A villa located in the region of Sintra was put up for sale for a value of around eight million euros. In the advertisement, it was stated that the owner was Don Duarte Pio and that, in addition to the size and all the adjoining estates, he had in the past deserved the preference of the kings of Spain.
The announcement of the sale of the house caught the dukes of Bragança by surprise. Contacted by Correio da Manhã, Isabel de Heredia, wife of D. Duarte, assured that the house of Sintra "is not for sale". "This is not our house, it's a mistake," he said.
The same newspaper tried to get in touch with the agency responsible for the publication of the advertisement, Real Estate Answer Convergent, but the only response was that "who had this information was the person who raised the house" and was no longer part of the team , so they did not know how to "answer the question" that was put to them.
The real house that is for sale is located near the dwelling of the Dukes of Bragança and gives the name of Quinta Nova de S. Pedro, dating from 1963. The same news says that this once belonged to Imelda Marcos, wife of the the late Philippines dictator Ferdinand Marcos, known for his large shoe collection, who was sentenced in November last year to up to 77 years in prison after being found guilty of seven counts of corruption.
