 2018

Nothing for Edward on Friday. It is, however, possible the webpage isn’t accurate, it’s happened before.
