Princess Märtha Louise & Family General News and Information: 2003 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Märtha Louise was a guest at Solveig Kloppen's podcast «Min barneoppdragelse».
VG writes about it:
Märtha Louise has tears when she talks in a new podcast about the nanny who came into her life when she was six years old.

The second article tells also what she said about Durek
Märtha Louise refers to Durek as "bonus dad" for her daughters and is clearly moved when she talks about him.
- It's just been really nice. He is very funny and nice and playful and stuff like that. And he was very much there when Ari died.
However, the princess is careful not to answer too many questions about her fiancé.
- I'm not going to go into what he means and like that, because that will just be big headlines.

Is there anyone who can enlighten us on what they said?

Märtha Louise has given an interview for this week's issue of French magazine Point de Vue. According to the cover she talked about "her vision of love, her marriage, her daughters...", also mentioned is the launch of a podcast in English:

Märtha Louise's building plans for more space at Stabekk have been put on hold until further notice.
She will only be able to process the building application she has sent to the municipality around the New Year. It became clear after the politicians in the planning committee considered the matter on Wednesday evening.
Earlier this year, it became known that Märtha Louise wants to expand her newly purchased villa at Malurtåsen in Stabekk, one of Bærum's most popular residential areas. The property was bought for NOK 18,650,000 in August last year, the land register shows.
The background for the temporary building ban is that a detailed regulation is underway for Malurtåsen to assess the protection of cultural monuments, cultural environments and natural values. Therefore, a temporary ban on construction has been put in place.

So, if I understand correctly, all extensions etc in the area have been put on hold. ML just happens to have bought a property in said area and is therefore affected by the temporary ban.

I'm surprised they didn't know such plans were on the table before ML bought the house.
Such zone-planning don't usually occur out of the blue.
So either her agent didn't do his homework.
She chose to ignore it and hope her status would help her get a permit.
She got the house at a reduced price and hoped her status...
She knew but went ahead anyway and someone reported her.

These are true and kind statements on International Women's Day.
But what I miss a little when it comes to Märtha is that, in her position as a member of the royal family, she would have had every opportunity to stand up for women's rights. It is well known how much women in such positions can achieve internationally when they publicly commit themselves to an important issue. It's a shame that she didn't take advantage of this. That's why I can't really approve of such statements by women who had every opportunity to really do something for women's rights.

"On Saturday, International Women's Day is celebrated around the world.
In this regard, Princess Märtha Louise (53) attended an event at Nova Spektrum in Lillestrøm on Friday.
There she spoke to TV 2 about the tough teenage years, her relationship with her daughters and why we still need Women's Day in 2025."

"– But I can't live on 160,000 kroner a year. Then I have to earn my own money. It was a huge dilemma, because no one had done that before me. In a way, I've been the first all along. I think I'm one of the few in Norway who pays taxes happily because I'm allowed to earn my own money in the way I love to work, she says with a smile.
Thus, she began reading children's fairy tales on NRK, before finding her passion in spirituality, which led to a storm of criticism. But that was not where the criticism against her began, according to the princess.
– When I was a teenager, I listened to everyone else, what they thought I should do, how I should be. All I did was be nice to everyone and be completely exhausted, and not know what I wanted at all, explains the princess, and continues:
– When I found my inner voice, I also dared to do a lot more. I got criticized regardless of whether I was self-destructive and just did everything to please everyone else all the time, and in the end I thought that then I might as well stand for something and actually do something that was important to me. Then it's fantastic after many years to stand for it.
The princess finally began to embrace her spiritual side, which many frowned upon. She wonders if things would have been different if she had been a prince instead of a princess.
– If the Crown Prince had been the firstborn and I was the second male, I wonder if I would have received as much criticism or suffered as big consequences. We need to talk about women's rights and what it's like, she says."

Märtha Louise is selling the house she has owned since 2003. The asking price for the home is set at NOK 20 million.
She has owned the home in Lommedalen since 2003. At that time, she paid NOK 8.8 million for the property.
The house originally had a usable area of 250 square meters, but after the purchase it was expanded by an additional 180 square meters.

I totally forgot these two existed until I saw the thread trending on the right side of the RFs lineup. OMG, now I have to catch up!

"...But I can't live on 160,000 kroner a year. Then I have to earn my own money. It was a huge dilemma, because no one had done that before me. In a way, I've been the first all along. I think I'm one of the few in Norway who pays taxes happily because I'm allowed to earn my own money in the way I love to work, she says with a smile...."

I checked that 160,000 Norwegian Kroner is in United States Dollars today $15,428.08 according to the “Open Exchange Rates”, so for this time I agree that whatever she is doing to supplement her income is fine with me as long as she doesn't become a problem to her royal family.

You see, even after all my jokes in the past I do agree she has the right to figure out life outside the palace's budget. Now on that husband of hers, what reincarnation timeline is he on this year since I left this thread back in 2024?

:previous:
You hear remarkably little from this couple lately, apart from the disputes over the recently bought house and the current sale of the old house.
I am still waiting on their Netflix series about their life as a couple and their wedding, not that I would want to watch it, but puzzled that it still hasn't been published.

Märtha Louise advertising her house on instagram:

Advertisement/ Now we are going to sell. Our house in Lommedalen has been the best place for our children to grow up. It is where we have had the most peace and quiet, recharged. So close to nature, but still not so far from Oslo. And with Bærums Værk right around the corner. It is in this house that we have had the funniest parties, the nicest conversations, the deepest meditations. Our ups and downs. We have enjoyed the local area with nice trips both on skis and on foot, and it is at the neighboring stable, Stall Eide, that the children learned to ride. The slalom slope in Lommedalen was used extensively and even though we do not golf, the golf course is close by (with a very nice toboggan run in the winter). But there is a time for everything, and we are all looking forward to new people experiencing this fantastic house to live in. Finding the same peace and quiet, the same joy of watching the children play in front of the house. Finding a place they can call home. Sink into the chirping of birds and lower your shoulders every time they drive past the waterfall below the house on the way home. We are all looking forward to meeting you. You can see the sales..

Real estate agent Ståle Ask Helland of Sem & Johnsen is handling the sale of Märtha Louise's house. He says that interest in the princess's residence has been enormous.
– The interest has been absolutely extreme. The number of hits and interest in this home is 100 times more than what is usual for such properties in this area, says Ask Helland.

Märtha Louise has completed the mediation meeting with the sellers of the home she and Durek Verrett bought in Stabekk in 2023 on Friday.
– I am happy to be done with this matter, she tells VG.
They won't say what they agreed on.
– We are satisfied. Now we are done with the matter, Märtha Louise tells VG.

Congrats on the sale and that it produced more than what they expected. the 20 million NOK is, per today's Google $1,925 910.23 million dollars. That's a huge profit since the original price two decades ago was 8 800 000.00 NOK or just $847,400.50 dollars.

They made a good profit although I would consider a lot was spent on upgrades, still, it was a great sale.

Problems with Märtha Louise's selling her house:
The advertisement does not state that one of the buildings must be removed when she moves.
One of the buildings on ML's property is a guardhouse that was built in 2006, two years after Märtha Louise moved in. Here she has had 24-hour security from the police escort service (PET).
But the sales statement is missing an important piece of information that is found in the decision that was made by the municipality at the time: Both the guardhouse and the fence around the entire property must be removed when Märtha Louise moves.
"Temporarily approved. The guardhouse and fence must be removed when Princess Märtha Louise moves from the property, or when her need for police protection is no longer present," the document, which TV 2 has been given access to, states.

To be honest, I'm not surprised. My assessment of ML is that she has or has ever had very little to do with the realities of life. She actually lives in a different spiritual plane after all. It might be difficult to deal with things of practical life and forget to mention this or that. This is shown by the examples from the past, unpaid bills, problems with buying and selling a house, etc. She probably doesn't read the small print in the contracts, or thinks that as a Norwegian princess she doesn't need to. But, I'm sure she'll manage somehow, and if not, her parents will help.
