Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations: 2022

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Was just watching the live feed from the royal box and saw Wolfie come across to talk to Mia Tindall and Savannah Phillips and then go back to his seat. Lovely to see him included in the celebrations!

Yes, and the GG of New Zealand is behind him, and I think Jamaica in front of him.

Thank you.:flowers:

I wonder whether the Canadian GG is there too. Edit - yes Her Excellency is in London according to the Rideau Hall website

The NZDF Maori were a splendid site in the earlier military parade. But it is very cool here today so hopefully they've got warmed up by now!

Second picture in the link - isn't that the Australian GG talking to a women (wife?) in a purple hat? 3rd row up.

The Australian contingent - army, RAN, RAAF - were very smart. As they all were of course.

Would have been great to see the RCMP!

It certainly looks like the Governor-General of Australia, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC FTSE .

I reckon that the Australian Assistant Minister for the Republic was not invited? Sorry, that is not meant to be taken as a serious question.

The opening with Her Majesty and Paddington was simply marvellous! What a lady!

Priceless. Props to who came up with idea. And HM for executing it!

So we got the balcony appearance now with the "slimmed-down " Royal Family.

It is unfortunate that the Queen looked uncomfortable, but she'll be able to take it easy now.

It is the future monarchy, just as they clearly set out at the 2012 jubilee.

We got HM with the nest 3 Kings and their Families

Except that not all chidren and grandchildren of the next probable King were present. Aren't they also part of the next King's family? Or is the criterion also "working family" as opposed to plain "family"?

Besides, that is the Queen's last Jubilee, and its final picture should be about her family. not the future King's, or the next King's after that. Hopefully they will live long and also have their own Jubilees to celebrate.

I hope they release a wedding album type Jubilee group picture later. For posterity.

BTW, I just noticed that Prince George is already almost as tall as the Queen !

What a wonderful end to the Jubilee celebrations!

That would have meant that from the Cambridge children only George would have been there. probably they didn't leave out Charlotte and Louis for the same reason the Wessex-chidren were included at the Balcony appearance after Trooping.

I feel like we all know why certain members weren't present, even if they might have been under different circumstances.

I assume since it IS her Jubilee that this is the way she wanted to present things. Part of it is to do as much as possible to ensure her legacy and as smooth a path for the future as she can.

I feel like she was more than adequately celebrated.

I don't think it is too much to ask for a family group picture. The Queen could be seated if standing for a long time is difficult for her.

I would hope so, but I also think that at this point, what the queen wants is not always going to be what actually occurs. I could be wrong, but in certain situations I definitely think she would want balcony appearances or participation mirroring those that occurred earlier in her reign, where the family aspect is quite flush and full. But now, with the streamlined approach certain numbers of the family seem to be pushing, her desire to include everyone, may not be possible, even at Her Jubilee.

I don't know. Perhaps she would have liked her extended family on the balcony at least once, they did it for Trooping until recently but the last Jubilee also ended pretty much the same way, with the core future and others potentially had much less say in how things were run then.

It's clear that she still gets her own way on who accompanies her though since I doubt ANYONE else wanted Andy front and centre of PPs Thanksgiving service.

The Trooping of the Color is about the Queen, personally. It is appropriate for her whole family to celebrate her birthday with her.

I believe that a jubilee is about the longevity of the monarch. The Queen is a remarkable person but only serves with the consent and support of the British people, so a jubilee is more about the UK and the monarchy than the Queen personally. The first balcony appearance featured those who are officially working on behalf of the British public. The second and last balcony appearance is forward looking. Charles, William and George are the future of the monarchy, which is why they and their families were the focus.

I said "astronomical" summer, as indicated by beginning at the summer solstice and ending at the autumn equinox. That would be roughly from June 21 until September 23.

Yes I understood that but in the UK/Ireland June,July and August are quite simply classed as summer months regardless of the astronomical dates.

But still the Balcony appearance was limited at Trooping this year.

You are correct but my understanding is that the Trooping and the Jubilee were combined. I hope that next year, the full family will appear on the balcony.

The four Cambridges all travelled in the same helicopter. Again. They really should stop doing that. I'm surprised it's allowed.

Read somewhere it is allowed until George is 12.

A very successful weekend. Nice seeing the extended family. Great imagery and an honor for HMQ. She is looking quite frail, and this might be some of the last times we really see her out and about like this for a while. So what a way to celebrate.
