Thanks for the pictures everybody.

I see our Queen again have to go without her Henri by her side. That he will probably get some criticism for in the morning newspapers

Frederik and Mary looks lovely and relaxed as always.
You can't see our Mary just has landed after her flight home from her working trip in New York, that woman simply can't suffer much from jetlag ;-)

Tomorrow morning they will again participate in several events in connection with the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage.

Well, at least PH is legally excused, as he is on the Isle of Wright today.

DR1 will show the official celebrations of the 1915 Constitution giving women right to vote tomorrow, live from 09.00 (the show recorded today will be shown in the evening).
It will be shown on the DR1 sister channel DR2, so perhaps you will be able to watch it outside DK. Not least since the DRF will show up in force tomorrow forenoon.

Very sweet. :)

I cannot resist: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img537/8317/w5oKZb.jpg
Observe and admire how Joachim, being the perfectly dressed gentleman he is, naturally has a handkerchief in his breast pocket.
I notice not all the gentlemen present were similarly completely attired...;):p

Are you able to watch this live link?

It's from the official celebrations at the Parliament. The DRF will arrive in ten fifteen minutes after this is posted.

The weather is great BTW.

ADDED: The DRF will be received by the Presidium of the Parliament. Then they will walk to the montre where the Constitution is displayed and here there will be a photo call, before moving on to the actual celebration.

I think I can safely promise lots of pics coming up, because the weather is bright and sunny and Benedikte, J&M and M&F where waiting a while on the repos for QMII to arrive. - With no umbrellas needed

For once the PM was standing with the Presidium at the foot of the stairs to receive the DRF. Don't know why.

The 1915 Constitution was the first where the balance of power finally shifted to the Parliament and as such it ended the last remnants of Absolutism. I.e. that the monarch had or could have a final say or at least had a decisive
influence on politics.
That also led to the Easter Crisis a few years later where a frustrated King X sacked the government, without appointing a new government among the elected politicians. (But that's another story)
The 1915 Constitution is also significant in being the first truly genuine democratic constitution, because women were allowed to vote.

She's getting older, QMII. She's almost slumping in her chair and that's not like her!

First pic from BB: Kronprinsesse Mary og kronprins Frederik til kæmpefest i Folketinget | Billed Bladet

Good grief! Is it just me or does QMII decidedly not look well today?
Perhaps her back is bad? - Then the entertainment isn't something that would make you tap your feet!

QMII may have looked frail, but she is in top form!
She is right now giving a speech and it's hilarious!

The main topic is of course women's right to vote, but also domestic servants were allowed to vote.
Among the many funny details in her speech, she told an anecdote about her grandfather Christian X, who was known to be an arch conservative and when a deputation of what in English could be called suffragettes came to pay their respect to the king after the change of the Constitution, one of them exclaimed: "Your Majesty, this is the happiest day of my life". To which Christian X retorted: "Well, I think you should go home and make your husband a cup of coffee".

- QMII deservedly got an enthusiastic and long applause.

Trivia based on article in Billed Bladet #24, 2015.
Written by Ulrik Ulriksen.

Perhaps the most significant change to the Danish Constitution took place in 1915 and among the most well known changes was that women were allowed to vote and that was indeed the main focus of the celebrations the DRF took part in.

First at a gala concert on the evening of the 4th June. And except for PH, who was in England, the DRF showed up in force.
Our Marie was seen wearing sandals by Jimmy Choo.
While Mary wore a Burberry Prorsum silk dress. A Bottega Veneta clutch, Valentino Stilettos and Kharisma earrings from Marianne Dulong.
The main celebrations however took place on Constitution Day the 5th June at the Parliament and here QMII gave a very witty speech that rocked the house!
QMII pointed out that the change not only allowed women to vote, but in the words used back in 1915 also: "Madams, servants (domestic and farm, who lived in the home of their employer), the poor, the ruined (economically ruined and indebted) and the silly".

BT reports that PH along with Joachim and our Marie visited the entertainment park Bakken (the hill) in Copenhagen.
Royalt besøg: Prins Henrik fik raget skægget af i Korsbæk - Royale | www.bt.dk

Here they visited the latest attraction a reconstruction from a fictitious town called Korsbæk, from a much loved TV-series called Matador (Monopoly).
The reconstruction includes actors who play out various scenes from the series as you move from house to house.
Both Mary and Marie got Matador on DVD to help them learn Danish but first and foremost to learn about Danish mentality.
And indeed Marie seemed to find the place very familiar.
PH got a shave from the barber, while a couple of actors dressed as the characters from the series fuzzed around him.

After this little visit the trio went to the Circus Revue(*), that also takes place at Bakken, and here PH was brought to tear with laughter when he watched the much beloved actor Ulf Pilgaard make a parody of PH.

Bakken, that was established about the same time as Tivoli in Copenhagen, around 1840' 1850's something, was initially an amusement park for the common man, while Tivoli was the amusement park for the more respectable citizens. Decent people, let alone ladies, wouldn't be caught dead at Bakken! Good heavens, what would the vicar think?!?
But PH is very fond of Bakken and he is visiting the place every year as we have seen so often in this forum.

Here is a visible proof that whatever faults PH may have, lack of self irony is not one of them. Ulf Pilgaard as PH: http://multimedia.pol.dk/archive/00937/cirkusrevy_ulf_9370_937026a.jpg

A closer look at the trio: http://www.bt.dk/sites/default/files-dk/node-images/405/9/9405039-royalt-besg-i-korsbk-p-bakken.jpg

Mostly for other Danes: I see PH is wearing his Johnny Reimer outfit. :p

(*) The summer revues are an old tradition here in DK, where more or less professional ensembles deal with current events in a loving and satirical way. The DRF of course being a favorite target.
The Cirkus Revue is highly professional. usually Ulf Pilgaard make masterly parodies of QMII, but this year he thought PH deserved the honor...

:previous:thank you Muhler for all the background info :flowers:

My does Joachim looked tanned or what?

And i do hope when the time comes, Henrik leaves all his colorful coats to Joachim, as the rightful heir of his father's colorful fashion sense :whistling:

Prince Henrik, Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim surprised the local population of Trend when they joined them for the lightening of the traditional bonfire welcoming the Summer, yesterday evening. The Princes were in the area for a hunt and decided to attend the celebrations, talking with the locals and takings some pictures. After seeing the bonfire, father and sons rejoined their hunting party.

Thank you, Blog Real and Polyesco. :flowers:

So they have been hunting in the area of the Trend hunting lodge.
I don't think any of the children were with them at the lodge though. The school summer holiday hasn't started yet.

Nice to see PH being most comfortable.

What a lovely Tradition to welcome IN the summer. I am sure we don't have anything like that here. Some farmers here have harvest festivals though.

A video of PH, our Marie, Joachim and friends going to the Cirkus Revue, I told you about in a previous post: VIDEO: Prins Henrik ser Cirkusrevyens parodi på sig selv | Billed Bladet

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #26, 2015.
Written by Henrik Salling.

As you can tell people spontanous applauded when PH and co entered.
The main item of the show was in this case the actor Ulf Pilgaard's parody on PH. Something he and he guests appear to have enjoyed.
However, PH had explain a few details to his daughter-in-law, who sat next to him.
No doubt because Ulf Pilgaard spoke with a phony French accent, with deliberate wrong pronunciations that makes a word mean something completely different in Danish. So no wonder if Marie missed a couple of nuances.
PH aka Ulf Pilgaard confided to the audience that he he is doing some shiiting (shooting), but that chamberlain, Christian Kjær is easy to hit... (Visibly making PH and co cracking up as you can tell in the video).
Because PH's very good good friend, and (well build...) hunting buddy, Christian Kjær was there too with his wife, Susan. So was Anna von Lowzow and husband Klaus, as well as a nephew of PH, Charles Henri Keller.

During the intermission the party went backstage to meet the actors. After the show the party went to enjoy a dinner together. PH said about the parody: "It was a good parody. Funny. Just as it should be".

PH aka Ulf Pilgaard, made several references to becoming king during his parody. :p

They're hunting? And not wearing neckties? An open-necked shirt on Joachim? I'm shocked!! Shocked, I tell you  What is the world coming to? But it's nice that someone gave PH a comfortable seat.
