it was a busy day - meet and greet; private meetings with those being supported by the charity; making a speech; planting a tree; and getting a book from nursery children. I didnt know about this last bit but here is a lovely picture

The dress is mentioned in the 6+ bold bullet points at the start of the article. The price is also highlighted.

No they don't because those stories would be as boring as the colour beige. Catherine sells. A lot. Positive or negative. I don't understand why people don't get that, it's what papers do!

We GET it Lumutqueen but as your post suggests there is a choice - positive or negative and the DM is negative, slmost without exception. That is what they are doing; there is no balance at all. That is the point we are making.

Other papers also want to sell themselves - to the public and to advertisers but they dont just sing one note.

Do you get that?

Exactly. The Daily Mail reads almost like a tabloid much of the time- the way the story is written is almost without fail designed to imply that what Catherine's doing is wrong. The juxtaposition of the cost of her dress against the socioeconomic background of the kids she was visiting was just a more egregious example of their sensationalism.

The other thing I noticed was their story on her new patronages lead with the sentence "At long last, The Duchess of Cambridge has agreed to take on more charities." The article indicated she'd dragged her feet out of laziness or stubbornness.

Perhaps the DM was suggesting that residents of an "impoverished" council estate were unworthy of the Duchess appearing in a new dress, although had she shown up in something lesser I suspect they would have taken the tact that QEQM dressed up to visit the impoverished bombed out east end of London but the Duchess didnt feel it necessary to dress up to meet residents of an impoverished council estate. A no win situation really for Catherine. The DM does like to fuel the class war on occassion.

I know what that's like - but I absolutely agree with the sentiment in your post

The Daily Mail most certainly is a tabloid, whether in paper or online. It has always been aimed at women, so it tends to be full of populist, gossipy content.

Not to get too OT but, the DM's most notorious move was to back Mussolini and Hitler during the 1930s. Its praise of both would later be used by them for propaganda purposes in their own countries.

Very, very few people read the DM for serious news.

The Daily Mail's coverage is cringe worthy. The only good thing is their pictures . The class warfare is oozing of the article. When all three of go to the Harry Potter studio on Friday, the cost of William and Harry's suits won't be mentioned but Kate's dress will.

Onto today school trip, it looked like everybody had a great time. Loved lupo 's gift basket from Henry the dog- forget baby Cambridge gifts and get some snacks for Lupo. Watching the video, Kate had her hands full with her purse, the gift basket and flowers (Rebbeca seemed to be on the wrong side of the receiving line so she could not quickly clear the gifts out) but Kate still took her time to bend to kids eye level and talk to the kids that gave the gifts. I loved the speech's content but she messed up the delivery.

What was she supposed to wear a potato sack?
oh I know she should have fitted in with the area not raised the exoectations of little children by wearing nylon trackies, a hoodie and ugg boots with a car badge she nicked off of one of the QEII fleet on a chain and accessorized with a supersized Maccas coke and a smoldering fag hanging out of her mouth.

The little thugs oops I meant kiddies would have felt so much better about her visit to their school and looked much more like the 'princesses' that they are used to seeing in the streets.

The Daily Mail should be hauled over the coals for this one honestly what a deliberate attempt at hate building and provocation.

Why on earth did you feel the need to refer to these children as thugs? That's even more offensive than what the Daily Mail wrote.

I think the post in general and the use of "thugs" was meant to be sarcastic - or that's how I read it.

You're right. I just re-read it and I was far too quick to judge.

The Mirror has some different photos of the visit. A couple show some great deets. I like the one of the kiddies and Catherine w/shovel.
One has to wonder if John Bishop looked... odd in all the photos - or just the ones that the Mirror picked?
Kate Middleton reveals baby bump in floral Erdem dress as she launches kids' counselling programme at Manchester
Anyway, more grist for the court circular.
Apologies if someone already shared the Mirror link - but I speed read and admit it.

As the Queen Mother once said, as she dressed up to visit the bombed out East End during WWII, "of course I'll wear my best to see them, they'd wear their best to come see me."

I just got the chance to watch her speech, and wow! While her delivery does still need some work, her message was fantastic, plus it looks like this initiative was her idea and she was responsible for bringing these two charities together to launch a totally new initiative and some original research.

If that's the case... their work behind the scenes is a lot more comprehensive than they get credit for, and the Royal Foundation will be interesting to watch in the coming years.

The Q Mum was a classic. I would bet she read the DM and called it the Daily Laugh for the humor it provided.

I agree, I loved Catherine's message and the work she, the Royal Foundation and charities are doing.
