I was shocked, shocked I tell you, to see this misinformation, used as a photo caption, in the erstwhile Times.

It will certainly be corrected soon:
“Both Kate and the King were treated at The London Clinic. The princess was admitted a day before her father-in-law, who had surgery on an enlarged prostate on January 17

Lazy journalism. Really, nothing and nobody pays attention to detail any longer.

Agreed. Utterly ridiculous that they couldn’t get such basic information correct.

Glad to hear Catherine’s well enough to go home.

Glad HRH The Princess of Wales is home. It must be such a relief for her entire family.

At least she'll be near to her children again. She'll be recuperating for two months.

I'm so glad that she's back home with her kids! Its very interesting that no photograph of her has appeared. I'm very glad that the press have honoured whatever agreement was made to ensure they didn't publish any photos, as she deserves the privacy. I do hope that she recovers quickly and fully.

Bunte online, the German tabloid, reports, that Princess Catherine is now living in Adelaide Cottage at the premises of Windsor not far from the castle Windsor.

The cottage is said to be freshly renovated and was the favourite of Queen Victoria. There interior is absolutely splendid, says Bunte.

But the cottage has only four bedrooms - so. one for Catherine and William and one for each of the kids... That means none for any staff. I hope, this is good news and the Princess fit enough to manage everything.

They moved there some time ago, they still have staff but they live out, there will be plenty of cottages etc on the Windsor estate for the staff. The staff will come in daily, maybe extra for the time being but they will still have staff.

I hope that Princess Catherine can take it easy and not do too much during her time of recuperation.

I also hope that she doesn't feel compelled to start working after Easter if she's not fully healed because that's the time they gave for her recovery. The body will heal when it heals, timelines be damned.

The Waleses (at that point Cambridges) moved to Adelaide cottage in the summer of 2022, before the queen died. I don't think Catherine's job now is to manage everything. That's up to William while his wife recuperates

They still have a full staff. Nanny, housekeeper, part time housekeeper, driver etc. They just don't live in the same building.

Kate isn't going to be managing the house and chores.

The Waleses have all gone to Sandringham for school half term, which started on Saturday, according to media reports.

It's great news that Catherine was well enough to travel to Norfolk. Hopefully they will be able to spend some time with the King while they're there. I imagine a visit from his grandchildren will be a great mood lifter.

That is indeed good news and that they will all be able to spend time with the king!

I can imagine, it is a very complicated situation - not only for the King and the Princess with their medical problems - but for the still young Prince William too.

After the time of grievance for his grandma, when he got his feet back, he was surely in some kind of planning mode for his new official role: what can be changed and modernized, what to keep, how to interpret the open spaces. In short: He was probably making plans about doing something, something important.

And now he can't be active, he can't be doing new stuff - just sit and wait helplessly.

So, I think, it is a good idea, that the family will come together!

It’s not exactly “sit and wait helplessly”. The King is being treated as an outpatient for cancer at what by all accounts is a very early stage, and is going around from place to place while he does so. Catherine is recuperating from surgery and will hopefully make a full recovery, or be in better shape than she was before needing it.

It’s not fabulous medical news, but it’s not the roof caving in, either. William has to prioritize the kids, and if he wants to take his mind off after that, he has plenty of work he can think about. (There were rumors even Catherine is doing whatever she feels able to.) He’ll be picking it all up again soon.

I would be surprised if the kids could see Grandpa unless it is under COVID-like conditions. Face masks and social distance for everbody.

I have been amazed that the media has so busy looking for the "real" truth while ignoring the reality when it's right in it's place. The reason the King is not doing "Front-Facing" duties is because his immune system will be severely impaired by his treatments. The kids are going to be face-timing or chatting at the window because as loveable as they are, they are still a primary school Petrie dish.

Well said. I have no doubt the King has withdrawn from public engagements primarily to avoid picking up bugs whilst his immune system is compromised as a result of cancer treatment. This may also mean that time with the grand children may be limited, or restricted to outdoor walks etc.

Obviously you're immunocompromised during chemotherapy treatment but it's also vital not to isolate yourself completely. In both my professional and personal experience, having children (who obviously care about the patient but usually aren't as aware of the potential gravity of the illness as adults are) around, especially grandparents, is such a great boost of positivity (on the patient's own terms of course).

Depending on the regiment, combination of medication and dosage, you're most at risk for infections 1-2 weeks after treatment when the white blood count is lowest. During that period, obviously you stay physically away from the patient if you feel even just slightly poorly. Outside that one week period, it's perfectly fine to see one another as long as you maintain proper hygiene.

When my grandmother underwent chemotherapy, one of the most heart-breaking things was her reaction to people keeping their distance to her. Her oncologist had assured her it was fine to be around people as normal outside the period of her leukocytes being at its lowest but so many people treated her like she had the plague all throughout treatment. No doubt most meant well but they unintentionally caused more harm than they did good.

I wish Kate a speedy recovery, but the press release is poorly written. By being so vague it is inviting speculation, especially when the hospital stay and recovery time is so long. Right away, they have to deny that it was cancer related.

There is an information vacuum, and it will be filled with rumours and wide speculations. This is more so since Kate is young and in the prime of her life. If she was in her 70s like Charles, you can just blame it on old age. But for someone in her 40s to be in the hospital for 2 weeks? People will have questions.
How KP handled this was very different in the way Buckingham Palace handled the diagnosis of the King. I wish KP used the same transparency :(

It should be an annus horribilis in the UK, first the Duchess of York, later Kate and now Charles

Yeah, but still: We do not walk in their shoes. We do not know, what their motivation is. They might have their reasons. Sometimes openness causes more confusion, than secrecy...

We know that the King has cancer. We don't know what kind, what stage, or what treatment he is receiving.

We know that Kate had abdominak surgery. We don;t know for what, only that it wasn't for cancer.

I don't see much difference between the two. Charles, at the moment, is physically able to be seen at church, in the video etc That may change.

Let them both choose how to handle their illnesses.

Prince of Wales pulls out of memorial service due to personal matter

The Prince of Wales has pulled out of a memorial service due to a personal matter, Kensington Palace has said.

William had been due to attend a memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece at Windsor Castle.

Kensington Palace would not elaborate further but said the Princess of Wales, who is recovering from abdominal surgery, continues to be doing well.

The Prince of Wales called the Greek royal family who are attending the service to let them know he was unable to attend.

Hmmm...that is very strange and also disappointing.
First, the Prince did not attend the funeral of his godfather and now he does not attend the memorial service for "personal reasons" (note not family) .
It's also interesting that KP, reiterated that the Princess of Wales is "recovering well" so as not to blame the Prince's absence on the Princess' health.
Very strange.
