So, while I was enjoying posting some photos of The Duchess of Cornwall, it occurred to me that Queen Silvia is, GASP, missing from this list. Surely this is an oversight, if one takes into account the following dazzling images! I have to say, that Queen Mary is certainly the standard to set Dazzling by (I choose her over Alexandra because Queen Mary significantly added to the royal collection while Alexandra gave most of her pieces to her children and we never get to see them) but Queen Silvia wins hands down for our most Dazzling Current Queen!
First, I LOVE this gown. She's just elegant. The tiara is gorgeous, the necklace gasp worthy, the earrings amazing--

One of the most beautiful sapphire parues around:

You know what? Here's a link to Queen Silvia's gowns and jewels that she has worn to the Nobels--dazzling, regal, exquisite, breathtaking just doesn't even begin to cover this Queen.

And, in the most beautiful amethyst parue around

That is one gorgeous pearl necklace the Empress is wearing. It reminds me of Wallis' necklace that was just sold at auction:

I believe her necklace had been a gift from Queen Mary.

I've always thought that Queen Mary was the most dazzling lady. She knew how to wear her jewelry and she didn't let it "wear her" like many current royal ladies. I remember reading a description of her appearance at the wedding of Kaiser Wilhem's daughter and it was said that she was in jewels from head to toe but that it wasn't overpowering her due to her regal bearing. I don't know if there is a picture available or not.
As for current royal ladies, I have to agree that Queen Silvia is always most impressive with her jewelry and that she has a fabulous collection at her disposal. The same goes for QEII, but I do wish she would add a little color into her evening wardrobe of late. But white always goes with everything, right? I think Princess Maxima also knows how to dazzle with jewels. She has the right kind of personality and bearing to wear some of the bigger pieces.
Sigh...makes me wish I could have just 5 minutes to look inside every royal lady's jewel vault!!

I most definately agree with Janet and Boris re: Queen Silvia! She is ever so clever in her use of dazzling jewels. Always creative and unusual and surprising uses of them. Just wonderful !!

I think Queen Margrethe II. can also be added to the present Royal Ladies. Unfortunately she has not such a big collection to choose from like Queen Silvia but for example at the Wedding of Frederik and Mary she looked very regal.

Based on what I've read, Elisabeth 'Ella' of Hesse, the Grand Duchess Sergei was a dazzling beauty, decked out in jewels (in her pre-widow days). They say she and Queen Marie of Romania (and perhaps Queen Victoria Eugenie 'Ena' of Spain) were Queen Victoria's most attractive granddaughters. Ella's sister, Empress Alexandra was also a beauty but somehow her shy, introvert personality never gave her that commanding presence that her sister, mother-in-law, cousins, and aunt (Alexandra of Denmark) seemed to have...even decked out in imperial regalia.

In my opinion: Queen Silvia.
For me she's the most dazzling of all Royal Ladies nowadays.
Closely followed by Queen Margrethe II and Queen Elizabeth II.

I agree with Her_Majesty. The most dazzling royal lady is Queen Silvia. She is wonderful from every side!

Queen Mary was able to wear an amazing amount of jewels and make it look effortless, so I think historically she was the most dazzling royal lady. Currently, in terms of Queens I do think that Queen Silvia is the most dazzling--she really knows how to layer the pieces--and I enjoy seeing her weave those ropes of diamonds through her hair. She always looks amazing. For future Queens, while I do that Mary and Mathilde are beautiful, they don't really have the jewel collection to pull off "dazzling"--they have nice pieces, but not a large collection. I think that Maxima is dazzling in every way imaginable--her smile, personality, and the jewels she wears with little effort. I also agree with Chaimae that Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall dazzles and I believe that she will continue to amaze us with her growing jewel collection. I cannot wait to see what she puts on next!
