For me, it was the one cringe worthy moment during an otherwise lovely ceremony.
According to singer Peter Jöback, Chris O'Neill chose the song.

Did he? How lovely. He's clearly a man who has no problem expressing his feelings. The verse that begins with the words that made Moonmaiden23 cringe concludes:

"And I knew our joy would fill the earth
And last till the end of time, my love".

The song expresses deep, meaningful, love and commitment. I can think of no more beautiful words for a wedding.

I was wondering the same. Here in Finland the most of the priests are very strict with the song and music that may be performed at the church. From my friends weddings I know that much more discreet songs have been denied to have played at the church. I think most of the finnish priests wouldn't have let that song to be performed.

I loved just about everything of the wedding. Yes, some of the dresses worn by the ladies left much to be desired but to each his own. The wedding service was so beautiful filled with love and emotion and the Groom, he blew me away. A brand new person I saw. I certainly did not expect to see so much emotion from him. He crept into my heart and I was one who thought ' surely Madeleine could do better!' Three days later and I still cannot get enough of reading about the wedding. Now if only I can read the Groom's speech! A huge thank you to all who posted links about the wedding. Much appreciated.

About the music in the church: In many ways, this vigsel (the swedish name for the ceremony in the chucrh) was very much alike most other ones I've attended. I think I've ben to 40 or 50.

The ceremony follows a ritual that can be altered in some ways, but not in others. For example: you have to have at least two hymns. (They did, one in swedish and one in english). Besides that you can have a few other songs as well, of you own choice. The priests can say no to them, but they usually don't.

All this nit picking about a church wedding! At least they got married, which is more than most couples these days!
When they began to sing that song, I knew that Chris must have chosen it from his reactions in the church.
In America, we have everything from rockin' gospel music to guitar music to contemporary to classics. Music is just another way of communicating.

Yes. I was wondering about that too. I was surprised that a song like that would be allowed in a church wedding and I found myself cringing at some of the lyrics in the song. Im not saying that it is not a good song, I just thought it was inappropriate for a royal wedding. On the other hand, it was not a wediing like Victorias. It could have been a wedding of a friend, it was very low key. I do have to say that I was surprised to see the emotion that came from Chris considering he is usually very unemotional. He actually had tears in his eyes and he smiled so much I thought I would pass out from shock. He is definitely more handsome when he smiles. Do we know where they went for honeymoon.

1,5 million Swedes watched the wedding from TV. When Victoria and Daniel got married, 3 million Swedes watched the wedding.

Hello, at these sites:
Live 1 | Live | Nyheter | Aftonbladet
Madde och Chris gick ut och hälsade på alla | Prinsessbröllopet | Madde & Chris | Expressen | Senaste nytt - Nyheter Sport Nöje TV

there were huge gallery of photos, now there are still galleries, but with photos only from the last part of the wedding, does any of you can locate galleries with all pictures with arrivals, church ceremony etc? There were more like 2000 pics, now about 560....
Will be greatful for answer, for the whole weekend I lost internet connection and missed the whole thing!
Thank you!

I agree!
That type of song doesn't belong in church, imo.

They could have easily played it at the reception, where no one would mind.

Why compare the two weddings? Apples and oranges. Must be a slow news day in sweden

I didn't have the chance to see the wedding live, but I watched it on SVT later. Estelle was definitely my star! Other than that, the wedding didn't really knock my socks off, most of the time I found it too cheesy and staged, almost theatrical. Maybe I'm weird but for me they just didn't radiate the same genuine feelings as Victoria and Daniel at their wedding for example. Chris's victory sign when he kissed Madeleine seemed very odd to me

It's not valid or Sacramental as far as the Catholic Church goes unless the groom rec'd dispensation from his bishop or had a dual ceremony done. We know the ceremony was not dual....as I understand it Chris is not a practicing Catholic so it's doubtful he asked for dispensation.

Are you referring to the fist pump? I'm used to athletes doing it as a celebratory gesture when they score; but in the context of a wedding --- especially a royal one --- it struck me as undignified, as if he were saying "Yeah, I got the girl!"

??? I saw more emotion from Chris during the day then in all the time leading up to the wedding. He was walking on air!

I saw it more as, "Yeah, we made it. I managed to clear all the hurdles and not mess up and this beautiful woman I adore is now my wife." Which is essentially the same thing, as "Yeah, I got the girl!", and it's just fine with me.
