Bridal Tiaras at Past Royal Weddings
im asking you question about "borrowing tiara and new tiara"
mostly Royals borrowed from Queen's tiara from their wedding past for currently! and also if you have pictures from past and present.
I been know about Princess Diana wores Spencer tiara from her grandmother's tiara for her wedding in 1981 to Prince Charles and she wores Queen Mary from HM Queen 2 wedding gifts.
im not sure about Sarah,Duchess of York's tiara from wedding to Prince Andrew in 1986.
Sophie,Countess of Wessex she wores that currently tiara when she married to Prince Edward in June 1999 she kept that tiara for long times.
if you have more pictures of Royals? of past and present tiara?

Princess Märtha Louise borrowed Queen Mauds pearl tiara for her wedding, she has not worn it since, which is a shame since it looked so lovely on her.
Mette-Marit got her own Diamond Daisy
Princess Mathilde borrowed at diamond tiara from Paola for her wedding, she has not worn it since unfortunatly
Princess Claire got a tiny new one
Princess Mary got a small (ugly IMO) tiara that had not been i the family before
Princess Alexandra got an old that had belonged to QM, I dont think she owns it, sort of like a lone for life.
Infanta Christina borrowed the floral tiara from Sofia, but has worn it a lot since her wedding
Infanta Elena got one that belongs to her husbands family, do not know if she owns it
Letizia borrowed the Prussian heirloom tiara from Sofia, Sofia also used this tiara at her wedding.
Alexia and Alexandra of Berleburg both borrowed the Khedive of Egypt tiara which all of queen Ingrids female decendants have worn at their wedding (Margrethe, Benedicte and Anne-Marie)

Mabel borrowed a part a the sapphire tiara, a 2nd version of the tiara.
Laurentien borrowed the Laurel-leaf tiara.
Marilene, Anette of Orange-Nassau AND Margarita of Bourbon-Parma all borrowed the ears-of-wheat tiara.

Bridal Tiaras at Past Royal Weddings
I thought it would be nice to have a thread devoted to wedding tiaras of royal and noble brides.
As a starter for this thread I created this (rather in-expertly-done) collection of wedding tiaras from then now closing year 2010:
http://inlinethumb62.webshots.com/44...600x600Q85.jpg
In the overview I enclosed all the brides of which I found decent pictures, but I may have missed some weddings. Those in my overview are:
2010-06-? Princess Auguste von Bayern (married Prince Ferdinand zur Lippe-Weißenfeld)
2010-06-19 Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden (married Daniel Wesling)
2010-08-25 Tatiana Blatnik (married Prince Nikolaos of Greece)
2010-09-18 Freiin Iris of Dörnberg (married Prince Hubertus zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg)
2010-10-16 María del Carmen Moreno de la Cova Solís (niece of the Marquesa de la Motilla, married Jovino Alvear Pedregal)
2010-10-16 Laura Cecino (married Rafael Medina, Duke of Feria)
2010-11-20 Annemarie Gualthérie van Weezel (married Prince Carlos of Bourbon-Parma)
It certainly was a good year for wedding watching, especially because of the wedding of Crown Princess Victoria who had us musing and speculating for months about her wedding tiara. But there were other more or less well-known brides who wore a family tiara for their wedding.
P.S. Did I miss any of last year's tiara brides? I know that Princess Tatiana of Oldenburg wore a tiara at her wedding, but I haven't seen good pictures.

You have missed Tatiana's cousin Duchess Beatrix of Oldenburg who married a month after her. There are also no good pics from this Wedding but i think but have probably worn the small diamond bandeau from the Oldenbrug Family which was also worn by Duchess Eilika when she married Archduke Georg.
And for the next major Event in Scandinavia we have probably to wait until 2004 when Prince Henirk turns 80 unless there will be Wedding before.

Thank you, I remember this other wedding, but didn't see any picture at all. Of Tatiana I had saved at least a very small picture, that is why I took notes of her wedding. Unfortunately I don't know anything about this diamond bandeau. Do you have more information or pictures of it?

Thank you for the photos, Stefan .
It really is hardly possible to recognize that the Duchesses of Oldenburg are wearing a tiara. That is partly because the photos are so small but also because the tiara disappears in the veil.
CP Mette-Marit also only had a small diamond bandeau, but she looked lovely with the veil being fixed at the back of her head.

ok - here comes the next one.
CP Mary - who received a new tiara for her wedding.
Wedding Of Danish Crown Prince Frederik and Mary Donaldson - Pictures - Zimbio
There have been lot of discussions that this tiara is rather small and insignificant. However, I think it fits her style - classical and delicate.

Like most royal brides before her, she did not wear a tiara.

According to Leslie Field, British Royal brides did not wear tiaras, following the example set by Queen Victoria (who wore flowers on her head), until Princess Marina of Greece married the Duke of Kent (the current duke's father).
For British Royal Brides who did wear tiaras:
Queen Elizabeth II, then Princess Elizabeth, married Lt. Philip Mountbatten wearing the King George III Fringe Tiara, borrowed from her mother. The tiara's frame broke while she was getting ready to the wedding, but luckily the royal jeweler was able to repair it in time. QEII later lent the tiara to her daughter, Princess Anne, for her wedding to Captain Mark Philips.
Lady Diana Spencer wore her family's tiara, the Spencer tiara, at her wedding to the Prince of Wales. Interestingly, she wore the tiara above the blusher (the part of the veil that goes over the face). After the ceremony the blusher was cut off so it wouldn't cover the tiara.
Sarah Ferguson wore a floral headdress with her veil when she entered the church to marry Prince Andrew, the Duke of York. After her ceremony she removed the flowers and donned a tiara. The queen bought the tiara for the Duchess of York.
Sophie Rhys-Jones wore a newly-assembled tiara for her wedding to Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex. It was created from pieces dating to Queen Victoria.

Maybe Zara will wear the fringe tiara since it seems like the Queen borrowed it from her mother then Anne borrowed it from her mother for her wedding. Seems like daughters borrow the fringe for their wedding day. Just a thought

I read that Queen Victoria noted in her diary that Princess Mary wore a wedding tiara which was a wedding gift from Queen Victoria. I'm not sure if this picture is an actual wedding picture or if it was taken later. The tiara looks very much like the Surrey tiara, which is why it was later broken up to create her fringe tiara.

Detail of publication that shows the Surrey Tiara and the tiara that was gifted from Queen Victoria. They are quite similar.

Infanta Elena still owns The Marichalar Tiara even after her divorce, she wore it in CP Victoria's Wedding.

IMHO, the best was Princess Marie's bridal tiara.
