Praying to the Almighty already ... really .... that Letizia must be quite a handful !!!

This means, that when he kneels for the service next year, there will be the white letters "H" and "E" painted on the underside of his left shoe, and "L" and "P" on the underside of the right ?

Or praying that Letizia doesn't have skeletons in her closet and doesn't turn into 'Mabel-gate' a la the Dutch controversy!

That too.

Although for the life of me, all I can remember is that its only the British and Dutch Royal Houses that waltz from on scandal to the next.

You forgot the Grimaldis -- they've had their fair share of scandal. I imagine that some of the other royal houses curtail potential scandal before there is barely even a slight breeze. And I think the Dutch royal house has only experienced scandal the past couple of years, with Margarita, Maxima and now Mabel ... hmm ... the root of all Dutch scandals of late begins with the letter 'M' and at the same time, the majority of future crown princesses have names that also start with the letter 'M.' ... Something about this letter?

There was also Prince Bernhard and the Lockheed funding scandal wayback when, and although not exactly a scandal but still not the best of news Prince Claus was in and out of treatment for depression.

Back in Queen Juliana's time, as I seem to recall Lockheed was caught out by US authorities engaging in bribes to overseas clients in connection with acquiring work, and one of the last to be caught was Prince Bernhard. It - the investigation - caught a lot of prominent names in Europe.

18 NOVEMBER 2003
Newly-engaged Crown Prince Felipe hosted Europe's most eligible future queen, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, during her visit to Madrid.

The young princess was in the Spanish capital at the weekend to present the first-ever Queen Kristina of Sweden business prize alongside Prince Felipe. The royal pair awarded two global clothing stalwarts – Inditex, parent company of seven chains from Massimo Dutti to Zara, and famed Swedish chain H&M.

But it wasn't just business that was the topic of the day: the Prince of Asturias received warm congratulations on his engagement to TV journalist Letizia Ortiz from both Crown Princess Victoria and hundreds of well-wishers who gathered outside.

And before the prize-giving, Swedish ambassador Lars Grundberg also took a moment to recognise the historic betrothal, asking for a round of applause for Prince Felipe, "who, at last, has found his Princess of Asturias".

When might Letizia begin accompanying Felipe on his royal engagements? In Spain does one have to actually be married into the royal family first before they can represent the royal family, or as a fiancee will Letizia 'do'? Like in Mary's case, she is Frederik's fiancee and already accompanies him one the occasional duty, but not all of them. Can we expect the same from Letizia in the coming weeks before the wedding?

Felipe has a much full agenda (he has engagements almost every day and sometimes more than one in a day) than Fred (from what i see) so it's normal that people note more the absence of Letizia. As you see there wasn't any kind of event in Felipe's agenda just like the ones that Mary attended with Fred: a state visit, a concert, a movie premiere (i think that were this ones). So, Letizia could not appear :P Now that a new year is coming (and there is a new agenda that will be presented, i belive, in the end of this week to the press inside the palace) and the wedding became near, Letizia and Felipe will appear more. And yes, Letizia will only be able of represent the royal house after the wedding, when she became a member of the royal family

I'm sure he accepts every gift but I'd be wary of accepting gifts from Gil. Hasn't the guy been in jail before for financial irregularites? Bad company.

Gil was never in jail, i belive, and the last time i've something about the subject, he was clean in court of all accusations. I think that they are still some ones in court, in Marbella. People could not like him, but until the veredict, he's inocent and the bigger accion holder of Atlético de Madrid, and was in that condition that he went to Zarzuela, as owner of one of the most prestigious spanish soccer clubs
