Mum of tortured kids appeals for royal help - Emirates 24/7
A Saudi woman is appealing for a member of the Royal family to intervene and let her take custody of her two sons who had been severely tortured by their father and his second wife, a newspaper reported on Monday.
[...]
She said Prince Fahd bin Sultan of Tabuk had visited her two sons in hospital and that his support had “largely eased our suffering.”

Sometimes even basic facts can be very hard to establish with any certainty.
For example...

Wiki describes the late Prince Khalid as "the oldest of the 22 children of King Abdullah."

while The Washington Post describes him as "the grand-nephew of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah."
.

Apparently the reports that came out were wrong, the Prince who passed away was Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Said. I am not sure how he is related to the King but he is part of the royal family.

Dazzling you mean prince khalid bin abdullah bin saud
and warren i know the kings family very well Khalid is younger than muteb but he is not the prince that passed away

His eldest son is khalid not Muteb . They call him abu Muteb after his late eldest son p. Muteb I ( elder then Muteb II & Khalid) who passed away very young .. then the king named prince Muteb after him.

A proposed Saudi counterterrorism law that would give the Interior Ministry sweeping powers and mandate jail sentences for criticizing the king would effectively squelch political dissent, human rights advocates said on Thursday.
The law would allow prisoners to be held without trial, and trials and appeals to be held secretly, Saudi and international rights advocates said. It would also grant the Interior Ministry broad powers including the ability to tap telephones or search houses without permission from the judiciary. - Source

Security forces shot dead a gunman as he opened fire on the Jeddah palace of Saudi Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz early on Saturday, said a source close to the government.
Another man was arrested during the attack in which "two men opened fire after midnight on the Qasr Shateh residence of Prince Nayef (and) the security forces retaliated, killing one of them," the source told AFP.
The men, who were only identified as members of the Zahrani family, were "under the influence of drugs" and one of them had a "small handgun".

The Saudi royal family is afraid. Very, very afraid. A crisis of leadership is brewing.
The king is ailing and his successor, Crown Prince Sultan, is in even worse health. Their hard-line brother, Prince Nayef bin Abdel Aziz, is set to take the throne.
One of the last absolute monarchies, the Saudi family seems to represent all that the Arab Spring is fighting against: closed societies with unequal wealth distribution; repressed minorities living within manufactured boundaries; strong Islamist sympathies across its lands; a latent Sunni-Shia power struggle embedded in the country’s fabric—not to mention a string of surrounding states struggling to stave off revolutions that could easily have a contagion effect.

And, thanks Kasumi for all the articles.

Wealth and Privileges of Saudi Princes

In late 1960s King Faisal issued a decree that every inch land of the country that was not officially registered to a private individual belonged to the Saudi royal family. Thus the entire country is treated as private property of the Royal family.
The King distributed much of the land to royal family members. Princes sold some of the land back to the state and some to the public, but most they kept for themselves. Inside major cities or out in the remote desert, the country's vast landmass remains private property of the Princes now numbering over 5000.
They also treat entire Saudi oil revenues as their private wealth. Every Prince or princess is entitled to a monthly salary starting the date of his/her birth. Minimum monthly salary for the prince is US$ 150K while princess is US$ 50K, which starts on the moment of their birth and continues up to their 11th birthday. Then the salary amount is re-adjusted with higher amount.

And what is the current size of Saudi royal family? According to information, up to April 1995, Prince Saud married into more than 30 tribes with 42 sons and 125 daughters. It was claimed that, the prince had married at least 1,400 women.
The size of the royal family now should be somewhere above 50,000 members. Almost all the male members of the Saudi royals are polygamists. It will be totally difficult to identify even a couple of princes in the Saudi royal family, who has just one wife and 5-6 children. In most nominal cases, it will be 10-15 wives with at least 3-35 kids. - Full article
