Ah, baby aquatics .... I watched many years ago little ones in a pool being taught. It was called "water babies" and I was amazed at what these tiny ones could do. What a great experience too for the teachers.

This is great news. While we all know Charlene is more than capable as a Swimming Instructor, that's also w/Adults and Older Children and teaching Babies would call on totally different methods that Charlene wouldn't be as knowledgable or comfortable w/. Especially as this is her own Children.

I think it's so important to get little ones into Water Babies, Baby Aquatics, whatever program available as soon as they're able to handle it. I think we've all heard of stories where the Parents had turned their back for only a second and next thing anyone knew... At least this might give them a chance if the unthinkable ever happens.

Unfortunately no pics of the twins getting their lessons, but according to the instructor they were both naturals in the water. Thus confirming what both the parents have been saying about their swimming ability! A few pics with P Charlene, I like the one of them showing the certificates.

It is good news indeed! Charlene had already said in an interview that she wanted to put her children into water as soon as she could, and that they showed already attitude for swimming... maybe it is more curiosity than true talent at this age? Anyway, regarding the pics: I would have been very surprised if photos of them had been released, because the palace seem to control the quantity of photos for the public, and more so for the toddles...

It si a pity we do not see the babies in the pool but Charlene and Albert do not want that their babies are to much exposed in the medias
I think we will see them again the babies at the national fest in november.

What a wonderful update on their swimming!

And I'm glad there were no pictures. The parents are protecting the privacy of their children, as it should be. It's enough that we'll most likely see them on National Day in November. :)

i am really happy to hear this, as it shows that charlene not only "talks the talk" but "Walks the walk" - she is patron of "swim for life" and her foundation, Fondation Princesse Charlène de Monaco, actively invests in teaching children about swimming and water safety, and she is obviously not just preaching, but putting her kids through training she believes in.

it makes me excited to hear this in that it reinforces my idea that she is very authentic and very herself - no supporting of causes she doesn't stand by just because she has to. well done to her!

here's the message that the instructors put up on facebook about their visit and training with the little ones in monaco:

A VERY SPECIAL WORD OF THANKS to H.S.H. Princess Charlène, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and all their staff members for the most wonderful stay of our lives. It was the most incredible experience that any person can imagine. All the chats at the breakfast- and dinner table, the sight seeing, the various trips to town, the palace, the beach, the shops, the yacht and especially the day trip to Italy. Thanks to Secretary Clélia for putting so much time aside to accommodate us in every sense of the word. To Butler Anthony and Chef Anton for the most amazing service and food dishes freshly prepared from the garden. To all the Chauffeurs who always had to wait patiently for us when we were out having a good time. To Little Prince Jacques and Little Princess Gabriella who crept into our hearts with their most loveliest personalities and their exceptional swim talent and who both responded so beautifully to the training of the Self-Rescue Water Safety Lessons. To all the Nannies who assisted Lizette in her task with the babies. So many friendships were formed over this past week. MONACO and its people have such CHARM!!!
MERCI BEAUCOUP, À BIENT OT. NOUS VOUS AIMONS TOUS.
See you soon!!! From the BOTHAS of SOUTH AFRICA.

quite sweet in my opinion - charlene and albert are surely good hosts! i love reading this sort of insiders review.

If this story is true (which I doubt, to be honest): Why did the Princess flew a swim instructor from the other side of the Earth to France while there are thousands and thousands fantastic instructeurs de natation in France?

And all this for two babies... It is almost as if Madame does not have confidence in the skills of personnel in her very own new homeland. And... as a professional swimmer and Olympic participante herself... is she really not able to hold a baby in a little baby-bassin and learn it to swim ????

The story looks to be true
here is the picture of Charlene with the two certificates for Jacques and Gabriella

Mmmm, indeed not very good for the ecological footprint (if that can be said about a service) of Gabriella and Jacques.

Could that be the swimming pool at Rocagel?
I think I've seen pictures somewhere with a pool that could be covered with a roof like this one.

I can understand when a parent (with plenty of money) wants to hire the best-of-the-best to train his/her child to become a tennis player, swimmer, whatever.

But here it are babies, who have to "swim" in a puddle with some 30cm water or something. Come on... for such a "job" hire an instructor from South-Africa? There are no skilled and experienced instructors in Monte-Carlo, Roquebrune, Menton, Nice, Cagnes, Antibes, Cannes, etc. who can swim babies?

:whistling:

maybe charlene knew these ladies from her swimming days, or through her foundation and wanted to give them the opportunity to come to monaco following her work with them through her foundation? we will never know what went on in her head. i'm sure there's plenty of good instructors, but maybe charlene had a closer relationship with these people...

Duc et Pair, I usually find your comments very informative and it seems you are knowledgable about matters Royal ,but in this case I'm afraid you have it quite wrong.

1. The babies did indeed receive training in water safety. Are you suggesting that P Charlene would accept a certificate if her children had not completed the course?
2. It is quite possible that she has personal reasons for involving this particular instructor(as carlota suggested), or just that she trusts the lady's knowledge and skills.
3. Water safety for babies is something quite different from learning to swim. It requires a special knowledge and skill set to teach these babies. P Charlene can coach swimming per se, it is good that she involved someone who is a specialist in the field. There are many videos on YouTube on water safety, you will see it is not teaching babies to swim in 30 cm of water.

I am sure it is true as well .... maybe they were swimming around the pool/pot that is being stirred. :)

Perhaps Princess Charlene knows these instructors personally and is impressed by their work with babies and small children? Maybe she simply wanted to entrust her precious little ones only to people in whom she has the highest confidence?

Otherwise yes...it would seem a bit strange to send all the way to SA for swim instructors.

But Charlene and Albert have taken a no expense spared, nothing but the best attitude toward the twins since their births. Their sumptuous baptismal rites seem to have set the tone. And since they have the money to spend and don't need to concern themselves with sniping press or taxpayers, why not?

It sounds like those SA instructors were treated to quite a time...WOW. Albert and Charlene are wonderfully generous hosts!

I hope they get more down to earth as the thrill of new baby fades or well Charlotte really. I don't think Albert will ever grasp that concept as regards his darlings:)

:previous: I doubt it amaryllus. Something tells me that the two of them never really expected to have a baby, let alone twins...one of each. They are probably eternally grateful and experiencing a "pinch me" feeling each time they look at those kids.

I doubt if Jacques/Gabriella will be as spoiled and undisciplined as Albert and his sisters were, but there is no doubt in my mind that materially speaking, they will experience nothing but the best.

Then at least I hope it is balanced out by letting them see not everyone lives the way they do and how incredibly fortunate they are. This is Monaco though so that seems not likely.

I think that P Charlene in particular will make sure that they know how fortunate they are. Since she did not grow up amidst all this wealth she is very aware that many people struggle to put food on their tables. A part of her charity work is "to give back" to those less fortunate. She stresses this often and I'm sure she will instill this in the twins as well.

Heu... she is hiring a swimming instructor from South Africa, to fly to Nice and stay in Monte-Carlo, instead of asking Pauline, Manon or Inès from the Stade Nautique Rainier III (a very professional venue in Monte-Carlo where Europe's swimteams hold training camps and with an excellent École aquatique pour bébé nageurs). That does not sound as if she is "making them aware". More jet-set than hiring a swim-instructor from the other side of the world is hardly possible...

Well if we have a princess Veruca Salt or Prince Drako Malfoy in a few years then we will see who was right :)

I think that the twins are gorgeous and obviously have parents who love them. Who knows what goes on with any couple, between any couple but I suspect these two do not take their children for granted. Let them have a bit of privacy, Princess Caroline was complaining about being chased by pap's when she was a teenager.

The princess Charlène foundation is very presente in South Africa, Lyzette Botha , supported by the foundation will help in giving swimming lessons to the babies in nurseries in South Africa.
Princess Charlene invited her to know more on her methode, and she tested on the two babies .

Of Course, the instructors of Monaco would not go to South Africa to give lessons to the South Africa Babies.

Here is the story

read the foundation "s site, the South africa babies will receive swimming lessons

South Africa - 01.01.2015 - 30.06.2015 - South Africa - 01.01.2015 - 30.06.2015 - Learn to swim - Princess Charlene of Monaco fundation - Princess Charlene of Monaco fundation

Charlene is also showing that she has not forgotten where she came from.

Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella News 1: December 2014 -

Thank you, melina p, for clarifying. And as posters have pointed out, the Princess's choice of this particular instructor may be both personal and professional.

The most important thing is surely that the babies are safe around water, not?

Of course Monaco is just a state which fits in one's backyard and the Prince is almost autonomous. But imagine Princess Mary of Denmark hiring a swimming instructor from Tasmania or (then) Princess Máxima a swimming instructor all the way from Buenos Aires. I can already fill in the public reactions... Luckily they were (are) wise enough to make a professional choice. In Monaco Charlène can do that. Who dares to attack the Prince? The media? The Monaco Matin? There is not even a television station. In that aspect Charlène can do what she want.
