Separation of Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana: April 2024

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
They never had a real job in Greece , were they known in Greece and considered as Prince and Princess of ?
Greece is still a Republic.
The decided do divorce , it is their choice.
Hope they will be lucky in their new life. Having no Children , it is easier.
What do you mean by rear job? A 9-5 activity? Rich people rarely do..
Nikolaos is external consultant and he is working with his Axion Hellas association, providing general assistance to isolated Greek Islands.
Tatiana launched her Association and is very active with young Elpida and Hellenic initiative.
They're both Prince and Princess (unless she is until her divorce) even if Greece is a Republic.
Royal titles are not lost. Same like all the other European ex-Kingdoms.
We hope that since they decided to divorce, life will be better for both.

They were a very beautiful couple. I am very sorry that they have decided to divorce, but only they know the reasons, and they have the ability to decide.

That said, I would like to raise a topic, just out of curiosity, about the statement from the Royal House.
The Royal House does not talk about "divorce", it talks about "dissolve their union".

In Spain, I understand that dissolving would refer to a Catholic marriage, in state or civil laws it is always divorce.
"Dissolution" would be that the Catholic marriage is annulled and in the future they could remarry by the Catholic rite. In Spain, (catholic mariage) a person who is divorced but whose marriage has not been annulled by the Catholic Church, could remarry civilly, but not by the Catholic rite.
In order to be able to remarry in the Catholic rite, they would have to annul, resorting to the ecclesiastical courts, their catholic marriage. The causes are established by the Catholic Church. Not having children makes it easier to annul the marriage, because a cause of annulled of catholic laws is , to have not been consummated the marrieage.

I ask: Is this like that in the Orthodox Church? I know it is very similar but I don't know the details.
And, the use of "dissolve their union", is it because since there are no children in the marriage, this is also a cause of dissolution of the Orthodox marriage?
The announcement says...".. dissolve their union".

:previous:This is not so. The Catholic marriage, is annulled, it is not disolve .

Catholics consider marriage indissoluble...In order to remarry by Catholic rite, the previous marriage must be annulled, this is difficult...

The Orthodox accept divorce from the first marriage, however, they accept that the divorce is a sin, but there is the weakness... therefore they allow the person to marry a second time, but the rite of this marriage is not same. But they can perfectly marry a second time by orthodox rite...The ortodox marriege is not annulled, it is dissolve.

In orthodox rite you can marry in Church up to 3 times. For more... you go to the CityHall.
Yes I noticed also the expression in the GRF announcement. But I thought it was a more delicate way to talk about the end of a marriage.
Greek press now reports that Nikolaos has a relationship for more than one year with an Athenian socialite .. and Tatiana also has someone in her life.
Who knows...

This is surprising. Who is this woman with whom Prince Nikolaos will have a relationship?

I wonder whether they waited to announce the dissolution of their marriage until after a certain amount of time after the death of their father(-in-law) had passed and the important memorial services had taken place.

If the media reports I have seen are representative, the Greek news media generally refer to the couple as Nikolaos Glücksburg and Tatiana Blatnik.

Tatiana Blatnik also seems to be the name Tatiana most often styles herself by.

Tatiana launched her Association and is very active with young Elpida and Hellenic initiative.
They're both Prince and Princess (unless she is until her divorce) even if Greece is a Republic.
Royal titles are not lost. Same like all the other European ex-Kingdoms.

While some European former kingdoms, such as Germany and France, have permitted their ex-ruling families to retain their titles, other former kingdoms including Greece have stripped their ex-ruling families of their titles.

The ex-royal family of Greece indirectly acknowledges this on their website, where they explain that their claim that they are entitled to royal titles is rooted in the 1815 treaty of Vienna (an odd explanation given that the kingdom of Greece did not yet exist in 1815), implicitly recognizing that it has no foundation in present-day Greek law.

Did Tatiana attend the memorial at St Georges Chapel for her late father in law?

What I see is that, in Greece, unlike France or Germany, the divorce of Prince Nikolaos for many media, for others with more negative thoughts, Glücksburg, for others "the son of the ex King, is of great interest, including the causes ...I think this does not happen in France or Germany where the divorce of a member of a foreign Royal house may be of interest, but yours arouses less interest.

I don't think Prince Nikolaos and Tatiana have new relationships at the moment...I think it's the Greek media trying to claim that they knew when the reality is that no one knew. ....However, it is true that we are wondering when? And why? And we look at the photos from the past with a magnifying glass, to see when this happened, including the person with whom they appeared in photographs...
For example, this photo of Queen Anna Maria and her son caught my attention in London. Now it's like that photo has another meaning. Now look at another detail, on Prince Nikolaos' little finger he continues to wear his wedding ring.

Or for example, the photo that MC published at Christmas, where Tatiana was not there

I think this news indeed confirms that Tatiana was not celebrating Christmas with her husband, her mother-in-law and her brother-in-law and his family. Her absence in the picture wasn't because she was taking the picture...

The separation of Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana is the cover theme of this week's Point de Vue.

Vanitatis was able to confirm, through a spokesperson for the Greek royal house, that Tatiana will continue to hold the title of Princess of Greece and Denmark after the divorce.

Yes both of them have been very active in Greece and far more of a presence than the Crown Princely Family.

Is Princess Tatiana still wearing her wedding ring?

The Spanish media says that they have spoken "with a spokesperson for the Greek Royal House (who has no name), This is not true.
I have been noticing that the media uses social media followers of the Greek Royal House, as "Spokespersons of the..."

These people are not spokespersons for the Family, the press tries to portray them as such, to try to monopolize the news, and this is not the case.

On the recently published website of the Royal House, there is a question referring to all those nameless spokespersons who use the media to have the perfect excuse.
It says: "Official and accurate information is released by the Royal Family solely via this website and its Private Office (noted above)"

Only the Website and the office can speak on behalf of the Royal House, the office has not spoken, what's more, according to the Greek media, they do not respond and limit to the statement.

I have to say that the followers of the Family do not present themselves as spokespersons, it is only the press that says about them that they are spokespersons.

I agree with you Stef. Andreas Megos has published the link to the Website, for this reason.

Prince Nikolaos was wearing the ring in windsor, as I posted the photo, but Tatiana, as Frelinghighness says, was not wearing her wedding ring in Windsor. If this had any meaning, it would be that Nikolaos did not want this outcome, but Tatiana assumed that she could not continue with this marriage.

We are all trying to find the precise moment of decision. It is true that she was not at Christmas with Nikolaos, she was not in the photo, but on December 13, she was at the Nikolaos photos exhibition in Athens, where she shared a video taking photos of her husband in front of one of his paintings. Queen Ana Maria and Princess Alexia were present at this event. I don't know what to think, but I think this decision was very recent.

Now, as we know we can interpret many signs... afterwards.
An example: Tatiana wishing happy birthday to Nikolaos. Nice words.. but nothing personal or love related..

@Lipe what photo exhibition December 13th are you talking about? I didn't find any Tatiana's post about.
It was an exhibition In Benaki Museum at least 5 years ago, with almost all the family except CP Pavlos family and Phiippos. But last December? I don't recall.

As from keeping her title... I'm not a specialist of Royal uses and laws. But isn't the chief of the Royal House (CP Pavlos for instance) who has solely the authority to decide? Or can Nikolaos decide? No idea.
I know that when Ernst August of Hannover divorced Chantal Hohuli he let her the use of titles (maybe not the use of HRH but the title of Princess) but he is the chief of RF.
Here.. no clue.

I found it, in the Facebook group, the Greek royal family, the photos are private people published on Instagram, it is on December 12,

Tatiana posted on her Instagram account about this event, I remember it, but in the stories section. She posted a video, she was taking photos from Nikolaos, I remember it...but I can't find the video. I found this screenshot of the video, but I can't find that short video now, it was from the stories section.

Please post news and information about current events in the relevant current events and news threads and not in this extra thread about the separation. A number of posts have already been moved yesterday and so have a number of posts been moved today.

Wonder why they divorce. If everything is so harmonic why not keep the Status quo. They live separate lifes since years anyway IMO and no new partners.

I mean harmonious.

Given that the governments and citizenry of Greece have failed to dissuade Pavlos and his family from calling themselves Princes and Princesses despite imposing legal and social consequences on the family, I very much doubt that private citizens such as Pavlos or Nikolaos possess enough clout to prevent Tatiana from continuing to call herself Princess if she wishes, though they could certainly express their opinion. However, since the separation seems to be an amicable one and Tatiana primarily refers to herself as Tatiana Blatnik in Greece in any case, I suspect she will respect their wishes, whatever those may be.

But in this case they should continue live in a lie. This is not fair for anyone. Also implying if they find a next harmony and new love.. to keep it secret. Infeasible.
The fact they they might have done it for a while (maybe related to King Konstantine's sickness and passing, or maybe because they needed time to think and decide) doesn't mean they should do for ever.
If definitely they are not well together they should continue apart. Especially when no children to harm.
