Two things are annoying me about where this thread is currently heading.

1. The obligatory mentioning of Diana. I know Sara & others are big fans but this is now and it seems to me that it is just a subtle way of saying that Camilla isn't as good.

2. The judging of C&C for their smiles. Surely at this point in time the main aim is to lift the spirits of those affected and show that they care. The time will no doubt come in the future when a memorial service will be held for those killed and I am sure that at that time the entire Royal Family will show their pain at what has happened.
No doubt Diana would have sat on peoples beds and held their hands with a madonna like expression on her face but, does that really achieve anything except providing a photo opportunity??

I think there is a slight difference in what happened in Madrid and what happened in London even though both incidents were the acts of terroists and lives were lost in both tragic cases.

As I am hearing from a variety of news sources, the terrorist attacks in London were somewhat expected, though of course this does not diminish the tragedy.

Also, though such incidents are not about numbers, in Madrid the number of lives lost was considerably higher than in London. Of course the life of a loved one lost is devastating to family and friends and it matters little that hundreds of lives were lost in Madrid plus hundreds more injured, while in London the number is about 50 lives lost and hundreds injured.

And if you look at the pictures, it's not just Charles and Camilla or the Queen who are smiling, but also the people they are with, whether it be patients, doctors, nurses or others.

I think, as mentioned, it's more important to note that Charles, Camilla and the Queen visited the patiences so soon after the attack. Remember the public outcry when the Queen carried on with her holiday following Diana's death? No hiding for the Queen or any of the other royals this time. She, Charles and Camilla were right on the front lines meeting with those affected by the attack and those aiding in recovery.

Isn't the point of visiting someone in the hospital is to show that you care and to brighten their day. Of course you are going to smile, you want them to feel better. The patients were also smiling. Comparing them to the pictures of the Spanish Royal Family after March 11 is unfair. There were no pictures taken of them visiting patients. The pictures were only of them going in and out of the hospital.

Anyone who can put a smile on these people's faces after all they have been through in the past few hours.... with all the physical and psychological pain , deserves to be respected and should be praised for lifting up people's spirits and morale !

Look, I've been really impressed with the prince these past few days. I'm usually very critical of him, but, from what I've seen on CNN: his sympathetic words, his appreciation, his compassion- I think he's been fabulous.

He does seem to have improved recently. Maybe Camilla is being firm with him about some of his weirder eccentricities!

Yes, it did seem rather overpowering with that white dress. However, as far as royal hats go, I've seen worse.

Thank you for the pictures mandyy! :)

Camilla looks very relaxed at this occasion. The summer dress looks great on her and paired with the strand of pearls, she is the epitome of casual elegance!

More importantly, she is looking very comfortable in her role as the Duchess of Cornwall. She looks like she's been having a good time meeting people at her various engagements and is comfortable (not necessarily happy, but dealing with it) with the media attention.

I think Camilla has been doing a very good job so far and has taken all the changes in her life in stride. She has been well turned out for her engagements and has behaved in a manner that is respectful of the monarchy and has done a good job in representing the monarchy.
