She looks lovely. Love the creative bouquet of flowers she recieved.

Indeed, they are neatly made.

It's not the first time Mary has received a bouquet of Lego-flowers IIRC.

The purpose of the awards is to recognize and create awareness of the best research in Denmark. The prizes are awarded annually to younger researchers who, with their basic research, contribute to solving global challenges. This year's five EliteForsk award recipients received DKK 1.2 million, of which DKK 200,000 is given as a personal honorary award, and DKK 1 million goes to research activities.⁣

Aha. The first international state public school.

AFAIK most if not all international schools in DK are private.

Beautiful photo of Mary

"Principal Dominic Maher is himself from Australia - just like the Crown Princess, and when the two talked together, you could clearly hear the dialect from "down under". At the school, 19 different languages are spoken, but today's event took place in English and Danish - and that tone the Crown Princess quickly fell into. Mary thus asked questions in both Danish and English when she spoke to children and teachers.

- I would like to say a very special thank you to Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary, because you wanted to come and inaugurate our school today.
You yourself have an international background with English as your mother tongue. You have in the most beautiful way with your own story shown what it means to come to Denmark: To learn Danish and unite your original culture with an everyday life in Danish society. You are a great*role model for the families we welcome to our new school today because you have shown them that anything is possible, said Mayor Holger*Schou Rasmussen in his speech."

And with her new LiW, Henriette Ellerman-Kingombe.

Kingombe isn't a Danish surname. Ellerman is, presumably her maiden name.

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #31, 2021.
Written by Ulrik ulriksen.

Mary recently went to the island of Lolland, some distance south of Copenhagen to open the very first state-international school in DK. International schools are otherwise privately funded (albeit with subsidies from the state).
That school is for incongruous reasons placed in the town of Maribo. - Perhaps it's got something to do with the bridge between DK and Germany that is to be build in the coming years nearby?

Anyway, wearing a good looking dress by Morten Ussing Mary arrived and was received by an endearing five year old flowergirl named Eva. Apart from that it was very much the pupils, of whom many had dressed up in their finest who found Mary endearing and she got a couple of spontaneous hugs.
The locals in the good town of Maribo used this opportunity to turn the event into a mini-town party. Even jokingly referring to their town as Marybo.
So the mayor was there to give speeches and there was entertainment and the head of the school, who happens to be an Australian (*), told about the school.
The school can accommodate 100 children, currently there are 55 of whom half are children of parents, where at least one is a foreign national. The rest are local children from immigrant families.

When leaving Mary said to our reporter: "They are gorgeous children and it's fantastic with this new international school on Lolland. It's been a really good visit.

- Of course such a school is not set up by the state because the children are gorgeous. It's part of making DK more attractive for foreign skilled workers. We are in serious need of skilled people here! Unskilled too for that matter. Up to some 40 % of businesses here have had to decline orders due to lack of skilled workers. Especially withing the construction sector and service sector. That's because the economy is booming. We are back at the level at 2006, with an expected growth in the GNP this year of more than 3 %.
So public schools aimed at foreign workers that are free of charge like all other state schools, should be an additional lure.
So I guess we will see quite a few more such schools pop up all over the country.

(*) There are Australians all over the place! I really have to pay attention, lest I bump into one when turning a corner. (In fact there are 2.205 Australians in DK at present.)

I see that Eske Villeslev is one of the recipients of this research award.

He is a world leader in ancient genetics and he's a great presenter of his field.
I should very much like to be present at a lecture of his - no matter the topic actually.
His brother is manager of the National Museum and has managed to dust a lot of old dust away and make the museum more presentable and attractive to an ordinary audience.

Thank you for your prolific and highly informative posts on the activities of the royal family. They provide so much more clarity and understanding about the official agenda.

The Crown Princess visits the Danish exhibition at Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo Da Vinci. There, Her Royal Highness will, among other things, be shown around at The TrashFormation Village, where the Danish sustainable design firm Lendager Group has designed a chair made of plastic waste and wood. During the visit, The Crown Princess will also have the opportunity to meet with the participating Danish design companies exhibiting in Milan. A portrait of The Crown Princess made from recycled material will be presented during the visit. The portrait is a part of the project “Scart Initiative”, which consists of a number of portraits produced from recycled materials and exhibited during Milan Design Week.

Thanks Polyesco! That's actually a pretty cool portrait IMO. BB has posted a video from the event showing the portrait.

BT has an article: https://www.bt.dk/royale/kronprinsesse-mary-til-bt-i-milano-det-er-langt-fra-nemt

In which Mary admits that it sure isn't easy to try and live up to your own expectations in regards to sustainability and climate awareness in connection with the consumption as a family, but they try as best they can.

Of more immediate interest to this forum are these photos in good quality:

Her visit so far has been well covered in most media worth mentioning here in DK - not least because this is very much about Danish export, within a field where we really try and brand ourselves as among the world-leaders.
Good money to be earned, you know. :D

Thanks Muhler!

The photo in the third link made me chuckle. Her expression looks like she's thinking: "Okay I got into this char, now how to do get out of it....gracefully?!?!"

I also cannot get over how amazing that portrait is! The more you look at it, the more of the items used that you notice.

Nice to hear the visit has received good coverage!

What struck me the most about the portrait is that it is the style you use when depicting a monarch or a queen consort. Except Mary is looking left.

When I saw Mary "float out", as we call it in DK, in that chair, it looked to me like she'd like to remain there for a while. The chair looked surprisingly comfortable.

The portrait looks very regal indeed! What do you mean by looking left? Is there a specific protocol for which way the individual must be facing/looking?

Re the chair: Maybe I was projecting my own trepidations of sitting in a chair like that and then not being able to get out of it...lol

Yes, on coins, the monarch/regent couple look to the right.

Yeees, I know the feeling about not being able to/not wanting to get up from a comfy chair.

On another note. Historically the Spanish Inquisition used such chairs to extract confessions.

ADDED: A BT video from Milan/Milano, where some of the photographers reportedly addressed Mary - somewhat prematurely - with Majesty.

And additional details about her attire yesterday: https://www.billedbladet.dk/kongeli...-flot-design-mary-smuk-i-silkelet-sommerkjole

And trivia about the infamous chair she sat in yesterday:

It turns out Queen Ingrid sat in the same Wegner-chair 34 years ago.

Wegner chairs are really sought after!
