Crown Princess Victoria's Birthday (Victoriadagen) - July 14: 2002-2006

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
But when there should be a wedding in 2007 in Summer, then they probably won't spend so much money on her birthday.

maybe that's why this year's birthday seems to be a great event:rolleyes:
let's hope for the wedding; I cannot wait to see KCG entering the church in an awesome military uniform while Victoria looks absolutely amazing in her wedding dress, I don't actually care for who the groom would be! :D

Do you think that Carl-Gustav will escort her or will it be Daniel? Does anyone know the protocol for this in sweden or the royal family? I think that is quite common both ways in sweden, right? Anyway will be lovely either way, can´t wait!

I think the King will escort her, due to protocol and all... She is after all a crown princess :)

But in general its common in Sweden for the bride and groom to walk down the aisle togeher, especially if they have been together for a long time and perhaps even have children together.
Because then its really time to stop pretending
And imo its not really 21st century style for the father to give his daughter away to another man. But thats just my feminist side speaking *lol*

Maybe the groom's parents should give him to their Crown Princess :D - after all, he's marrying her job and her people as well...

Hakan Hellstrom looks like Preston from the Ordinary Boys (British band)!

Isn't the birthday is a month away? ;) :D

oh crap, your right! I was thinking her birthday was June 14. Thats dissapointing, lol, I was so looking forward to today.

Do you think Madeleine will be Sweden for Victoria's birthday festivities? I know she made a short trip back to Sweden for her father's 60th birthday, but that's a little different and bigger. Madeleine was supposed to come back this month but June's almost over so I'm a little hesitant. It would be nice if she could be here for her sister's birthday and wear something with ruffles again. It seems to be a tradition for Madeleine to wear ruffles for Victoria's celebrations on Oland.

A trip down memory lane :D (From GettyImages)

In 2004, she opted for a pink coat instead of ruffles, must have been chilly! :D

June ends this Friday so perahps her internship will end then. Princess Madeleine may want to spend this weekend coming in New York and return to Sweden next week. There is no way she will miss Crown Princess Victoria's Birthday.

I´m not so sure about that, I mean it´s not a "special" year this year and not as important as her fathers birthday this year. But we will see soon.

Do you know, who receive this year the crown princess "idrotts" sport-award at Borgholm-stadion? Thanks for help in advance!

This year, the Victoria Scholarship will be shared between biathlete Anna Carin Oloffson (gold & silver medalist at the Winter Olympics 2006) and skier Björn Lind (two time gold medalist at the Winter Olympics 2006)

No birthday interview with Victoria this year - the King has stopped it!

I could not believe my ears when I heard on the radio after getting back home yesterday, that this year there will be no annual birthday interview with Crown Princess Victoria!! This has become a tradition, to have a birthday interview included in the televised programme from her official birthday celebrations at the island of Öland.

I did some online searching and found an article in Göteborgs Posten about it. Apparently the King has stopped the interview this year, he thinks the media pressure has been to great and wants the family to pause... The interview was already preliminary booked with the Royal Court (it's always taped before the actual birthday), and the interviewer was to be Carin Hjulström-Livh, a Swedish TV personality, but now they have gotten a no!

The producer of the show thinks it's too bad, because the annual birthday programme for Victoria also raises money for the Victoria Fund.

The Director of the Press and Information Department at the Royal Court, Nina Eldh, says that it's a lack of time that makes it impossible to make the interview this year (my comment: lack of time?? Victoria has had a very slow official spring & summer, because of those private studies). She says that enquiries from media are pouring in, from press, radio & TV around the world (me: oh, really?! I haven't seen any result from that, have any of you? Whitewash is what it is, mark my words :D).
- The King feels that there has been a lot of inteviews during the spring, and he feels that he needs to pause, she says. (my comment: he needs to pause, but he doesn't do Victoria's interviews, or was he planning to dress up as his daughter for this year's interview? :D I'd understood if it was the King who wanted a break, he's been doing inteviews non-stop this spring, before his 60th, but Victoria doesn't give interviews that often, so every missed opportunity is very apparent)

A small segment from the work of the Victoria Fund, with the Crown Princess visiting a canooing club, has already been recorded (that's also tradition, that they film her visiting one of the projects that has received funds). But there will be no other interview to replace the traditional one.

Strange, strange, strange.... I'm very disappointed and even a bit angry, but mainly confused. Whitewash was the word. We haven't seen an interview with Victoria for a long long time, nor do we hardly ever see any paparazzi pictures of the SRF, and the Royal Family will still be appearing for the birthday celebrations - so one small interview hardly makes much difference...

According to this article, these hush-hush private studies Victoria have been doing lately, have consisted of courses in social science subjects at the Stockholm university. Apparently she has just finnished them, and is now planning for the autumn.

Could this decision change if the people in Sweden raise a stink about it?

I guess the King will not want to have the question rehashed whether Victoria and Daniel W will...or won't be together/get engaged/will get married/want kids/get on well/will wear white for the wedding etc. etc. etc.

I guess you are right. We probably can expect a change in the relationship to Mister Westling. Either it´s over (this interview in Metro makes one suspicious) or they are shortly before an engagement. In both cases it wouldn´t be wise to give an interview. Who would want to talk about hurt feelings? And if an engagement is on the way you just seem (in a few months) like a liar, if you say, that there won´t be one. A woman as interviewer is also more dangerous. She could get faster to the point than Victoria could say her standard sentence ("The day an engagement is on the plan...blabla)
However the birthday interview was always my highlight of the whole birthday celebrations. Especially when Mark Levengood did it :(

As we all know the King does not like to have his parties overshadowed in a year, so maybe he wont let Victoria give any interviews to overshadow his MANY interveiws this last year:p

But I agree with Lena, surly Daniel would come up and if it is serious and close to an engagement she would then seem like a lier in a couple of months and if it is over (you get suspicious when there are no pics of them since christmas) its not something she would want to talk about right now maybe.

I on the other hand hated Mark Levengoods interview, I always thought he came of quite childish:cool:

Didn't Daniel go to the King's birthday dinner? Makes me think they are still together.

What?! How stupid... if they dont give interviews/ are in the spotlight then whats the point of royalty?
No time? For christ sake, take 10 minutes before the celebration at Solliden and let Victoria say something like "the summer has been fantastic" "I want to do my best for Sweden" and so on.... then everyone will be happy :)
Or let her do a live interview at the celebration in Borgholm...How hard can it be?!

I was also surprised there won't be the anual interview, it's like a tradition. I guess, it is really because of Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel's relationship, the King (and perhaps Victoria) might have wanted to avoid any possible questions about her personal life this year, which brings us back to our suspicions.
And sorry, aren't the questions to be asked to the Crown Princess, or at least their theme, prepaired beforenead?

Maybe she got some training in how to clean up a home, cooking meals and raising children as she soon will relocate to Ockelbo and become an ordinary houswife? So Ladies go for CP  :) :D. Will she than go working in a shop if Daniel does not earn enough money?

Yes, I agree with this assesment.
