Why was this program named for Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bint Rashid Al Maktoum and not another daughter? Did she start this?

At the time the award started Latifa was the only daughter who was old enough to hand out awards and was seen in public & photographed (yes 11 years old is young but her other sisters were much younger). Hessa was in her mid-tens and not photographed. There was no reason given why it was named the Latifa award but thats the only thing I could think off.

Anyone ever see this? This is from an article posted on LiveLeak.com dated 10/01/2007 (perhaps right before the birth of Princess Haya's daughter?)

"This island was given to Sheikha Hind Al-Maktoum , Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed ' s wife, on her birthday. It is part of The World islands project in Dubai ..."

I assume the lady that has been blurred out is our lovely Sheikha Hind? I wonder if the location of this picture is her island. I think I see a helicopter in the background...

An Island from which you just can get away with a boot is either amazing - or a prison (and for some reason I can't imagine Sheikha Hind driving a motorboot - but I don't know, maybe she has a driver)

I apologize. I mean no disrespect to Sheikha Hind. I admire her and would love to meet her and I was hoping this might be a picture of her.

I believe that the island was a demo island. To show everyone what they could do with the other islands. Maybe he gave it to her after they were finished showing it off?? That would be cool though. It's really beautiful!

How do U know so sure it was not Hind? We don't know how she looks like and nobody will tell us, but from the pic i assume the lady is either a mother or an aunt of the girls. They look very intimate and the fact that the face is blurred out indicates the lady is someone important that doesn't want her picture out. Sure it's not the nanny.. :flowers:

I know for sure it was not a family member. A poster on naother forum asked me to delete the picture which was posted with out th eblur on the face because it was a women who is Sheikha Hinds right hand and brought about the girls. Her picture was once posted long ago with Sheikha Latifa at an event while Sheikha Latifa was young.

It is great to see her getting more news published in English again. What I have read about her has usually impressed me. :flowers:

In that picture but the woman blurred out... Which number is Sheikha? Is she even there? I can seen where the other girls are but Sheikha blends in with Maryam so I cant tell them apart. I love the fact that Sheikha and I have the same name lol
Thanks

Hind Bint Maktoum: Arab Children's Day is an important occasion for self-assessment

HH Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said today that the Arab Children's Day is an important occasion to discuss the concerns and issues related to the child welfare in the Arab world... - Article

She is a mysterious woman!!

She attracts curiosity and imagination.

could I ask why there is no pic

supposedly she's sheikh mo's "jewel" that isn't meant for display
*yes...imo...this whole "jewel" business makes her sound like an object n not a person:bang:

Jan 3rd 2010 - Sh Hind felicitations to Sh Mohammed on his 4th anniversary as Emir of Dubai. [GWU]
"His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has a big heart that embraces everyone with love, affection and care. His benevolence towards children is remarkable and his generosity always painted smile on the lips of the deprived."

I thought this is interesting as Sh Hind do love him dearly

Honestly, I could feel jealous if my husband is publicly with the modern wife like Princess Haya. Personally I could feel sad being the conservative next to the modern, I'd feel like an extremists :p. & insecure too - do men prefer the modern lady? Still, Sh Hind's news are more on her charities, not her clothes, looks - so I appreciate that very much الحمد لله. That is what truly matters.

Not to dismiss Princess Haya, but it's nice to have someone make the conservative feel normal LOL.
Although her daughters seem modern. That's why I sincerely wish someone will continue the legacy.
A hidden wife shouldn't be a bad thing should it? She can do all the hidden charities, become a King's ears & eyes.

I respect Shehika Hind as she was the first wife and I feel for her as she lost his OFFICIAL husband apparently. The one I can't understand is P Haya. I wonder if she feels sorry for Shehika Hind. :ermm:Would she herself stay with her husband if he got married with another younger girl from a modern and noble family?:whistling:But Shehika Hind manages to keep her head up and move on. A very valuable wife, mother and shehika.:flowers:

I don't want to be disrespectful but i do think that the hidden wife is not a healthy idea especially not for high-profile sheikhs that have to set an example for their people.
But as i see it, Hind is totally dependent on the whims of her husband, not only for her own sake but also for her children's. If she would play a more public role, it would be more difficult for Mo to disrespect her so publicly. Sheikha Hind and Hamdan's future wife deserve better. Even if a man is entitled to have more wives, he still has to treat them fairly and has to know better then to play them out against each other in public.
I agree with you that i hope Hinds good work will be continued but even a more public wife can do hidden charities. The other way round is more difficult.
Besides, i'm always curious about the women behind the men. If you know the women behind the men, you know if you can trust them :flowers:

PS: i don't mean that the future wife of Hamdan should appear constantly in public, wear western clothes or give in-debt interivews. I only hope she will have a face and a voice she can use it if she wants to.

I agree with all what said ; Sheikha Hind is absolutely respected woman , no one can blame her .
what I have in my mind is that royal women are not safe ; they are like us except for media attention which is in Gulf area restricted but seems to change as in Qatar .
Is it the tradition itself or the husbands ?? In Haya's case I found none of both affected her !
My wish is that sheikha Hind will not choose to have her relative (Hamdan fiancee) have the same destiny ; i.e. won't allow him to marry her just for customs sake .

Your opinions are similar to mine.
For Sheikha Hind, she's the First Lady of Dubai and as a result of this she is respected by public. She's very valuable, lovely and hardworking. I know that she does lots of things for her country but she just doesn't seem in public because of the Gulf culture. Also, everybody knows that she's still favourite wife of Sheikh Mohammed.:flowers:
For Princess Haya, I've never understood her.:ermm: What I know is, she is very educated woman, lived in Europe for many years and always opposite to polygamy. But she didn't act in that way...

In my opinion, I don't believe Sheikha Hind is jealous of Haya. She doesn't need this!:flowers: She's the First Lady, Dubaian, favourite wife of Sheikh Mohammed & respected by public!:flowers: For Haya she isn't First Lady, she's Jordanian, his 2nd official wife & wasn't respected by public as much as Hind. Also, I know that in Dubai lots of people don't want Haya.

Between, I respect the Gulf culture but the hidden wife idea isn't healthy as bettina's said. Qatar changed so maybe Uae will change.

" Also, everybody knows that she's still favourite wife of Sheikh Mohammed.:flowers:" :ROFLMAO: u better be kidding right... Don't confuse tradition w/ love...:bang:
How is sheikha Hind sheikh Mo's favorite wife when he went and married Princess Haya according to some people behind sheikha Hind's back? to me that's not only a betrayal but also a slap in the face! When a man loves his wife he doesnt go around having 30 kids all w/ different women... When a man truly loves his wife all he wants is HIS ONLY WIFE and nobody else. This is my 5 cents...

I think the important person in all these relationships is Sheikh Mo. I think he's his favourite :whistling:

I am pretty sure about Sheikha Hind is his favourite wife because when you talk with any Dubaian or Arab from Gulf who are interested in Dubaian royals they'll say this. Everybody knows this in Dubai. To be honest, it also seems interesting to me because if a man really loves his wife, he doesn't look any other. You're totally right about it! But in Dubai, they do!:ermm: If you don't believe, you can check out the other threads and posts.

@ Kerry - LOL  Good one.

@ LV and Turkish - I must agree if a man loves a woman he loves her. But, I must disagree with you Turkish on this being a Dubai thing. Sh. Mo father's only had one wife. He did not have multiply wives, so it must be an individual thing.

@ Turkish - I wouldn't say, Haya is "very educated" let's just say she is college educated. But, once again, I've seen her several times and she is not impressive.

Lastly, as a Far Westerns I'm clueless on how she (Haya) can be title as the 2nd official wife? :bang: Isn't she like 4th? While Hind is 2nd or 3rd? I thought in Islam a wife is a wife?

IMO Haya and Sh. Mo doesn't appear very close...she travels a lot by herself and all her media releases say, of Jordan.... Well doesn't she live in Dubai?

In regards to Sh. Hind, I don't know why she stays....? The laws in Dubai changed where a woman has rights to get a divorce receive support as wells as custody of the children. However, she stayed around this long...why leave? Why should she let Haya or someone else get the glory...:bang:
