Emma Pernald and Sofia Hellqvist attended both at the seminar "Leadership for Human Rights" organized by Postkodlotteriet, 22nd or 23th May.
From Svensk Damtidning:

What was interesting, Åsa from Svensk Damtidning wrote from this event at an different issue that "Sofia Hellqvist with her victorious smile: I was invited to the christening!". Åsa has been praising Sofia from the beginning.

I realize the discussions are endless on this topic. I can fully agree with the statements : "Look, if he loves her and she, really???, loves him, what is wrong"?
BUT also with "A person who marries a royal doesn't have to have special pedigree nowadays IMO, but she/he has to have an impeccable and unsuspicious background" indeed more important than a pedigree!!!

Right now she did not manage to escape from the title of "PlayBoy Girl" YouTube abondently illustrates that, just type her name.
The monarchy needs dignity to maintain support.

Yes true, but that does not make Sofia better fitting as a princess.

Svensk Damtidning's Margareta Heed writes in the paper issue about the interview with Sofia about the engagement:
Sofia, after three years as Carl Philip's girlfriend, stepped up to the royal spotlight as one of the guests at Princess Estelle's baptism. Something no former royal partner has had the opportunity to do before.
- Yes, it was fun. The baptism was beautiful, says Sofia.
Does that mean that there will be a engagement soon?
Sofia knows she should not comment on the issue, but she can not avoid it. She opens her eyes more open and they shine super happily. A elated smile spreads, one of those smiles that can not be hold back even though it appears that she is trying. A smile that says it all.
- Iiiii, says Sofia.
The sound comes silent from her and pleasure still shines in her face when the sisters line (Sofia had her sister Lina with her) up for a picture.
At the most of the interview Margareta Heed is praising Sofia very much and Sofia is telling about her charity organisation Project Playground.

In the complete version, this article is one of the most unintentionally funny pieces of bad kitsch writing that I've ever read...
The overdose of sugar included keeps you wondering why this gossip magazine is so hell-bent on 'selling' Sofia H. to the public, and the fact that they call this an 'interview' tells you a lot about the magazine's quality.

Wow! Why in the world would she even open her eyes to the question of an engagement?? If that doesn't show her character I don't know what does. And Carl Philips an idiot who's blinded by lust.

Because she can't help it. She is human you know. I'm sorry but if I was dating a prince I'd be jumping from the roof with happiness and an engagement would be the icing on the cake even a rumour.

If the Swedish Monarchy is that weak that a girl like Sofia can bring it to its knees, it deserves to fall.

Also the insults to CP are atrocious, you can't help who you fall for and a lot more people have fallen for a lot worse and done a lot more damage. Leave him alone.

What is her true character then? Is she a woman who wants to marry a prince? You could say that about plenty of women who married into royal families. I'm sure Mary would have married Frederik if he'd been homeless and living in a cardboard box. :whistling:

Attraction is a component in a relationship so who is to say how much of Carl Phillip's feelings are just lust. And if they are, does it really detract that much from his overall intelligence?

I don't know much about Sofia and haven't followed this story very much but I'm at the point where I really like her just to be contrary. I hope they marry just to spite everyone. And I hope the king creates her a princess in her own right which is something some more well liked royal brides will never have.

As the king doesn't have the ability to ennoble a person who isn't born into the royal family, I doubt he would have the ability to create someone a prince/ess in his/her own right, only allow a person who marries into the royal family to have the same title as his/her spouse after the wedding.

As far as I know the only royal spouses who were created princess in her own right are princess Máxima of the Netherlands and princess Mathilde, duchess of Brabant.

LMAO! I'm like that too, not only do I not have a problem with Sofia, but all the hate she gets I really want to see CP marry her and give the middle finger to the complainers.

Isn't Daniel a Prince in his own right?
His title and style - His Royal Highness Prince Daniel of Sweden, Duke of Vastergotland - correspond to that of a Prince in his own right, not a royal spouse by marriage. I thought he was made a Prince of Sweden and a Royal Highness by royal announcement in May of 2010.

Here's the announcement
Mr Daniel Westling will be Prince of Sweden - Sveriges Kungahus
Herr Daniel Westling blir Prins av Sverige - Sveriges Kungahus

Daniel's title's take after the titles of Victoria, and I don't see that as being a prince in his own right, while Mathilde and Máxima were made princesses in their own right. Had Daniel been made for example duke of Närke he would have had a title in his own right.

The duke of Edinburgh have a title in his own right, but as far as I know neither prince Henrik of Denmark or prince Claus of the Netherlands were created princes in their own right, they got their tiltes in a similar way that a female royal spouse would get her husband's title.

Thanks for responding, but I think we have a disagreement in views over this issue.
If Daniel had been made Duke of Närke, he would have been a Duke (a noble) in his own right.
But it has nothing to do with his Princely style and title, which were bestowed upon him personally.

His title of Duke of Vastergotland is jure uxoris, granted; however his title of a Prince and style of a Royal Highness are in his own right.
At least, that's my understanding. :)

What actual distinction does being a Prince in his own right carry? I assume the title is not something he can pass on - i.e. if Daniel and Victoria divorce in ten years and he remarries and has a couple of children this second family will remain untitled commoners.

:previous:
Daniel wouldn't be able to pass the title to his children other than those with Victoria. As in the case with Mathilde of Belgium and Maxima of the Netherlands (both created Princesses of their respective realms in their own right), the title will most probably be his only for the duration of his marriage to the Crown Princess.

The title Prince is an honour, a distinction. In Britain, the Monarch can, in theory, create anyone Prince of the Realm. In practice, Queen Elizabeth has done it only once - when she bestowed the title of the Prince of the United Kingdom upon her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.+

I'm not sure about Sweden, but since Daniel was created a Prince (have a look at the links posted by LadyFinn), I assume he as the right to confer the title upon will as well, possibly after consent of his Government.

Yes, we do disagree, as I don't see Daniel as a prince in his own right, as little as I see princess Lilian as a princess in her own right, both of them got their title due to their status as a royal spouse, nor will Carl Philip's future spouse be a princess of Sweden in her own right, but due to her status as the wife of a royal prince.

Even after all the discussion about Daniel I'm still under the impression that he is a prince in his own right.

The Schulman show is apparently one of the cheapest commercial talk show kind, and to appear sitting excitedly in the front row of its live audience is IMO not exactly the smartest idea for someone in Sofia Hellqvist's position, to put it very, very mildly.

Love this post:)

The host of this Schulman Show is Alex Schulman. His brother Calle has been given a lot of credit and praise for Sofia and Project Playground at his blog, he has also raised money for Project Playground.

Project Sofia is nothing more than a big spin, isnt it. I'd never thought that a royal house would lower themselves to such a levels in order to make a royal girlfriend look presentable.

Did the same thing with Project Camilla and other royal gfs who had to transform from regular girls to royal princesses. But of course you don't want to admit that Project Sofia as you call it isn't new or just something the SRF are doing.

It's one thing that royal "girlfriends" are groomed to become suitable royal wives, but as far as I can recall neither Camilla nor any other royal girlfriend or boyfriend have had such a prominent public role as Sofia has created for herself, most other royal girlfriends have tried to stay away from the limelight until the engagement have been made public.

Camilla was out and about with Charles prior to there 2005 wedding, she also apparently was doing charity work before going public with Charles and added on some more after she went public.
Still waiting for her to get a ring just to see how much it's going to piss people off.

No royal house had to transform former soft porn model and reality show contestant. Judging from the reactions from Sweden, they are not doing a very good job. :whistling:

I somehow now don't believe a Royal Engagement is coming for this couple after all. Something tells me it is still a long way off, if at all!
