But the British Royals are not stars and the royal watchers are not "star-watchers"!

The British Royal Family is part of the political constitution of the UK! And King Charles and the Waleses may not have the finger on the red button for the British nukes, but the Royal Family is well integrated into the political, military and cultural leadership of the UK.

And the royal watchers are the most active part of the society which keeps the Monarchy alive. Without them very few Monarchies in the Western World would continue to flourish.

And is it so unpolite and rude to ask for more than a blurry pic with a sunglasses wearing Princess?

Yes, plain and simple. Medical privacy is a right protected by law. The Waleses have, very kindly, requested that privacy be respected.

I think Maria-Olivia makes a fair point. I stand firm with the Wales's in establishing a solid boundary with the public in regards to the PsoW's medical history, health, and recovery. However, as public servants at the top of the nation, they are provided with the best medical service and private care possible. I would not expect the PoW to completely step away from his family to assuage the public, but the children are at school and they are easily afforded private duty care, so I believe it is not too much to expect the PoW to be more public currently and help lend a sense of normalcy. The PoW's actions, I believe, are helping lend fuel to the fire.

ETA: the PoW is probably still deeply affected by the hysteria around his mother's death and the way the BRF was pushed out of private grief into a public spectacle. It may be another reason for him standing so firm and remaining out of public view.

Kensington Palace releases first picture of Kate since surgery

Princess Kate, 42, has been recovering from 'planned abdominal surgery' since she was admitted to The London Clinic on January 17.

I mentioned a few weeks ago doing a picture for Mother's Day would be the ideal update on Kate

Kate looks blooming; perhaps the photo will put an end to some of the conspiracy theories claiming that she is at death's door.
As for William's absence at the service, there could be any one of a hundred reasons, and he evidently isn't interested in explaining.

Yeah, no, now it is “it’s an old photo”, “it’s photoshopped”, “where is William?”, “no rings!”, “Louis’ fingers!!!”. Endless.

How handy Mother's Day came along to help and put the Wales' PR out of their misery.
 
The problem is, no matter what they say or do, the loons on social media will claim it's evidence of XYZ. They post a photo of Catherine and the kids, they'll say it's an old picture. If they post a photo of her holding today's newspaper with the date visible, they'll say it's Photoshopped. When I said earlier that I thought KP didn't handle all of this very well, I wasn't advocating for them to give us intimate health details. Only, you can't be coy and vague about what is going on and not expect crap like that to happen. You feed the loons every time.

Personally, I think Catherine and the kids look lovely, and I hope they have a wonderful Mother's Day today.
 
A perfect picture for Mothers Day and such a clever, yet simple idea to get William to take it. I think it was probably always the plan for there to be a picture released on this day as Kate has done so in previous years.
 
It's a lovely photo and perfect occasion to release one. It's unfortunate, in this current climate, that my eyes immediately scanned the photo for things the conspiracy theorist might pounce on. That being said, it really is so lovely to see the PsoWs. For me, she adds so much heart and warmth to the Waleses.
 
What a great photo. HRH The Princess of Wales looks really healthy in it. HRH Prince Louis of Wales, is so tall, and he's wearing long pants now! HRH Princess Charlotte of Wales has baby and adult teeth now, so cute! This is the happiest I've ever seen HRH Prince George of Wales, but he's always more relaxed in personal family photos.

From the beginning, KP has said she would be recuperating until Easter. And as I've understood it, that would be the best case scenario after what sounds like a big procedure. To the best of my knowledge, I have not yet been off on Easter holiday (🥲), so what's the sudden rush?

I feel so sorry that she has to go through this on top of major surgery and I sincerely hope she won't feel forced to reveal more about her private health than she's comfortable with.

I might agree re: questioning William's actions related to ex-King Constantine's service, except that the service was a family event, and not part of William's program of royal visits and patronages.

That is one way to spin it, but in my view, not the correct way. They always release a photo like this on Mothering Sunday.

Yes, but due to the Princess' surgery and recovery I was doubtful such a photo would be released.

Maybe that’s why the palace gave Easter as the target, to manage expectations, if they had said Mothers Day and it had not happened the conspiracy theories would have grown even more arms and legs.
It is obvious the palace is now going to be accused of reacting to SM by producing a photograph today, I posted earlier in the week that they were in a no win situation.

Part of me hopes that Catherine and William chose a photo with Louis holding his fingers like that to mess with the online conspiracy theorists.

It is a lovely photo.
 
At least 3 international pictures agencies refuse to distribute this morning’s photo of Kate and her children. The AP has claimed “the source [the palace] has manipulated the image”.
