The Duke of Kent today carried out the following engagements in County Down and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant (Mr. David Lindsay).

His Royal Highness this morning visited Kirkistown Castle Golf Club, 142 Main Street, Cloughey.

The Duke of Kent this afternoon visited Florida Manor, Ballybunden Road, Killinchy.

His Royal Highness later visited St. Mary's Church of Ireland, Kilmood Church Road, Kilmood.

The Duke of Kent afterwards visited Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, Cultra, Holywood.

I had the pleasure of being on the same scheduled flight as the Duke of Kent from London to Belfast on Wednesday evening, presumably taking him to attend these events.
How interesting it was to observe him and his small entourage board and disembark the plane, and during the flight! And how much I would have loved to sit beside him and ask him some of the things I've always wanted to know about the BRF!
Not much chance of the latter sadly

The Duke of Kent had a number of engagements in Bristol today, April 2. He inaugurated the Bristol Sikh War Memorial and Remembrance Garden at Bristol's Castle Park, visited the University of Bristol Botanic Gardens as well as St. Peter's Hospice:

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent this morning presented The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service to University of Bristol Botanic Gardens, Stoke Park Road, Stoke Bishop, Bristol, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the County and City of Bristol (Mrs Peaches Golding).

His Royal Highness this afternoon attended a Blessing of the Saxon Well of St Edith of Wilton, Castle Park, Bristol.

The Duke of Kent afterwards unveiled a Memorial to honour Sikh soldiers who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars, Castle Park.

His Royal Highness subsequently met members of the Normandy Veteran Association at the Garden of Peace Memorial to Bristolians who died in the Normandy landings of the Second World War, Castle Park.

The Duke of Kent later officially opened the new In-Patient Unit, St Peter’s Hospice, Charlton Road, Brentry, Bristol.

The Duke of Kent, Grand Master, United Grand Lodge of England, this morning presided at the Annual Investiture of the Supreme Grand Chapter at Freemasons’ Hall, 60 Great Queen Street, London WC2, and afterwards attended a Luncheon at the Grand Connaught Rooms, 61-65 Great Queen Street.

His Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, The Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin and Halton Regiment), this afternoon received Lieutenant-Colonel William Adcock at Kensington Palace upon relinquishing his appointment as Honorary Colonel.

The Duke of Kent, Colonel-in-Chief, The Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin and Halton Regiment), also received Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Ruggle (Commanding Officer).

Chief Warrant Officer Matthew Colbeck (Regimental Sergeant Major) was present.

The Queen, Sovereign of the Order, accompanied by The Princess Royal, Grand Master, was present this morning at a Service of the Royal Victorian Order held in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
The Duke of York, The Earl of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent, Prince Michael of Kent, Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy and Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence were also present.

Afterwards The Queen gave a Reception at Windsor Castle for those who attended the Service.

His Royal Highness afterwards visited Queensferry Lifeboat Station, Hawes Pier, South Queensferry, and was received by Mr Valentine Tudball (Deputy Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh).

The Duke of Kent this evening attended a Dinner given by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution at Cannonball Restaurant, 356 Castlehill, Edinburgh.
