Princess Johanna of Hesse (1936 - 1939) and Alexander Alexandrovitc were so young when they died!:( What happened to Johanna? And how old was Alexander when he died?

Princess Johanna died of meningitis. She was the last of her family: her father, mother, two brothers, unborn sibling and grandmother were all killed when the plane they were travelling to London for a family wedding flew into a factory chimney in Belgium in 1937. Johanna's mother was Princess Cecile, a sister of Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh.

wow in that last picture, maxima (im asssuming the little girl on the right) looks a lot like her eldest daughter catharina-amalia, and maxima today looks a lot like her mom! the family connection is amazing and right on target!

Well I agree about Maxima and her mom (the resemblance is uncanny) but Catarina-Amalia is a mini female version of W-A;) :cool:

It´s really funny to compare the "crown prince" generation as babies with their own kids.
I was stunned as how much Sverre looks like his dad, Haakon. I´ve always wondered who he looked like
Amalia, and actually also Alexia look a lot like their mother, Maxima. I don´t think they look like W-A as a child but I do agree that they look like him more with his looks today if that makes sense hehe. Because I always thought that Amalia was the picture of her dad but after seeing baby pics of Maxima I can see that she resembles her mother much more.
I don´t think that Queen Sofia looks like Leonor at al!!! They don´t have the same features but if you look at a baby picture of Letizia you can see that the pequeña infanta looks like her mother. You just wouldn´t believe it since they seem to have very different faces and shapes of their heads.
