Hello there! I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to join.:)
Anyway, I'm Faroese and have been following the royal visit on the telly.
Funny comment:
Reporter: So, how did the Queen look?
Little boy: Old!

Thank you all for the photos. After Mary's hat blew away at the Parliament, Queen Margrethe gave Mary a few words of advice in preventing one's hat from blowing away; since then the Queen has lost her hat twice. I like the gray suit, it looks like something that Princess Máxima would wear from Natan. The pink and white outfit is perhaps my favorite pregnancy outfit that Mary has worn so far. The colors really suit her and I love her hat.

I was going to say I like that hat too... I have seen her wear another hat like this one, or was it the same one? Can't remember, but anyhow, I do like her hat...She looks great in many of her photos. Finally, we get to see her belly.

i must say i dont really like the typical dress, looks quite unflattering, but its good to see her in typical danish clothes to make them be more popular and show her respect and danishness...

Thanks for the pictures everyone.
I have learned a lot about the Norwegian bunads and would love to learn more about the tradtional Danish (Faroian?) costumes if anyone has any information on them. The embroidery at the hem of Queen Margrethe's dress is beautiful.

I'd just like to point out that the traditional outfit worn by all the royals are from the faeroe islands (which I think Gloriana would agree on) and not danish. There are some danish traditional outfits, but no one really uses them, so I doubt you'll ever se Mary or Margrethe in one.

Margrethe and Henrik both own a Danish traditional costume, but as you said... they're very little used in Denmark, though Margrethe has been seen in hers. Prince Henrik got his as a gift this year.
I think that Margrethe used hers at the Silver Wedding Celebration of Sonja and Harald.
It's a matter of tradition.

The Danish Royal Family seems such happy people. Princess Mary looks good. Pregnancy suits her. She may be one of the lucky women who does not put on to much weight during pregnancy.

MARY AND FREDERIK TOUR THE FAROE ISLANDS
Now well into her pregnancy, Princess Mary of Denmark nonetheless discreetly disguised her evolving figure as she and her husband, Crown Prince Federik, began a three-day tour of the Faroe Islands in the heart of the North Atlantic.
The royal couple joined Frederik's parents, Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik on the jaunt to the scenic 18-island archipelago, located northwest of Scotland and halfway between Iceland and Norway.
Residents of the semi-autonomous territory crowded the streets and waved Danish and Faroese flags as the royals made their way through the Old Town at Torshavn. And the prince and princess made a special effort to greet the tiniest of well-wishers, stooping to chat with children and even a curious puppy who had turned out to see the fanfare.
As the Islands' average summer temperature reaches just around 11 degrees Celsius, it came as no surprise that five months' pregnant Mary was well bundled in a pink scarf and tweed coat for the visit. The ladylike coverup was no match for the strong breeze, however, and Princess Mary's coat was swept aside to reveal a pretty pink dress and the beginnings of a bump.
1. Crown Prince Frederik and his pregnant wife, Princess Mary, enjoy a stunning view of the Faroe Islands
2. Frederik and Mary greet well-wishers, who waved Danish and Faroese flags as they lined the streets of the Old Town in Torshavn
3. Just under 50,000 people - 18,800 residents are located in metropolitan areas - live on the 17 inhabitable islands
4. The 18-island archipelago, a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark, features soaring cliffs and craggy mountains as well as 687 miles of coastline
5. The royal couple don traditional Faroese costumes during the visit

Indeed! And Faroese people do not likebeing called Danish. It's sort of like calling an Irishman or Scotsman English . Only we don't even speak the same language as the Danes, and have very little in common, culturally speaking.

Mary's costume looks really good on her. She should really wear more greens.
And as for the bump... if you have good designers, it is fairly easy to hide, I would think.

Hail Queen Margrethe! She picks up her own hat! And she makes us laugh by giving us this most unlikely of poses! What a gem!
