King Constantine (1940 - 2023)

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I believe that the memorial service at Tatoi will be private, and it will be similar to February 2023, Queen Anna Maria, Queen Sofia, Princes Pavlos, Nikolaos, Filippos, Princesses Alexia, Theodora and Irene, and Princesses Marie Chantal, Nina and Tatiana and Carlos Morales........ I don't think there is press.
Regarding the 27th, we cannot forget that the Royal Family has not issued any statement. I do not know the source of the journalist who has spread the information. I believe that we should wait for an official statement to be issued.

Andreas Megos is the unofficial spokesman for Prince Pavlos.

Andreas Megos is not an official or unofficial spokesperson for Prince Pavlos, he is a follower of the Greek Royal Family who collects information, statements and interviews published in the press. . The information about the memorial service is from the journalist Chrisla Georgakopoulou, who made it public on a program on Greek television. The television channel asked Prince Pavlos, and he did not want to say anything. Prince Pavlos did not want to express himself on the subject.Hours later, Andreas Megos published what Chrisla Georgakopoulou said as if it were a statement. The official representative of the family is Ivi Macri. The information does not originate from the Royal House, it is information from journalists, it is not official

The memorial service by King Constantine is private and there are no images, at the moment, but it can be said that neither Marie Chantal nor her children will attend, because the television cameras have captured Prince Pavlos leaving his residence , and he was alone

A photo of the memorial in front of the tomb of King Constantine, as you can see it has been very private

Marie Chantal was not there, Prince Pavlos has arrived at the cemetery together with his mother Queen Anne Maria. In Nikolaos' car, Princess Tatiana was in the passenger seat.

A nice close family turnout for the Memorial Service, the absence of the Crown Prince's wife and children is no real surprise.

Absolutely shocked by Marie Chantal's absence.
Not one of the 9 grandchildren attended either.

I'm disappointed but not surprised with Marie Chantal, because she should have attended. In this memorial, the infantas Elena and Cristina of spain have been present , this image is from a video, they arrived at the restaurant in the same car as their mother Queen Sofia, and their aunt Princess Irene

she is Elena. The Greek press has not recognized them, but in the videos they can be seen behind their mother.

With the children it could be because of University/school etc. But that is no excuse for MC's absence.

Carlos Morales wasn't present either.

Nor was Matthew Kumar.

Carlos and Matthew are not Crown Princess of the Royal House of the Hellenes, They are not even princes. Nina and Tatiana are Princess , and they were there

Carlos Morales has been married to Alexia for nearly 30 years, it has NOTHING to do with titles. This is about family.

Matthew was/is so integrated in the family that he was sat in the front row with the rest of married in-laws at the late King's funeral.

Their absence is a shame, as is Marie-Chantal's.

The Laurel Wreaths by:
-Queen Anne-Marie
-The Crown Prince family
-Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana
-Princess Alexia, Carlos Morales and their family.
-Princess Irene
-King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia
-Infanta Elena
-Infanta Christina

The absence of the titular Crown Princess is more shocking!

Was however nice to see the Spanish Infantas present with Queen Sofia.

This morning on the Greek television program, they have speak with Prince Pavlos, in Athens, it was said:

The next January 10, there will be the funeral in memory of King Constantine with the closest people and in privacy. On January 27, in London with the presence of King Charles another funeral will be held in memory of King Constantine

I ' m afraid, again no Charles, no William on Januar 27th ....

Seems there is no memorial Service today in London or they have cancelled/postponed it.

I was thinking the same after waiting the whole morning for it.

x2.
I hope the memorial has been just postponed and not cancelled altogether. Probably making time for Charles.

It was, if memory serves well, planned to be held at St Margarets church next to the Abbey, but they don't have a memorial for him scheduled in nearer future...

The rumor that a memorial was going to be held in London came from a program on Greek television, one of its collaborators said this, and even stated that there would be invited Royal Houses... However, the Greek Royal House has never said anything about this Memorial in London.
Last year, in February, there was a similar situation....
On December 18, Prince Pavlos visited the Orthodox Archbishop of London, and the photos were published on the official website of the Orthodox Church. We all thought that the reason for this meeting could only be the preparation of a memorial, however, we do not know the reason for that visit.

For that reason, we have believed in the rumor of January 27, but the reality is that there has been nothing official.
Days after the annual memorial, held on January 10, Tatiana announced that on the 24th the new Prince Nikolaos exhibition would be inaugurated in Florida, from the 24th to the 28th. Since then I have had doubts about the veracity of the information.

The reality is that there has been nothing official, even Prince Pavlos has not left Athens in all this time.

This morning on the greek Super Katerina program, this man, Mr John Chountis, who claims to be an advisor to the House of Lords but who is dedicated to talking about the health of Princess Catherine, like if he would a expert in it. He has talked about the Princess's state of health...After, the journalist asked him about the king's memorial , and he answered this, that it was moved by health of King Charles to 27 of February, including the date, which is Tuesday. He has spoke like an expert on the private life of the British Royal Family, however, he has no relationship with the Greek royal family.

In the same program they captured Prince Pavlos at the airport leaving Greece, after a month, he did not about it memorial, he said ""I haven't left Greece since Christmas. A year has passed, life goes on, we love our father, we live our lives from now on and we are next to our mother", said Pavlos. (Excuseme me, I have corrected it, because there were parts in Spanish, I copied and pasted it from a blog in Spanish).

I don't find the reschedueling due to the health of King Charles III all that far fetched. I imagine a reason they wanted to organise a memorial in London would be to enable friends and family of the late King to pay their respects. As King Charles III will be by far the most important of this group friends and family, it makes sense to postpone it.

True. But why was this organized so late anyway. It is 1 years since the death of the late King. Is that usual for greek-orthodox Wonder why the did not organize something for autumn last year.

I don't know if this is rumor or true, but this memorial service seems very strange to me. I think that a memorial service for King Constantine in London should be: A mass in the Orthodox temple of Hagia Sophia, with the presence of friends, representatives of organizations such as the IOC and others, Round Squared School..., with which King Constantine was linked, and the British Royal Family, with King Charles and other Royal Houses such as the Spanish one, with Queen Sofia and who knows King Philip, and also the Danish Royal Family, with for example Queen Margarethe...

But a memorial service for King Constantine, in Windsor Castle with the presence of King Charles, and private...It is strange.King Constantine was Orthodox, he was not Anglican

King Constantine was not just a relative (and from the point of view of the british Royal Family, he always remained a monarch!), but also a personal friend of King Charles for decades! I´m sure, the dashing, olympic gold winning Constantine was a role model for the younger Charles back in the 1960s. Charles took part in the wedding ceremony of the King and Queen in Athens and King Constantine was chosen to be one of the principle godparents of Charles´s eldest son. So, in that regard, remembering King Constantine is not about religion or denomination or about Constantine´s own faith, but King Charles´ way of honouring his late cousin for the very last time.

Isn´t this the usual royal way and a tradition of doing things like this? Autumn last year was no specific reason to mark the King´s passing, but exactly one year after is! Prince Philip´s memorial service was also held one year after his passing. And King Constantine´s private memorial service in Tatoi, Greece, has also been held just recently exactly one year after he died.

I agree that the memorial service would be more beautiful in Hagia Sophia in London, but Wartenberg7 is right. I also understand that King Charles and the late Queen Elizabeth considered King Constantine another member of their family, if you think about it, Windsor, it is the Castle of the Royal Family, Buckingham is the castle where they exercise the functions of Heads of State. Celebrating this memorial service in Windsor, this gesture, it may have a deeper meaning, King Constantine was for King Charles a member of his family. And that's why the whole family wants to celebrate it together at Windsor Castle.

As far as i recall of Princess Margaret or the late Countess Mountbatten it was so 2-3 months after their death but not as late as over 1 year. I think with Prince Philip it was an exception because of the Pandemic.
