In commemorating 10th year anniversary of death of Christopher Shale, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi has shared pictures of his stepfather with a moving caption on Instagram.

Chrisdog, Pups, I can’t believe it has been 10 years. Not a day goes by without me thinking of you and leaning on all the lessons you taught me. You once said on my 18th birthday that being my stepfather was the greatest honour and privilege of your life. I echo this, being your stepson is the greatest honour of my life and I would never be standing here today without you. I know how proud you would be of us all today and so wish you had got to meet your 3 and soon to be 4 Grandchildren. What joy they would have brought you. I was just Wolfie’s age when you came into my world and changed everything.

You always believed in me, with unconditional love. You taught me honestly, laughter, hard work and empathy.

I love you today and always. ❤️

Not every stepfather treats his wife's children as his own.

Oh that is really lovely. This young man is not shallow, but has a deep rich soul. Goes to show it is the nurturing of being a parent that is the greatest skill. I wish young Eduardo and his Princess a long loving and fruitful marriage.

It is for a reason that Edo named his son after his stepfather; not sure how many stepchildren would do that (for their first son).
 
My mother named her son after her father-in-law and step-father. She did say, if she had a second son, she would name him after her father (who died when she was 4 so she had very few memories of him) but she never had that second son.
 
A touching tribute indeed, though not surprising knowing that Edo referred to Christopher as the only father he had ever known, named his first child after him, and followed in his footsteps with the Cricket Builds Hope charity.

It is interesting to read this as Beatrice referred to "the great honour to become a stepmother" in her piece for the Standard; clearly their conversations about their blended family drew inspiration from Edo's own experience in a blended family.

Indeed and I think we can see that the word step father/mother holds no negative connotations for their family.

I hope the Daily Fail will feature an article on this. It would be interesting to read the comments from people who are always accusing Edo of being a callow, thoughtless gigolo for daring to marry Princess Beatrice.:whistling:

That looks like a great holiday location.

I can't believe it's been a year either. One of my favourite royal weddings even though we didn't actually see much. I loved the idea of just going for it (as many people have decided to do this year) and having a tiny wedding with just the people that matter the very most.

And of course those amazing something borroweds that made it a royal wedding. ;) Gorgeous flowers as well.
 
Edo is finally showing signs of age how odd. Sweet thoughts!
