Crown Princess Victoria's Hikes in the Swedish Provinces: 2017-2018-2019

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Västerbottens-Kuriren about Victoria's hike in Lappland 25th April:
The crown princess played dodgeball with pupils at the Skytteanska school, which is part of the school's health promotion work.
- She was a bit good, but I do not think she eliminated anyone, said student Hampus Lorentsson.
Then the Crown Princess received a quick course in Sami before visiting the Sami school. She greeted the students with "buerie aerede" (good morning in southern Sami)
- Amazing, I received a response, said the Crown Princess, pleased that she pronounced the newly-learned word correctly.
There was also outdoor activity at Sami school. A game where the Crown Princess, the governor and the municipal council Tomas Mörtsell and some of the students took part.
- Thank you for that I got to come and visit you, said the Crown Princess before the visit continued in Ingemarbacken.
The Crown Princess begun skiing at Hemavan at lunchtime. After riding a gondola on the mountain, the skiing started with downhill skiing towards Kungsleden.
- So gar, so good, said the Crown Princess after the run-up.
There were many who followed at the skiing trip. School students and staff from the court and county administrative board and others. There were also natural guides who, during different stops, told about nature and culture.
The Crown Princess met later in the day Eden and Marklund family from Umeå, they were on a trip on the mountain.
- Where is your dress then?, wondered Elin Eden, 4 years. The Crown Princess explained that it is not good to ski with a dress.
- Where are your children then, wondered Ingrid Marklund, 3
- They are at preschool, told the Crown Princess.

On her hike in Närke:
The Crown Princess took a medal in identifying species
The sun shines when Crown Princess Victoria arrived at Närke to make a province hike there over the day. She hiked through the nature reserve Sörön and Kvismaren, on to the "snakes' paradise" Öby Kulle, where a bunch of Natursnokarna waited for to get challenge Victoria in identifying species.
Natursnokarna are the children's and family activities of the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation and they were eager to test the Crown Princess if she managed to identify ten species on her walk. After she got right over ten species - including brimstone, common hepatica, aspen, oak and alder - she received the medal Stenfalken.
- She made it swimmingly. In addition, she learned new species such as lesser celandine, whitlow grass and Eurasian bittern. Next time she meets Natursnokarna out in nature, she will definitely be able to take the Tornfalken medal, said Åsa Wistrand from Hopajola, an ideal nature conservation association in Örebro, which together with the County Administrative Board, the Nature Conservation Association and a host of other associations was part of the day.

These walks have been great. Victoria seems to have a great time!

The royal court about the hike on Gotland at their website:

On Friday, the Crown Princess visited Gotland to carry out her eighth hike in Sweden's provinces. The hike was carried out on the northwestern part of the island.
The day started at Harudden where the Crown Princess met with local ornithologists. The Crown Princess also received information about the Hall Hangvar Nature Reserve and Klintkustleden.
During the tour, the Crown Princess met landowners who were given the opportunity to tell them how to take care of the landscape and care for the nature reserve.
The hike continued later on the beach and in coastal forests. The Crown Princess and other hikers stayed in Norstad's fishing site, where they heard about the Gotland fishing situation
After lunch the hike went on to Sigsarve beach. On the way, the Crown Princess received information about the archaeological site at Stiftingsklint. Local orientation clubs then gave a brief orientation lesson.
After that, the Crown Princess tried rod fishing at the beach.
The final walk went between Sigsvare and Svarthäll. At Svarthäll, the Crown Princess received information about the accessibility work planned on the site.
Kronprinsessans vandring på Gotland - Sveriges Kungahus

During Friday it was time for a hike on a sunny Gotland. On the northern cape of the island lies Harudden, and from there Victoria's hiking in the Hall-Hangvar nature reserve started.
The Crown Princess began by testing bird watching.
- So many swans, she said as she glanced over the shallow beach.
A few kilometers later she greeted two working horses who pulled timber in the woods in the nature reserve.
- I ride in the summer, on Öland, says Crown Princess Victoria when she was asked about her horse interest.
She walked over 10 kilometers with over 200 people along the dramatic coastal strip.
But she also enjoyed the nice weather in peace and quiet. In the middle of the walk the crown princess turned off from the path.
- You go, I just want to stay for a little while by myself, she told the group, starting to go into the woods.

We learned more about the Hall-Hangvar Nature Reserve and how nature conservation and entrepreneurship are connected. We learned about old forest and saw how North Swedish horses work with nature conservation in the forest. During the trip we got also an orienteering lesson and got to try rod fishing. It was a wonderful day for a hiking trip and our beautiful cliff coast was shown from its best side in the sunshine. We hope that the Crown Princess had also had a nice day!

Maj-Britt Landin, the chairman of Ölands Vattenråd (Water Council) told to Victoria about Gräsgård's harbour and they discussed also about the the water crisis the island had. Maj-Britt Landin says:
- So fun that she comes here and it is very nice. She is so down to earth.
Elin Mård and Jonas Lobeck from the third grade at Torslundaskolan participated in the entire over 15 kilometres hike in the eastern nature.
- It's fun to go and the best thing was to meet the Crown Princess. She is very nice and we talked about what we are going to do this weekend, says Elin Mård.

The children guided the Crown Princess through the World Heritage Site
Torslunda school students welcomed the Crown Princess Victoria to southern Öland and followed her on the hike through the World Heritage.
- How fun that you are with me, so I do not have to go alone, Victoria told the children at the beginning of the hike.
Crown Princess Victoria performed her provincial hike together with governor Thomas Carlzon as host. But those who really guided the Crown Princess over the lake meadows and Alvaret were the children in class three at Torslundaskolan. They first handed her this year's World Heritage postcard and a bouquet of cowslips.
Crown princess Victoria could not have had a better day for her island hiking. Sparkling sunshine and almost no wind. Skylarks were singing and the northern lapwings gave their squeals when they walked over the meadows.
On the walk there was Head Director of Ottenby's Bird station, Magnus Hellström, who brought the Crown Princess into a low bird tower. There she caught a binoculars while he was telling about the island's bird life.
The island guide Eva Åkerstedt guided the Crown Princess in the eastern nature. Together they went down to the grass to see Early Marsh-Orchids, cowslips and almond blossoms.
Getting to Öland is in a way like coming home for the Crown Princess, who is well acquainted with the island. But in a conversation with the deputy mayor Henrik Yngvesson, she told him that she hasn't visited southern Öland many times.
- A little of the meaning of these hikes is to come out and see that there is so much beautiful, she said.
After the first stage of the walk, it was a short break for coffee in Gräsgård's harbour. Here too, the public was waiting to receive theit Crown Princess, and she met them with the same relaxed style she often does.
- It's like talking to anyone, says Bertil Johansson who, together with his wife Anna-Greta, was given the opportunity to change words with the Crown Princess.
- It was hardly seen who she was when she arrived. We have a wonderful queen one day, says Anna-Greta.

- She really took the time and talked a lot with both students and others. Many curious people have come to meet her and we have had 40-50 people who have walked with us, says Christina Karlberg, County Administrative Officer.
Among other things, the Crown Princess was able to visit Eketorp's ancient castle, Gräsgård's harbour and Ås church in Ottenby. Victoria also tasted a buffet from local produce.
- We have shown what the farming landscape has produced and she thought it was very good. She has never been to southern Öland before and now she is here at the best season and the best weather and she is lyrical when she sees the surroundings here, says Karlberg.
The Crown Princess was also curious about the effect of water shortage on Öland.
- We have told how we worked with water shortages 2016 and now how we will work to prevent it happening again, says Karlberg.

Victoria says: I am a very proud Öland inhabitant in the summer. I have spent all my summers here on the island. And I must say that I'm very happy that you have chosen to spend this day together with me. And that is the meaning of these hikes I do, that I want that more people got to see that fine and want to experience that exquisite we have. I hope that you too have had a great day and I hope you have been inspired to do more hikes like this.

ROYAL: Victoria wandert durch die Provinz Öland

From Facebook of LRF (Lantbrukarnas Riksförbund) Sydost (The Federation of Swedish Farmers Southeast)
Wonderful day when Crown Princess Victoria visited Södra Öland's farming province.
LRF Southeast was of course in place, and municipality group chairman Roger Gustavsson told about the conditions for farmers in this particular environment. In addition, LRF's Rose-Marie Winqvist welcomed in Eketorp Castle with a brief presentation of the food strategy and the terroiratlas. Local food producers offered a wonderful lunch!

"An amazing province hike is over. Around 70 people have followed HRH Crown Princess Victoria through Southern Öland's cultivation province, all or part of the route.
During the walk, the Crown Princess has received the premiere of this year's World Heritage postcard from the students at Torslundaskolan. She watched birds and saw the sea eagle at the lake beds in Seby's villade. At the Gräsgård's church, outdoor mathematics was shown on the programming mat.
At Eketorp's castle, the Crown Princess made a boasted debut with a long bow (three out of three hits)! Along the way to Ås church, the Crown Princess received new knowledge of the World Heritage of a bunch of ninth-grade classmates from Skansenskolan. Henrik Andersson told about the work of the county administrative board, municipality and farmers for the water shortage 2016 and the measures taken then and thereafter.
At Ås Church, nice summer songs were performed by a children's choir and information about eelgrass beds told by Rita Jönsson. The Crown Princess finished the day by thanking all contributors for a wonderful day"

http://3.t.cdn.belga.be/belgaimage:136271680:1800x650:w?v=5ad07f35&m=pcdhfakb

Victoria's speech, she said among other things:
You know how children are, they never want to stop swimming. But when Estelle finally got out of the water, I realized she was very sandy. I started brushing her the sand, as you do. But it was difficult. It remained. And then it struck me: "Wait now, this is a rocky beach. Where does this sand come from? "
So I started looking closer, and then I saw that these grains were not brown and gray like sand usually was. But they were blue, yellow and red. There were microplasts!
I have the privilege of being ambassador to the UN's global goals. In that role, I have chosen to focus especially on marine and water issues. So it is clear that I knew that plastic in the garden is a giant problem. Nevertheless, this discovery on the beach became an eye opener for me. It became so apparent.

We asked the governor of Jönköping County Helena Jonsson what she is looking forward to most with the hike.
- It will be nice to meet the Crown Princess in such casual event and be able to show some of what Småland has to offer. Hopefully we get nice hiking weather.
We asked the governor of Kalmar County Tomas Carlzon what he is looking forward to most with the hike.
- I think the Crown Princess's initiative with hikes is amazing, primarily because the public can accompany, exercise and look our beautiful scenery.
We asked the governor of Kronoberg County Ingrid Burman what she is looking forward to most with the hike.
- I look forward on showing the Crown Princess the beautiful nature of Småland and its hiking trails. Here you will find the water, the birds and the biodiversity.

The Crown Princess turned out to be interested in rare lichens in our perfect forest. At today's province hike we showed the nature of Åsnen National Park. Ospreys, dragonflies, Labrador teas and dead mole with exciting burying beetles among others.

Sveriges Radio P4 Kronoberg talked with Victoria when she walked to the inauguration of the National Park.
Victoria said: It's a big day. Sweden gets its thirtieth national park. And this whole day, everything that has been outdoors, the amazing nature .. And so we just came with a boat to this beach and the reception ... We go to the inaugurating ceremony. So it feels very special.
Kronprinsessan i Kronobergs län (The Crown Princess in Kronoberg County)?
Victoria: It sounds good.
To dress to this day, how have you thought about it?
Victoria: It is a day that has very varied programs. First and foremost, there is the hike in the stunning province. But we will also come to an inaugurating ceremony, which I see is solemn. We open a national park, it's a big moment, where we can really highlight how we care and protect our nature and environment. And we have been in the woods. There are quite a lot midges. I focused on long-legged and long-sleeved clothes.

From Facebook of Växjö municipality
"Today at the inauguration of Åsnen National Park, Pilbäckskolan school in Växjö had an important part. Pupils from there actually took care that H.R.H Crown Princess Victoria got food in her stomach after her hike through the nature reserve. Meatballs with macaroni and vegetables for main course and krabbelurer (small pancakes) for dessert the kids and the Crown Princess made together. The students also taught the Crown Princess to knit the macramé. She then knitted a bracelet and now wears it as a nice memory of the day."

- That she came to us was great fun! I think it will be an extra pride for the village. And tourists may open their eyes and think it's worth coming here to visit the place, says Helene Pettersson.

Victoria says: "To come out on a day like this, and to be able to really experience and enjoy of everything exquisite we have. To be outdoors gives a very good foundation to talk about big and small questions. We can then really emphasize the importance how we take care and protect our nature and environment. We are getting again a National Park and it is a great moment".

Victoria said at her speech among other things:
We have a great responsibility to protect our common nature and cultural heritage. It's about protecting and preserving. But also about opening up and making available to more. So that more people get the opportunity to experience these unique environments. And so that more people get a relationship with them, and want to be with and nurture them for the future.
There Sweden's national parks fill an important function.
