This was also a morning that offered a dear reunion - for it was the crown princess's good friend and former mentor Jan Eliasson who welcomed her, in his capacity as chairman of SIPRI.
Crown Princess Victoria regularly follows the work of SIPRI - which is an independent international research institute that studies issues of peace and conflicts with a focus on disarmament. SIPRI was founded in 1966 to mark 150 years of unbroken peace in Sweden.

Victoria attends Monaco Ocean Week on 24-25 March.

Svensk Damtidning:
Victoria and Prince Albert share a common interest: water pollution. Both have made pure lakes and seas a heart issue - and now they will have the chance to discuss this face to face.
Albert has invited Victoria to Monaco Ocean Week March 24 and 25, and the court has confirmed that the Crown Princess is coming. International researchers and marine experts will also be joining the week.
Cassandra Tanti, editor of Monaco Life magazine, says Albert is passionate about clean water.
- Sustainability is Albert's main priority. He is very involved in that work, in order to raise awareness of the issue.
Since Albert is hosting, the natural question is: Will Charlene come? The answer is no, Cassandra thinks.
- She is not the type of princess who is so active in such contexts. She has her own foundation that she works with. But I don't think she shows up here. She goes to big galas, but not like this.
Is it because she doesn't like the limelight? Or some other reason?
- I have no idea.
Victoria was the guest of honor at Prince Albert's coronation and he and Charlene were on the guest list when Victoria and Prince Daniel were married in 2010 - and they were then at Albert's and Charlene's wedding.
So now she gets the chance to meet Albert again. In these corona times many big events are troubled, but Cassandra has been told that Monaco's authorities want to stick to their planning to the greatest extent possible.
- They have told the organizers not to invite people from risk areas, but they do not want to fall victim for hysteria, she says.

On Wednesday, March 11, the Crown Princess gave an audience to Professor Carl Folke.
Professor Carl Folke, Head of Research at Stockholm Resilience Centre, informed about the work within the framework of the SeaBOS initiative, Seafood Business for Ocean Stewardship. SeaBOS aims to make the world's fishing more sustainable.

Victoria should have met Andrew Parsons, the President of the International Paralympic Committee, tomorrow at the Royal Palace. It has been taken away from the calendar, so it is cancelled.
And Victoria should have attended at Träprisgalan on 19th March. The Gala has been postponed to the autumn.

The king and the crown princess are completely separated, says Margareta Thorgren.
Victoria has no assignments in the calendar
Her royal calendar has been cleared of all assignments and it is extremely unclear when we will see Victoria next time. This is a historical thing we have never seen before.
In the afternoon, Victoria was expected to accompany the king to The Council of State, where parts of the government would inform father and daughter about the latest state of the corona virus, COVID-19. But now the Crown Princess's name has suddenly been removed from that program point as well.
The situation is uncertain but at this stage the royal family wants to take it safe before the uncertain.
What is the reason for the Crown Princess being removed from the Council of State?
- It is because of the corona virus. Due to the security directives that we have previously issued, the king and the crown princess will not attend meetings at the same time. And of course, this is to reduce the risk of both being infected.
So is there no medical condition or quarantine behind this?
- No. In normal cases, the Crown Princess is included in all Councils of State, but in the current situation we follow the safety directives that we have previously issued with.

I'm sure that Daniel's transplant has something to do with the decision to seemingly isolate the family.

I'm sure that Daniel's transplant has something to do with the decision to seemingly isolate the family.

The court follows the recommendations of the Public Health Agency and all the work events of the members of the royal family will probably be canceled or made as conference calls. For instance, at queen Silvia's calendar is two conference call meetings and a "normal" work event on 28th April. Also the king's calendar has changed totally during this morning.

Victoria's absence obviously has to do with the corona virus. As the heir to the throne, the crown princess is given extra priority - and the court does not want to take any unnecessary risks.
However, that does not mean Victoria is sitting idle. Ulrika Näsholm, court's information officer:
- The Crown Princess, like many others in Sweden, works partly from home. Planning and meetings take place via digital channels, says Ulrika.
The court has previously presented a three-point program that applies as crisis management at the moment. This includes, among other things, that the king and the crown princess should be kept separate as far as possible.
In addition, all planning is taken seriously.
- The royal family's official program is constantly being reviewed. Many organizers of the official program points and events that the Royal Family members would have attended have canceled or postponed efents in view of the prevailing circumstances surrounding the corona center, says Ulrika.
- The Royal states are following the developments and the recommendations made by the authorities regarding the corona outbreak.

Main reason is that they don't want heir get sick with the disease but probably Daniel's transplant has some role on the decision too. Transplatations and medicine not make great things for immune system so corona might be bit more serious thing than for same age men otherwise.

The latter reason seems more important than the officially stated reason, in my opinion, since even in the eventuality of both the king and the crown princess falling ill Prince Carl Philip would be available to step in as the regent.

At this coronavirus crisis time, Victoria has called
Hemvärnet (The Home Guard National Security Forces) on 18th March
Svenska Lottakåren (The Swedish Women's Voluntary Defence Organization) on 19th March
Röda Korset (Red Cross Sweden) on 20th March.

"The Crown Princess thanks Hemvärnet (The Home Guard)
- Last night, Crown Princess Victoria called me to inquire about the Home Guard's support and activities linked to the strains that Sweden is exposed to due to the Coronavirus. The Crown Princess expressed her and the family's great support and admiration for what you, all home defense soldiers, contribute in support of society. You really make a difference, says the Chief of the Home Guard Stefan Sandborg.

Victoria had called also to the secretary general of Cancerfonden (The Swedish Cancer Society)

The Crown Princess shows her support
H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria has long been an important support in the fight against cancer. In a conversation with the secretary general of the Cancer Society, the Crown Princess expresses her participation with the cancer patients who are affected much more by the corona virus.
- We are many who are worried about the new reality that covid-19 has brought. It is difficult to imagine the anxiety of those diagnosed with cancer and their relatives. I think a lot about them and the vulnerable situation they are in right now, says H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria.
People with cancer often have an impaired immune system, for example as a result of various treatments, and according to WHO, people diagnosed with cancer seem to develop more serious medical conditions of the coronavirus than others. Cancer patients are also heavily dependent on well-functioning healthcare.
- It means a lot to us that the Crown Princess shows her support and care in the situation we are in. At the Cancer Society we receive many questions about cancer and covid-19. We are strengthening the Cancer Line to be able to answer all questions and relieve 1177 Care Guide, says secretary general Ulrika Årehed Kågström.
The cancer line is staffed by legitimate healthcare professionals with long experience in cancer care.
Impressed by the hard work
- I am impressed by the hard work that is done by all those who work to support cancer patients at this time, both in the healthcare system and at the Cancer Society and other non-profit cancer organizations, says H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria.

Svensk Damtidning has contacted President of The Swedish Women's Voluntary Defence Organization, whom Victoria called last week.
Crown Princess Victoria refuses to stop being there for the people who count on her. If she can't show up in person, she picks up the phone.
Crown Princess Victoria takes her commitment seriously. Now that the corona virus is moving through the world, however, the dutiful heir to the throne has had to adjust her work schedule. But Victoria doesn't let the virus stop her from being there for her organizations.
In the midst of the corona crisis, she called the Swedish Women's Voluntary Defence Organization to hear about how they are coping with the current crisis.
- It was her own initiative to make a call, says the President Heléne Rådemar.
- She is our patron and wanted to inquire about how we work to contribute to the corona crisis. She was very keen on sharing the information and hearing about how we were doing. She gives us a very big and warm support. It means a lot.
Heléne was very happy about the conversation.
- It was absolutely fantastic. That she personally calls and asks how we are doing. You hear that she is genuinely interested and well prepared. She listens, she takes in the information, she cares. It feels very warm and nice. Her interest goes through the phone, she says.
"She gives us hope"
But Victoria not only asked questions - she also wanted to send a greeting as a patron. A greeting to all the lottas who support society in these difficult times.
- She gives us hope and confidence. This is an exceptional situation. So it gives an extra push that our patron gets in touch, that means very much, says Heléne.

Last Friday Victoria called Pensionärernas riksorganisation, PRO (the Swedish National Pensioners’ Organisation), Sweden's largest meeting place for pensioners.
Crown Princess Victoria paid tribute to PRO's work
Last Friday, Crown Princess Victoria called PRO to pay tribute to the important work we are doing. "The Crown Princess also expressed her compassion for many elderly people to be isolated because of the corona virus", said Christina Tallberg, Chairman of PRO.
Christina Tallberg says that the conversation revolved around how PRO's 320,000 members are feeling and how they are doing in this tough time.
- It was a very nice conversation where the Crown Princess emphasized how much she appreciates all the great work that PRO does every day. We also discussed how important it is to be extra vigilant against fraudsters who try to deceive the elderly in the wake of the corona, says Christina Tallberg.
PRO.se - Kronprinsessan Victoria hyllade PRO_s arbete

Victoria called also the Chairman of SPF Seniorerna - The Swedish Association for Senior Citizens, a non-profit organisation for all people entitled to any form of pension in Sweden.
Royal interest in seniors' situation
The Crown Princess has contacted SPF Seniorerna to find out how individuals and associations handle the Corona crisis. Congratulations on the crown princess's commitment is gratifying, says union chairman Eva Eriksson.
SPF Seniorerna's Chairman Eva Eriksson has been in contact with Crown Princess Victoria as a result of the Corona crisis and the situation of the elderly. It was the Crown Princess who inquired by phone to find out more about how SPf Seniorerna's members and associations experience the situation, what is being done and how people of all ages are positioning for each other, announces SPF Seniorerna's Press Manager Anna Eriksson.
- I talked about our organization as such and I emphasized what fantastic work is being done in the associations - both now and in the more ordinary everyday life. There is a great deal of human commitment and people who hear about everything from troubled questions to tips on how seniors can get help shopping and get it home-run, comments the SPF Seniorerna's Chairman.
Crown Princess Victoria also emphasized the important role of civil society in times of crisis. The talk was about how society and senior organizations like the SPF Seniorerna can reach and support more people in a difficult time, not least those who risk loneliness.
- It is very gratifying that the Crown Princess is so committed to the elderly situation in the difficult situation we are facing. It was a good conversation and she showed a lot of concern about the quality of life of seniors and the challenges that we have in particular, says Eva Eriksson.

We support healthcare professionals and non-profit organizations with daily deliveries of free food boxes!
When our heroes in health care get on their knees after long, heavy workouts we can't stand watching, then we have to help them. When old and weak cannot go out, we must stand up for them. With our Food4Heroes initiative, we employ parts of the restaurant industry that are otherwise facing bankruptcies and mass redundancies while helping healthcare staff and others in need. Everything is financed by business - simply and completely transparent.
Together with SBB, Food4Heroes was started by Nassos Ikonomou, when he saw an opportunity to start his own business, to avoid layoffs of his staff. When hardly any guests came to the restaurants, he contacted his corporate customers and offered them instead to buy meals for healthcare institutions and non-profit organizations.
How does it work?
We receive financial grants from companies and private individuals who will cover our basic costs of delivering food to healthcare professionals and those in need. We base everything on a self-cost price of SEK 100 / portion with a height for staff costs. Every money that comes in goes directly to food out. Should there be any kind of surplus, it will also go to new portions or direct contributions to aid activities.

The City Mission, a restaurateur and a real estate company are the trio behind a project that helps isolated Södermalm residents get food and at the same time keeps the corona-crunching restaurant industry on their feet.
- That we go together and close up for each other, it is hoped that it will last, says the pub Nassos Ikonomou.
The trio behind the food project for omaka - Property company SBB Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget, restaurateur Nassos Ikonomou, who among other things runs Café Crème on Östermalm and The City Mission St Paul on Mariatorget.
The idea is that SBB purchases food boxes from Nassos at cost price. The food boxes are donated to the City Mission's St. Paul, which then handles the distribution. Only two days after the idea was born and the people involved talked to each other, the project was ready to be launched. Last Thursday they started.
"Everyone involved is now part of a chain of people who want to help to do something meaningful and help each other, says Erik Holmberg, site manager at City Mission St. Paul, located on Mariatorget.

Victoria was working at Stockholm City Mission.
In plastic gloves and with the white apron over the black polo shirt, Victoria made sure that today's 130 food packets of chicken and rice or potatoes were made in order and then delivered.
An act, and a decision to volunteer, which has caused many to become a little extra warm about the heart.
- The Crown Princess is our patron, and she got in touch the other week to find out if there was anything she could help with, says Maria von Sydow, communications manager at Stockholm City Mission.
- Meeting place St Paul is one of our open activities, and usually there are many elderly people who come there - insofar as they have a home - but now with the corona they need to stay home. So the Crown Princess came here today in the morning and helped to prepare the lunch boxes. She is a tremendous asset to us and very nice to work with.
- And the 30 elderly who couldn't come to St. Paul had their boxes delivered home, and the Crown Princess actually put in a special greeting to each of them.

The royal court at its website about Victoria's volunteering.
The Crown Princess volunteered at the Stockholm City Mission
On Monday, March 30, the Crown Princess visited Stockholm City Mission on Mariatorget to help make food boxes for people in homelessness and vulnerability.
Every weekday, the Stockholm City Mission's meeting place St Paul distributes food boxes to people in homelessness or financial vulnerability.
Many of the City Mission's volunteers are older and themselves at risk and therefore cannot help the business right now. The Crown Princess therefore went to the City Mission to help.
The food boxes are distributed on site or delivered to people who, due to covid-19, can no longer come to St. Paul.
- I feel like so many others in the community, that I want to do something and then it feels good to be here with you today. It is important that we who have the opportunity try to contribute and help in the ways we can. We can make a difference together, the Crown Princess told the staff at St Paul.
The Crown Princess is a patron for the Stockholm City Mission since 2010.
The royal family and the covid-19 pandemic
The royal family is keen to show their support for the efforts made in different parts of society to fight the covid-19 pandemic.
Through conversations, digital meetings and visits, the royal family informs themselves about how the pandemic affects Sweden.
Visits are planned on the basis of current recommendations and with an effort not to unnecessarily use the time and resources of the operations.

Crown Princess Victoria helped make food boxes
On Monday, March 30, the Crown Princess visited Stockholm City Mission's St Paul business on Mariatorget. The Crown Princess came to help make food boxes for people in homelessness and vulnerability.
It is blowing and snowing outdoors and it is really cold when the Crown Princess comes in through the door in St Paul.
Patron of the Stockholm City Mission
The Crown Princess is the patron of the Stockholm City Mission and wanted to help prepare lunches for the people in homelessness and financial vulnerability who come to St. Paul every day to eat. For the elderly who, due to the risk of infection, can no longer come to St. Paul, food boxes are prepared every day that are picked up by volunteers who then hand them out.
- I feel like so many others in the community that I want to do something and then it feels good to be here with you today. It is important that we who have the opportunity try to contribute and help in the ways we can. We can make a difference together, says the Crown Princess to the staff at St Paul.
Make food boxes in the kitchen
The first thing the Crown Princess and the staff do is to wash their hands properly. Then they start working in the kitchen to make everything ready for 11 o'clock when St Paul opens for those to come and eat.
Until lunch, the Crown Princess helps with most things like dividing the food into boxes, making and serving coffee, packing the boxes to be picked up by the volunteers to be distributed to all the elderly and packing nuts in small bags as the participants who come to St. Paul are going to get. It is important for everyone to keep a distance to reduce the risk of infection and everyone in the kitchen is aware of it when working.
Send with greetings
Everyone who comes to St. Paul today receives small greetings from the Crown Princess couple. The Crown Princess tapes the greeting on each box and also ensures that all boxes distributed to the elderly receive the same greeting.
As the clock approaches 11, one of the Stockholm City Mission volunteers comes in to pick up food boxes to be handed out. The Crown Princess is ready quickly and picks up a bag from the kitchen.
- I have been a volunteer since Vinternatt opened and when I received an email that volunteers were needed for this job I signed up. I had a bike and now I come here every day, pick up boxes and bike with it to the same person, says Katrine Konar and receives the bag from the Crown Princess.
Victoria and Daniel's greeting (nice that Daniel is included at the greeting, although he couldn't be there)
"Today we had the pleasure of packing your meal. Hope it tastes, take care of yourself!"

Nice gesture but they all should really have their hairs in nets and be wearing masks while preparing food.

I realized that Sweden isn't reporting crazy numbers of COVID-19 cases like the rest of Europe but they should still be cautious imo.

I agree with what you are saying Alisa. I admit I'm only familar with the risks and the social isolation practices where I live. It was wonderful to see Princess Victoria, one of my favorite royals pitching in to make food boxes for those in need and as usual she appeared to be enjoying herself.

Aftonbladet visited Stockholms Stadsmission (City Mission) a day after Victoria.

The city mission's food saves the elderly and the poor
In corona times when the elderly cannot get to the store - then Stadsmission comes home with food boxes for them.
In the boxes for home delivery, classic pork steak with salt cucumber, potatoes and capers cream or pasta penne with buffalo mozzarella, arugula, roasted pine nuts and tomato sauce is served today.
The food is prepared by Crème in Stockholm, which is run by Nassos Ikonomou. He lost 80-90 percent of his turnover through the corona pandemic.
The restaurant has survived thanks to a collaboration with the Samhällsbyggarföretaget.
SBB charges 100 food boxes that Nassos supplies to non-profit organizations, such as Stadsmission and the Salvation Army. The project is part of Food For Heroes.
- This keeps us afloat. We have not had to dismiss any staff, he says.
The head of the site Erik Holmberg site hopes that the initiative will spread.
- We are trying to get other organizations to cover other districts in Stockholm.
The day before Aftonbladet's visit, Stadsmissions St Paul was handed a hand in the kitchen by the Crown Princess - the patron of the Mission. She loaded food into the boxes and made coffee.

- I feel like so many others in the community that I want to do something and then it feels good to be here with you today. It is important that we who have the opportunity try to contribute and help in the ways we can.
That day, all diners received a personal greeting from the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel on white cards that the Crown Princess couple had signed.
A surprise for someone for several isolated elderly people, with some royal shimmer in a life that might otherwise be perceived as dark.

On Tuesday, April 7, the Crown Princess held a digital meeting with representatives from the Swedish Parasport Federation. The agenda included a discussion on the postponed Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
This summer, the Paralympics 2020 should have been held in Tokyo. With the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic, the games have now been moved to 2021. During the digital meeting, the Crown Princess was informed about the consequences the decision will have for the parasports.
The participants also discussed how the active Paralympic athletes, while moving the games forward, should be able to continue their work in representing the parasport sport in Sweden.

The Crown Princess in digital meeting with five Paralympians
Due to the corona pandemic, Crown Princess Victoria held a digital meeting with five Paralympians and representatives from the Swedish Parasport Federation. The purpose was, among other things, to talk about the consequences the pandemic has for the athletes.
The Corona pandemic hits the sport hard and several competitions have been cancelled or moved forward. Tokyo Paralympics are no exception. The games that were to be decided this summer will now be decided instead in 2021.
Against this background, Crown Princess Victoria participated in a digital meeting with five para athletes and representatives from the Swedish Parasport Federation on Tuesday. During the meeting, the Crown Princess was informed of the consequences the decision will have for Swedish Paralympics. The participants also talked about how the Paralympics should be able to continue to represent the parasport sport in Sweden.

En kväll tillsammans - En hälsning från kronprinsessan Victoria _ SVT Play

Victoria said:
"Sweden and all of us who live here are in a situation we have never been before. The situation is serious. It is difficult. But it is not hopeless. We will get out of this, too, though the price for very many is extremely high in the form of human losses, lost jobs or lost life's work.
In this difficult time, you are many who step forward with heart and care. I think of everyone in the fields of healthcare and care and all of you who in different ways help us get through the crisis. I want to thank each and every one of you.
Let's take care of each other. We are in this together and we will get through it together."

Victoria is a great speaker, very impressive.

Victoria gives a speech on Monday 4th May at Formas conference "Agenda 2030 - Sustainable change on a scientific basis", which is held digitally. Isabella Lövin, Minister for Environment and Climate, and Deputy Prime Minister, gives the opening speech at the conference.
"We have ten years left to reach the global sustainable development goals and are facing major challenges. All the actors in society must contribute in order for us to succeed. But do we have the knowledge needed and how do we ensure that knowledge is translated into action in society?"

Victoria said at her speech among other things:
Some time ago I read a fascinating article about how vaccine researchers from different countries are collaborating virtually now in the covid-19 pandemic.
The boundaries may have closed. But the knowledge, it travels fast around the world. And generously shared.
This is how a Swedish researcher said in the article: “For us, it is generally about being first with no result and being able to publish data in finer journals. But now we have passed it. We have a problem that needs to be solved. "
Just that: We have a problem - that must be solved.(...)
Like many others in our country, I have had the privilege of growing up by the sea. And it has probably helped to build a strong commitment with me to sea issues.
That is why I have felt it a great advantage to be part of the SeaBOS - Seafood Business for Ocean Stewardship initiative.
It is therefore about the world's ten largest fishing and seafood companies, which has cropped arm with researchers at Stockholm Resilience Center to create a more sustainable fishing industry. For example, through better catching methods and reduced use of antibiotics in fish farming.
And I really want to emphasize how important the researchers have been to enabling this collaboration. They are not an "extra feature". Without them, they play a crucial role.

Crown Princess Victoria's strong message: "Is an emergency"
Crown Princess Victoria is passionate about environmental issues.
When she participated in a climate conference on Monday, her message was clear.
- Unfortunately, we must say that we are now in what is, or will soon be, an emergency for the planet.
Victoria, who likes and often engages in environmental issues and specifically in matters relating to the marine environment - gave a speech during the conference. She linked to the corona crisis and global work to fight the virus - and called for cooperation.
- It is said that the need is the mother of inventions. That's probably the way it is. But the need is also an extremely strong driving force for collaboration, the Crown Princess said in the speech.
She said that it is important that companies that invest heavily to convert their production to more environmentally friendly must be assured that it is done on a scientific basis, by independent researchers. She highlighted the SeaBOS - Seafood Business for Ocean Stewardship initiative, which means that the world's ten largest fish and seafood companies together are trying to get better fishing methods and reduce the use of antibiotics in fish farming.
- I really want to emphasize how important the researchers have been in enabling this collaboration. They are not an "extra feature". They are playing a crucial role, Victoria said in the speech.
She pointed out that there is a long way to go before the global sustainable development goals for 2030 are reached.
- But, just like with the corona virus, this is a problem that must be solved. There are simply no alternatives.

- It is said that the need is the mother of inventions. That's probably the way it is. But the need is also an extremely strong driving force for cooperation. We have a problem - that must be solved, Victoria said, and continued:
- We have seen it historically, we see it in the corona crisis - and we also see it in the work on the global goals. 2030 is only ten years away and, yes, we can unfortunately say that we are now in what is, or will soon be, an emergency for the planet.
