Prince Carl Philip has got himself into hot water after competing in a go-carting competition sponsored by energy drink Red Bull.

The dashing prince, dressed in racing drivers’ overalls, took no fee for driving in the “Red Bull Ultimate Driver Race” outside the Royal Palace in Stockholm at the weekend, but pictures of him participating were splashed all over the next day’s tabloids, netting a real PR coup for the makers of the controversial beverage.

Royal press secretary Ann-Christine Jernberg was on message when Dagens Nyheter called.

“This was a well [chance] for Carl Philip to test his wings,” she told the paper, “ and not to promote Red Bull in any way.”

An other great example for Ann-Christine´s great work Red Bull (which is IMO not more dangerous than a strong coffee) advertises in almost all countries with the slogan "Red Bull gives you wings"

What do you mean got into hot water? Why?

Hot water because as a royal he has to walk that fine line between going to an event that is sponsored by a company and not showing that he is promoting the product or the company. Red Bull is quite controversial and thus, the prince, had to be careful. But he didn´t say anything about the company nor did he appear in photos to drink it. Thus, it´s a matter of the press being bored with their one(same say one half) brain cell.

It is about carl-philip entering another racing event- that he won! maybe someone can help me to translate some of the text to english, i don´t have the time to do it right now.

Aftonbladet reports today that Prince Carl Philip made his first entry in a go cart compeititon this year yesterday, competing for the Swedish motor racing legend Janne "Flash" Nilsson's stable at the Värmland's Karting Clubs (in his duchy) . The legend only has good words for the Prince:
- I think he drives really well. Carl Philip is calm and if he would really get into go cart, he would be really good.

It was soaking rain and the course was very slippery, and the Prince ended up outside of it twice already in the first race. In a curve he lost controll of the go cart and slided into the protection wall on the side of the course. Afterwards he received medical attention, but could continue racing afterwards.

Despite only making it into the finish in one of three qualifying races, he chose to participate in the final, were he ended up on a surprising 7th place! The go cart club is now thinking about renaiming the curve were Carl Philip drove off the course to "the Prince's curve".
