COUPLE TAKE BABY HOME

Prince Edward and his wife Sophie have collected their baby daughter from hospital - 15 days after she was born by caesarian section.

When asked who she resembled, Sophie pointed to her husband and said: "She looks like him."

But the couple refused to say if they have yet named the child, who was born a month early.

She weighed just 4lbs 9oz and was transferred to a specialist baby unit.

But last week she was said to be putting on weight and doing "very well".

The baby was delivered on November 8 when her mother, the Countess of Wessex, was rushed to hospital.

The Prince missed the birth as he was on an official visit to Mauritius but flew home immediately to be with his wife and child.

The baby, who is the Queen's seventh grandchild and eighth in line to the throne, was born at Frimley Park hospital in Surrey.

Shortly afterwards she was taken 35 miles away to the neo-natal unit at St George's hospital in Tooting, south London.

Sophie, who had to wait six days to see her again, went home last Wednesday.

As she left hospital, she described her daughter as "wonderful" and said she was doing "very well".

Happy family together at last

From the BBC - Royal baby girl leaves hospital

The baby of Prince Edward and his wife Sophie has left hospital, a fortnight after her premature birth.

The girl, not yet named publicly, was delivered by emergency Caesarean section and has been cared for at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey.

Sophie was rushed there by ambulance after suffering cramps at her Bagshot Park home on 8 November.

The earl and countess came back to the hospital together on Sunday to finally take their daughter home.

Edward emerged from the hospital at about 1115 GMT with his daughter in his arms and his wife by his side.

The family posed for press photographs, while patients and hospital staff looked on.

The couple declined to answer reporters' questions about what the baby would be called.

But Sophie said: "She looks like him," and pointed to her husband when asked who their daughter looked more like.

Very nice pictures, Martine.

Has it been said how much weight the baby put on since being delivered?

And why was Sophie not holding her daughter?! After all she went through?

Royal baby leaves hospital

The Earl and Countess of Wessex have finally left hospital with their new baby more than two weeks after the child's birth.

Sophie said: "She looks like him," and pointed to her husband when asked who their daughter looked more like outside Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey.

But they refused to tell reporters the name of the baby, who was born by emergency caesarian section a month prematurely on November 8.

The Earl cradled his baby daughter in his arms and showed the sleeping infant's face to photographers while his wife stood smiling at his side.

The couple were cheered by staff and patients as they walked through the hospital foyer.

Asked how she felt to be taking her daughter home, Sophie, dressed in a chocolate brown coat and pink scarf, said: "It's the best day ever."

Edward was asked if he would be changing the baby's nappies, and replied: "Not now."

Edward and Sophie posed for pictures outside the main entrance of the hospital for just a couple of minutes because of the cold and driving rain.

The Earl then strapped his baby into a carry cot in the back of their dark blue Rover 75 and the couple drove off to their home at nearby Bagshot Park.

They ignored questions about the baby's name. It is understood they have chosen names but that they must be approved by the Queen before being made public.

I haven's heard anything about the weight...

I thought mostly they keep baby's in the hospital till they are 3kg or so...but she could not nearly weigh that much cause baby's lose weight right after the delivery...

She really looks small but cute

Still no name................I begin to wonder if they ever gonna give one

Also, it was confirmed that The Queen and Prince Philip did pay a private visit to see their 7th grandchild last Sunday. I can't wait to hear the name of the baby and I can't wait until the christening of the new royal.

I think, and hope, that the name of the baby will be announced sometime this week. Yet, they (the Royal Family) might wait until the christening to announce the name. Name wise, I'm going for Elizabeth, Mary, or Victoria.

Do you think they will wait so long?Oh no...
When will the christening take place? How old were the Queen´s grandchildren when they were christened?
It would be nice if the christening would take place around Christmas at Sandringham. There would be the whole family together.
BTW,who do you think will be the godparents of the little girl?

Probably Sophie´s brother David and perhaps Prince Charles.Because there were the big argument between them about filming William at university,it would be a great sign of reconciliation.

I think christenings of royal children take place a month or so after their birth (I'm not sure of this). I know that Princess Eugenie was christened at Sandringham a couple of days before Christmas. I don't, however, think that they will wait that long to announce the baby's name.

A British newspaper, although that might not be credible (I think it is).
