I like Letizia's suit at Prado and her overall look yesterday. Gray is the color this fall/winter. I don't like her today's dress, another Verala dress with little imagination .

Thanks for your post LaCM, we have to go back to Cesar that to belong to Cesar: the Princess of Asturias always beautifull that never!

Thanks too for your comment about the felipe 's choice of shirt and tie because you are it's always letizia who is in the eye of the huricane for her wardrobe and never her husband.

It's an incredible sexist attitud because the man can make fault of taste, can wear unapropriate shoes with unapropriate outfit and can wear shirt which dosen't match up very well with the tie. May be it's the case today because a striped outfit with a striped shirt: hum! more a tie with square motifs: difficult!... May be it's a Jaime of Marichalar advice... As all the question of taste it's difficult to discuss, we like it or nor, isen't it?

-----------------------------------

About the Princess of Asturias outfit of yesterday, I would to give justice to her because in fact it was an absolutly adecuate and very refined outfit.

As the fotos given, not very numerous, concerned principally the princely couple behind the directory desk during a speech, we didn't see nothing.

But with the shots of today we can saw the total outfit which is absolutly superb because very refined of simplicity, absolutly well cuted which is not very easy for a striped ensemble and mainly very feminine despite the dipolmatic striped tissue choosen.

When you watch at pics of this event with the Princes standing up surrounding by people you can see how the princess of Asturias was elegant.
About her face not very enjoyed, it seems to me, after to read the content of the event that it wasn't especially funny and that the Princess could find it a little moving.

More in any case, it's acceptable to say that letizia is unable to support two consecutive days of work as a Princess because she isn't accostum at that since her birth, when we know the amount of work that she have done to obtain her different scolar/university and professionnal results that we know. More it's totally irrelevant to say that, isen't it?:study:

I think she looked very relaxed and full of energy most of the time. There were some acts which are more serious (ex. the visit to the Basque and Prado) and lots of pictures were taken when she was listening to the speeches, thus we saw her serious look.
Her hair is terrible, messy bangs, too dark (Letizia looks the best with blonde highlights), no layers to give volumns. She has a couple of days off next week, a visit to the hair salon is a must.
Letizia's hair and makeups doesn't look perfect as her TV days, perhaps she doesn't have much help in Zarzuela due to the tight budget. Cristina's makeup (or lack of makeup) in NY was quite bad too in the closeups.

Could you name three royal women (Crowns Princesses) at present who, in your opinion, have a much more demanding work schedule than Letizia, more small kids & difficult political situation and yet still manage to look more fabulous on every occasion? I personally don't think it's fair to criticise Letizia for not looking her best when she's got one of the busiest, if not the busiest, schedules amongst the current crop of CPs! It is so much easier to "look great" when you've only got 1 or 2 engagements as opposed to 5 or 6 engagements per week?! I don't understand why so much emphasis has been put on her appearance - she's usually very elegantly dressed but she's had her "off days" just like every other CPs IMO ... I really think we should cut her some slack considering how busy she is most of the time!
Maxima, Mary, Mette-Marit, Rania--also, I much rather go to 5 or 6 engagements, where I sit most of the time and look interested than work 2 jobs, 7 days a week. I don't think it's the same. Also, Letizia does not change diapers in the middle of the night--she must have help: a cook, a nanny or two, etc. I don't feel sorry for her, and, yes, she should look good every day...that's her job!

Not too fond of Letizia's dress today, not for her age, Queen Sofia could pull that one off too.

I very much agree.

TV anchors are looked after every second and wear a different make up, much too strong for every day life, but in theory this experience should have made it easier for her to style herself these days. I find Letizia's make up appropriate most of the times, however, her hair is in a very bad shape.

I'm not at all an hairdo working women specialist, but as a lot of women participants in this forum,I know that an adequate hairdo all day long when you are working is in fact a true problem, in particular when your "job" is an official one of representation which has to be both sophisticated/refined and simple/easy to maintain for a trip day for example.

I don't find at all that the new hairdo of the Princess, shorter, straigh as if the hairs were ironing or passing with a special hairdo material is owful or inapropriate. At the opposite, I find this hairdo sober, clean and effectively not so much sophisticated. But the question is- all the women know that- for the maintain of a sophisticated hairdo ( color, cut and so on) the necessecity to have a lot of time to do that. Look at the Queen Sofia, or at the Queen Beatrix, they have solved the problem with the same hairdo since a while and a tons of hairspray, in particular for the Queen Beatrix.

I don't know if the princess of Asturias have enough of this precious time to devote to an impecable as an iron helmet hairdo ?

When she was anchorwoman, we can say that her was lovely hair because before all her emissions she did her hair, but in fact it was only an external consideration because if you are watching at this period, she had very often a too fashioned hair cut, sometimes very near as a movie star than a business woman, lawyer and so on. I prefer so much her hairdo of now, may be more boring for the day, but sometimes estupendous for gala dinner - 40 years of W.A. of Orange Nassau). More for special occasions we have seen the Princess of Asturias with fantastic hairdoo: some gals when she was pregnant of Sofia, all the Prince of Asturias Prices and so on...:tonks::tonks::umbridge:

Can you explain a little more this charming negative thaught? May be if you have photoshop could you try to explain better how a black and white dress with a wasp waisted, by the way with a big tight belt isn't for a 35th years old woman?:ron:

Could it be that they are becoming an "old married couple" who are just so comfortable with each other?

I don't say she is always on top of her looks but she always shines and shows her famous vibrancy, despite taking care of three daughters.

My problem with Letizia is - and I have stated that in earlier posts - that I cannot judge her much on her work as I don't see her do any visible work on her own, apart from three or four events since her marriage. She accompanies Felipe, ok, they work as a team but it's always him who does the visible work: speeches, prize deliveries etc, even in fields that would be perfect for Letizia to be occupied. So all I can do most times is judge her on her appearance which has gone downhill when looking back to the beginning. It's her job to look good - something she fulfilled excellently in the past but not anymore, even more important since her role offers no space to do much more.
You have your own criterion for judging which is fine but there are others who do not judge people based on appearance.

I agree that appearance is not what makes a good queen or princess.

Happy to clarify I meant the pattern of the dress, it's a bit uninspired and could easily be worn by a woman of the older generation. Of course Queen Sofia does not have Letizia's body measures

I disagree, she is not a model or a movie star. Looking good is not her job.
