Earl of Wessex in France on 12th July - source Court Circular
The Earl of Wessex this morning departed Farnborough Airport, Hampshire, for France and was received upon arrival at Carpiquet Airport, Caen, Normandy, by Her Majesty's Ambassador to the French Republic (His Excellency Sir Peter Ricketts).
His Royal Highness later attended a Reception for the mayors of the local communes at the Mairie, Esquay-Notre-Dame.
The Earl of Wessex, Royal Honorary Colonel, The Royal Wessex Yeomanry, subsequently took the salute at the march past by the 43rd Wessex Division's Veterans at Hill 112, Caen, and this afternoon attended the Seventieth Anniversary Service to commemorate those who fell in the Battle for Hill 112 and laid a wreath.
