The Mainau in Bodensee is known as the flower island. People come here to enjoy nature and relax. The tourism company Mainau GmbH ensures that this is possible. Managing Director countess Bettina Bernadotte tells what advice she accompanies in her entrepreneurship: "You get a lot of advice. I thought about which one is the one that has been with me for a long time. It comes from the Dalai Lama: 'Don't let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace'".
The clarity of this sentence has always accompanied Bettina. It is aimed at the personal, but for her as an entrepreneur and the boss of 320 employees, it is also of value in her professional life, because they already do things differently.
Bettina tells that she noticed Dalai Lama as a child because her godfather was a Buddhist. She has met him three times and even had a brief chat with him.

The year 2023 is green on the west side of Bodensee: the Napoleon Museum Arenenberg and Mainau GmbH, together with other partners, are launching the exhibition project “Green Princes on Bodensee” from the end of March.
As a symbol of cross-border cooperation, Mainau Managing Director countess Bettina Bernadotte together with Mainau Garden Director Markus Zeiler presented a coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) to the Arenenberg. They planted this on December 5, 2022, together with Daniel Brogle, head of Arenenberger Gardens.

On the Island of Mainau there has been Swedish Christmas Buffet from 17 November to 17 December 2022, from Thursday to Saturday.
In November and December, the chefs of Mainau Island spoil their guests with a traditional Swedish Christmas buffet, the "Julbord". After a Swedish mulled wine there are delicacies from the 6 traditional types of buffet. The guests enjoy fish specialities and traditional Swedish delicacies such as Köttbullar (meatballs). The meal is rounded off, for example, with Swedish almond tart, caramel pudding and apple dessert with vanilla sauce.

75,000 people in the Christmas Garden! Christmas light show on Mainau works
The second season clearly surpasses the first, 10,000 more visitors. And in 2023/2024 there will again be imaginative illuminations on the flower island.
Mainau Managing Director countess Bettina Bernadotte: "We are particularly pleased about the feedback from many guests that they have visited the Christmas Garden for the second year in a row and found it to be a great winter experience. For us, this confirms the success of the event in winter tourism on Lake Bodensee, which helps to secure jobs in the region and inspire people here in the long term”.
Count Björn Bernadotte referred to the successful cooperation with the Bodensee Ships: "In particular, the journey to the island of Mainau by ship across Lake Bodensee at night made the Christmas Garden a unique experience this season".

Start of the new flower year on the Island of Mainau
"We are starting a new flower year today and the journey into the past continues under the motto „Schlossjuwel und Gartenrausch“: In the orchid show, we will take you straight away into the fascinating world of discoverers, collectors and adventurers of the 18th and beginning of the 18th century 19th century. By the way, that was also the time of our Green Prince Nikolaus II. Esterházy, who will enter the stage of the park and gardens of Mainau from the end of May. The @inselmainaugastro will also implement our annual motto in culinary terms, for example there will be Esterházy cake. We are looking forward to your visit!"

Current Meeting - Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings

"The meeting of scientists from many countries, different cultures and several generations is at the core of the Lindau Meetings. We know from our Alumni that they take their time at Lake Constance home with them as an unforgettable source of inspiration, not least because of the global network they establish here," says Countess Bettina Bernadotte af Wisborg, President of the Council, describing the importance of the meetings.

Countess Bettina Bernadotte tells that an autonomous e-bus will soon be used. This should run between the entrance to the island and the Schwedenschenke car park. This is not the only innovation on the island.
The importance for the city of Konstanz and for the entire western part of Bodensee lake can be seen from the number of visitors alone: the island of Mainau is expecting a million guests this year. Things are looking good for the largest tourism company in the Bodensee region.
The flower island recorded more than 900,000 visitors in 2022. "This is a normalization step," explained Bettina Bernadotte. Before the corona pandemic, 1.25 million visitors came annually. With 75,000 visitors, the almost seven-week long Christmas Garden made a significant contribution to making Mainau an attractive place to visit even in the cold season. This year, the colorful light show will take place for the third time.

Sophia Bernadotte, daughter of count Jan Bernadotte, launches her own jewellery brand, SMMB.
"Playful, elegant and classic with a twist" - this is how Sophia Bernadotte describes the five collections when she launches the jewelry brand SMMB. After two years of work, the result was self-designed rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
- SMMB is the result of my passion for shapes, preferably soft shapes with inspiration from nature and the sea. For me, it is important to work sustainably, both with regard to materials and manufacturing. It is an ongoing process that never stops, says Sophia Bernadotte.
The jewelery is initially sold on the website and can be customized according to the customer's wishes. Those who wish can also book a personal meeting with Sophia.
The name SMMB is launched with the Wasa sheaf as a logo. It has beenin the family's coat of arms for over 500 years and all jewelery will also be stamped with both the SMMB and the Wasa sheaf.

Count Björn Bernadotte at Mainau Instagram 10 weeks ago
"Dear Mainau community,
my father, Count Lennart, always used to say: "Whoever God wants to punish, he gives to him an old castle." As Mainau's managing director and resident of a small part of the castle owned by the Lennart-Bernadotte-Foundation, I, count Björn Bernadotte, know what he meant by that. The baroque castle ensemble and the entire island of Mainau are under monument protection and old buildings always require difficult and costly maintenance. Since 2014, we have been using extensive renovation measures to eliminate dry rot that has infested large parts of the wooden beams in the roof. We are working on this mammoth task in close cooperation with the responsible monument protection authorities, the architects, craftsmen and our employees, to whom we would like to thank them from the bottom of our hearts. We hope that you will be able to enjoy the sight of our castle and our church again in 2-3 years without the scaffoldings."

Countess Diana Bernadotte about her Easter
Countess Diana Bernadotte (40) dyes Easter eggs with her children
"At Easter, my children Erik (12), Paulina (19) and I are especially happy about spending time together. We don't have a fixed Easter meal, but we always eat fish on Good Friday. We all decorate Easter eggs together on Easter Saturday and like to make a huge splash. For example, my last work of art in the form of an egg was a Ninjago egg for Erik,” says countess Diana Bernadotte, a trained milliner.
