To Mandy

Nice to see this pictures. In my opinion the new Empress gave stability and intelligence to the royal Court. The Shah needed a woman who was ready to take him in his white revoloution ...

Hi Sol anglada you seem to know quite well about this couple, I would like to know how many years differences in age between Shah Reza and shahbanou Farah, on the pictures she looked much younger than him. Her wedding gown looks wonderful, I guess the beads on it are precious stones.

Wedding

Hello, aristocracy member ...

When the Shah married Farah Diba he was 41 year old, because he was born in 1918. The new Empress Farah was born in October, 14, 1938, so she was just 21 years old. The wedding took place in December, 21, 1959, in Tehran.

Farah Diba has got to be one of the most beautiful woman of royalty. She just gets more lovely with age.

both alive or what?

In my opinion Farah Diba is not only the must beautiful royal but also one of the must beautiful woman.

it amazes me why she's become such an ideal to you,if you look at the shah's previous wives you'll find that both Fawzia and Soraya were much more beautiful than Farah, besides she was never considerd beautiful among iranians

thanks...I guess she is not much older than princess shahnaz (I just looked in to a thread about her).

For sara1981: Empress Farah is still alive (and one of the 3 Empresses remaining in the world, with Empress Michiko and the last wife of the Vietnamese monarch).

The Shah died in 1980, in Cairo.

Well, I think we can gibe our opinion. And my one is that Empress Farah has been the most beautiful Queen during the XX Century. I respect yours, of course, because this is very subjective and personal.

I would love more information on this wedding. Emperess Farah looked so glamorous -- does anyone who designed her dress or which diademe she wore?

tha name of the designer was posted before, it was ysl.

The Tiara Farah wore was designed by Harry Winston and the jewels she wore were the crown jewels that "rarely left their vaults". The Tiara weighed nearly two kilos. Her dress which was designed by the house of Dior was embroidered with Persian motifs in silver thread, sequins and pearls (imitation of course). The designers also sew a hem with blue so the "the good fairies would at last give the King the son he so desired"

This is the link to a video, that has clips of the Shah, his marriage to Farah Diba, the birth of the longed for heir, the coronation, the celebration of persepolis and the revoltion, the family in exile and the funeral.

In the background is a persian song which is played

Nice video, Queen Malka. Even if Repulicans argue that monarchies are a waste of taxpayer's money, they do know how to give the public a good show that no Hollywood director could ever produce. The splendor, the majesty, what a show it is!

I agree that she's only gotten more elegant and beautiful as the years have passed. She's been able to rise above all the difficulties of her life with class and dignity. She always looked spectacular in the jewels and her wedding day was no exception.:)

Greetings from England, just want to express I believe Sol_Angl is categorically right,, after all ,,,beauty is in the eyes of beholder.. so consider this,,, for us being here at this time and at this age it is an honour to experience all the beauty tangible or other wise that this life has to offer. And lets face it everyone each and one of us has something to be proud of,, so why not our sensibilities.

Thanks for the photos from the empress Farah , is beatiful.....
