Now that the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of King Bhumibol of Thailand are over, and most royals have returned home to go on vacation or continue their official work, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia will remain in Thailand for a private vacation from 14-20 June.

The Royal Couple will celebrate their 30th wedding day, 19 June, this coming Monday, in the country, and Swedish media have reported that they are expected to make some visits in connection to the tsunami of 2004.

They will mainly be staying in the Andaman region, and media say that they will live in a private villa at the Trisara Resort in Phuket. Their activities includes meetings with Swedish nationals, visits to main tourist attractions and a visit to the Bangkok Hospital in Phuket, were a conference room has been named after the King. They will probably also make a visit to the Phang Nga province with a visit to Khao Lak included. Expressen today writes that a visit to an orphanage has been taken off the schedule due to fraud allegations from Thai authorities.

The King and Queen on holiday in Thailand

From the Bangkok Post:

"The Swedish royal couple arrived in Phuket yesterday and will stay until Tuesday.

The governor said the Swedish royals are staying at their friend's house in Thalang district. Their itinerary probably includes a tour of Phangnga Bay, visiting tsunami-ravaged Ban Nam Khem village in Phangnga's Takua Pa district and the Swedish-owned rubber glove factory in Thalang district of Phuket"

The King helps the earthquake victims of Pakistan – by buying a cabin

After the earthquake catastrophe in Pakistan in 2005, the Swedish-Pakistani chief physician Saeed Zahra Isaksson Stammler from Kista, a suburb to Stockholm, founded the help organisation AAPKI Foundation. On her initiative, together with the company Sorselestugan (“The Sorsele Cabin”) and the municipality of Sorsele, they have started a project that is working towards sending 1 000 cabins to Pakistan, to house widows and their children (the target group of the project) – the SFPEV project (Shelter For Pakistan Earthquake Victims). To do this, help/money is needed from companies and individuals who are ready to buy one or several cabins for the project. The goal is to have delivered 200 cabins by the end of the year. In January this year, 32 cabins with fireplaces were delivered.

Earlier in June, the King bought one cabin with a fireplace that he donated to the project. The cabin was set up yesterday at the Royal Mews, and will work as an exhibition example for donors and people who are interested in helping this project.

Tonight Crown Princess Victoria will attend a reception and information meeting at the Royal Mews about this project, and attending will be 40-60 people and representatives of companies that have bought cabins for the project.

The royal couple are back in Sweden and celebrated midsummer on Solliden.
Yesterday they went biking with their bodyguards.
- The King was always 30 metres ahead of the others. He seemed tired of the bodyguards.

After a free weekend its back to work for the royal couple. For the month of July several official visits is on the schedule, first Leipzig and then a trip to China. In China they´ll meet the president.
Thats probably why they appreciated the free weekend at Öland.
- They had a very nice midsummer weekend and celebrated traditionally with friends, said Nina Eldh at the royal court.

ALVARET, ÖLAND 2006-06-25.
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden take a spin on their bikes. The King seemed a bit tired of the ever-present bodyguards, and pedalled well ahead of his company, leaving Queen Silvia and a bodyguard 30 metres behind.

Do you know, why the royal couple wasn't attend the 2nd Gala yesterday evening in Luxembourg?
Are the king and queen leave the silver wedding yesterday afternoon?

Regarding the summer vacations, they will be shorter than usual this year as the Swedish Royal Couple continues with this year's very busy schedule:
State visit to China from July 17th to July 22nd!

purple platinum, thanks very much for posting the lovely pictures from Leizpzig and Kiel. Many of the pictures I see at first - great work.

Thank you very much for posting the Zuma pictures Jess, I really appreciate it!

It seems the King and Queen had a full day of activities in Kiel, not just the boat race, but also a golf charity and opening of an exhibition. And I guess the man standing next to them when they are signing the guestbook would be the Ministerpräsident of Schleswig-Holstein?

Do you mean when they are signing the guestbook at Leipzig, GrandDuchess?
If yes, according to the caption, it is the Mayor of Leipzig BURKHARD JUNG :)

Thank you very much, purple_platinum, for sharing those beautiful pictures from Leipzig and Kiel with us. I guess it is hard work, but it is very much appreciated!
The King and Queen were very busy those days. But the Queen looks lovely as always. I really love the skirt she wore in Leipzig. It's so summerly...
