Helicopter isn’t that high a risk especially when it properly maintained. Royals travel by helicopters all the time. A person is way more likely to get into an accident in a car or a motorcycle. For a car, William would have a police escort but he doesn’t have that with a bike. It would be easier for some car to take him out without even knowing it was William.

Kate didn’t the like the bike. William talked about how becoming a father changed him. He was more at risk for injury or death from the motorcycle so he gave it up.

My husband has worked with helicopters over 30 years...even in tip top condition they are high risk. Add his job of rescue (and we heard some of the stories) and yes it was a high risk job.

I haven't seen where he said he gave up the bikes...I just remember Kate commenting that it made her nervous because of George liking them.

The Duke of Cambridge will introduce new @heads_together workplace wellbeing initiatives, created in partnership with @MindCharity, at a conference on mental health at Unilever House on 1st March.

The Duke of Cambridge will visit @RoyalAirForce Coningsby on Wednesday 7th March. The Duke will meet RAF crew who operate Typhoons, and will learn how @rafcgy is engaging local schoolchildren in the physics behind real-life RAF situations.

HRH the Duke of Cambridge last conducted an engagement on March 23rd. THREE Weeks since. Where has he been and what has he been doing since then ?
There is only so much 'painting the Nursery' to be done surely ?

He was in spotted in Poundbury apparently doing Duchy of Cornwall stuff the week before Easter. The kids have been on Easter break the last two weeks so that explains the absence.

School holidays. Same pattern that Wessexes usually follow although this year Edward has covered CW Games.

Both Sophie and William are back at work today.

Thank you for the information DanyT and Cepe. I hadn't realized that spring break/holiday was more than one week in the UK. ?

And it can vary by school. George goes back tomorrow and Charlotte next week.

Public [ie Private] Schools have longer holidays than State Schools..

When I was at School, we had three weeks at Christmas, a Month at Easter and two Months in Summer ! Parents who 'stump up' school fees moan about it, and mine certainly did...

Private schools here do their own version of holidays. Some follow public school format loosely but add in holidays for religious observances (Good Friday etc) that aren't typically off. They have 'spring break' at different lengths/times.

Homeschooling parents have to adhere to whatever state guidelines have been set up for them.

Thank you for sharing. In my children's California school district we have 3 days off at Thanksgiving. Two weeks off at Christmas/New Year's and a week off around Easter. Also throughout the year we'll usually have six school days for local or national holidays: Columbus Day, Veteran's day, Lincoln/Washington birthdays and Memorial day. ?

So I can understand why we haven't seen much of the Wessexes or William in recent weeks as they are now the only working royals with school aged children.

This is pretty cool. A Masters in Pre Hospital Care

“We had HRH Prince William here to receive an Honorary Fellowship in January. He managed to let slip that he is now doing a Masters in Pre Hospital Care, and said he would be delighted to come back to events related to this long term interest, and I am delighted to say, also to sample some of our offerings around mental health. He also managed to tease me about my sudden inability to identify a couple of the guests who had travelled far for the occasion. But that gentle teasing was but nothing compared to what happened last week when HRH the Duchess of Cambridge came here for her last official engagement before going on maternity leave.”

Wow! Just finished reading the story of Crown Prince Frederik as the first royal to finish a university degree (although I leave the truth of his accomplishment to other historians on the forum), but it is interesting to know whether the Duke will be the first royal with a graduate degree! Bravo:flowers:

He will not be the first royal with a graduate degree. Princess Laurentien has a Masters degree and I believe 1 or 2 Luxembourg royals are even working on their PhDs!

Frederik the first?Oh really, well, all Dutch Royals do have a university degree they actually worked for...
But that's not what this tread is about...:)..

It’s likely the Duke of Cambridge will join Prince Harry and Meghan at an Anzac Day service at Westminster Abbey this afternoon, a palace source says. Richard Palmer (@Royalreporter)

Sounds like William is going to be taking on a duty today. Interesting that he'd choose a memorial service. Questions about his newborn son could overshadow things a bit. Or at the very least make things...I don't know. It just seems odd.
