I thought they kept the Ducal crypt?
This cathedral is no longer owned by the family. Currently, the Grand Dukes of Luxembourg and other family members are buried at Notre Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg.

The article you linked to states that the crypt is still owned by the Grand Ducal family and considered a Luxembourgish exterritorial area

According to what a person from Luxarazzi told me.
I'm not sure about legal ownership, but crypts remain Luxembourgish territory, so I believe there is a legal arrangement that preserves access only to the family.

The reception/meeting rooms are lovely and have a nice warmth to them. I like the stain glass windows in the first room:)

The heraldic arms are quite beautiful on those windows.

The Grand Ducal Palace is very beautiful. The rooms are fantastic.
I hope one day I can visit the Palace.

I visited the Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg City. I had to pay ! in Brussels free. Very small Palace because of the location in the City and absolutely not glittering, odd Curtains! I remember most of the Paintings of the Grand Dukes and Grand Duchesses of the Past were removed in the second Room and in the main Paintings of the Grand Duchess and her Family. I did not remember a big dining Room and don't know if the Royals during their State Visit have their Room in the Palace or in a Grand Hotel in the City !

There was once a Report before a big State Visit that the use the Chamber of the Parliament (which is then emptied) for such big Dinners. Both buildings are connected to each other

It wouldn't be my favourite residence and I have noticed the curtains in photos so I tend to agree.

I have to tell a story that happened when I lived in Luxembourg between 1972 and 1978. Prince Charles of Luxembourg , Grand Duc Jean 's Brother succeeded to have "GoodYear" in Luxembourg. One of the Manager received an Invitation for an Evening Event at the Palace. She said to his wife, we will go to Paris to buy an Evening Dress.
When they arrived at the Grand Ducal Palace , someone rushed to them and said "Madame you are wearing the same dress as the Grand Duchesse" and they had to return home and an old Dress was worn for the Event.

Fischbach always looks really quite homely to me, even if quite big.

In view of World Autism Awareness Day, which is being held this Saturday, the Grand Ducal Palace is adorned, until 3 April 2022, with blue illumination in support of the solidarity movement.

I always wondered and worried about these city-bound palaces with a sidewalk as the only distance between the street and the window.

Question, do they have guards outside and how close is the public able to get? :ermm:

The family don't live in the Palace but use if for official purposes - receptions, state visits etc as well as for their offices.
