Again a work event for Daniel, which isn't at the calendar even now.
On Friday, 19th May, Daniel visited Bällstabergsskolan school in Vallentuna.
Vallentuna Municipality tells about the visit at their website:
Prince Daniel had wished to visit a qualitative, interesting and inspiring operation where physical activity and movement are in focus. The Court had been told of how Kerstin Nilsson, teacher/lecturer in sport and health, worked and therefore he wanted to visit Bällstabergsskolan. Nilsson has been working for a long time to increase physical activity in school with our children and young people, as well as raising awareness among colleagues and school leaders about this important subject.
Prince Daniel and Crown Princess Victoria are very interested in these issues and are initiators of GEN-PEP, a non-profit organization that works to spread knowledge and create commitment to the health of children and young people. Together with actors from all over society, the organization wants to pursue ambitious and long-term public health work with children and young people in focus.
During the visit, Prince Daniel participated at an outdoor sports lesson together with Class 4A. He met the students and talked about the value of exercise, play and physical activity. Prince Daniel also had an opportunity to meet class 4C who had a wordwalk, which means that the students walk three laps on a lane outdoors while practicing vocabulary. This walk is conducted every week since studies show that movement stimulates learning. During the visit, Prince Daniel also had a tour at the school yard and he played King with students in grade 3. Class 4C also showed up their classroom gym which they have created themselves to get a break during the school day.
The day ended with "fika" and Prince Daniel was very pleased with his visit. He thought the school was nice and that the students were very talented in the subject of sport and health!

On Friday, the students at Bällstabergsskolan received a nice visit. Prince Daniel came and participated in sports lesson and break.
Everything was secret before the prince appeared.
It was school sports teacher Kerstin Nilsson, lecturer in sport and health who welcomed the visit. The court had been advised about the school and her work with movement and exercise in children. A subject that interests Prince Daniel.
"It was a long visit. He was very humble, knowledgeable about the subject and interested. It was also easy for him to meet the children", says Kerstin Nilsson.
She was very careful with the information about the Prince visit. Neither media nor the entire school were informed.
"We wanted it to be as calm as possible. But I made sure the flag was hoisted in the morning", says Kerstin Nilsson
"We thought it was great fun", said the school's principal Marie-Louise Yllner Geuken, about the visit that surprised her, as well as the children.
The visit can be seen as an activity within GEN-PEP, Generation Pep, a non-profit organization. Prince Daniel and Crown Princess Victoria are the initiators of it.
To make children move more, is close also to the heart of the principal of Bällstabergsskolan. She has previously worked as a sports teacher.

Secret visit: Therefore the prince was at the Vallentuna School
Suddenly he stood there at the schoolyard. The whispering began to go along the corridors and at the schoolyard. Isn't it, it sounds like him, doesn't it?
Prince Daniel's visit to Bällstabergsskolan speeded up everyone, he was with pupils at the schoolyard and played ball games. "I do not remember the rules for King, tell me", he said, and the third-class students told him gladly and hung up at the schoolyard.
The royal visit was not advertised in advance, the prince wanted the students to be natural when he was going to check out how they exercise at the school. One of the few who knew about the visit was the gym teacher Kerstin Nilsson, whose work was also one of the reasons he wanted to visit the school.

GEN-PEP's project manager Carolina Klüft was one of the speakers at Nordic Health Convention held on 17th May at Svenska Mässan.
Carolina Klüft is Project Manager for GEN-PEP, an organization that works for all children and young people to have the opportunity and willingness to live an active and healthy life. They also work to increase engagement in children and young people around better eating habits. Carolina participates in the panel discussion at the Nordic Health Convention (NHC).
What are the main goals of GEN-PEP?
- To disseminate knowledge and raise awareness about the issues. It is important that we talk about these issues and I experience that we are on the right track. There are more and more who see the challenges we face and that Sweden must reverse the trend. We need to lower the thresholds so that more people get the opportunity to feel involved and get as many sections of society as possible.
GEN-PEP's work extends to cooperation with industry and universities and to create networks for those who are interested in and working on similar issues.
