On 20th December 2002, prince Laurent of Belgium (°1963) became officially engaged to miss Claire Coombs (°1974), a British born surveyor, who'se been living in Belgium since she was three.
The couple met at the house of a mutual friend, where they were invited for dinner. Afterwards, Claire and Laurent started talking to each other, when they were doing the dishes together!
They had been spotted together quite some times, and everybody was waiting for them to make it official. Which they did on the afternoon of 20th December, together with their families in the royal greenhouses of Laeken castle.
Afterwards the engaged couple and their families attended the traditional Christmas concert in Brussels.
