Felipe VI, Letizia and their surprise walk: a central neighborhood, a cinema and a bookstore

Queen Letizia hit her right foot and the doctors, after the relevant tests, found a fracture in the proximal phalanx of the right central toe, so she will have to wear sports shoes for several weeks.

Other than attending with the king, queen Letizia hasn't had that many solo acts since late March.

Her solo schedule was reduced during the month of April coinciding with the change in her work team. They have probably spent more time on office work to organize the activities of the coming months, since the new head of her secretariat had not worked for the King's House before.

Yesterday she had a solo event where for the first time the new head of her secretariat accompanied her, today she has another solo event and the annual cooperation trip has already been announced for the first week of June.

Yikes! Yet another blow (no pun intended) to her foot issues.

Regarding, her supposed reduced work schedule wouldn't the logical thing be to have the new oncoming team work alongside the off-going team. That way they could see how things are done and have a smooth transference and limit the interruption of the Queen's work schedule.

The Head of the Secretariat is in charge of organizing the agenda and the content of the events, so the priority would be for her to know the internal functioning of the House and to know all the organizations with which the queen works and what the planned activities are for the next months. It is more of an office job, documentation and organization.

In the development of the events, the head of the secretariat is in the background, those who have the weight of the organization are those in charge of protocol, press and security and those have not changed, and they have years of experience to help her.

Thank you for the description of her Head Secretary. My point was that there should have a smooth transition so that the work is not halted. Perhaps the incoming head secretary could have had some on the job training before the new one heads out. Organizations do this all the time.

I'm curious as to why the change? Retirement? Are the Head Secretariat limited to years of service in the royal household?

Officially there is no time limitation. The high positions of the King's House such as the Head and the Secretary General do change from time to time, and 10 years have already passed since Felipe's accession to the throne. The team of these 10 years had already been working in the palace for a long time and many had reached retirement age, it was time for a change.

Sofia kept the head of her Secretariat for many years, even when he was past retirement age. Zulueta is still 63 years old, he could have stayed a few more years but on the one hand he has been working in the palace for decades and perhaps wants to retire now, and on the other hand, the House needed to introduce more women into the senior management organization and it seemed logical that this change start with the queen's team.

I wonder if the Spanish Court will release a photo to mark the 20th Wedding Anniversary of Felipe VI and Letizia?

Casa Real are not known for really thinking outside the box or being Social Media savvy but it would be rather nice.

Not sure but there will certainly some press material for 10 years on the throne anniversary later in July.
The Annie L. photos are to be published at some point as well by Bank of Spain.

I had forgotten about the Annie Leibovitz photo shoot!

Publishing a photo to mark an anniversary is hardly thinking outside the box

They did nothing for the queen's 50th Birthday which was a milestone and it took them years to update the site with new photos and even now most of them are outdated.

Felipe VI and Letizia celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary with family portraits

The Royal House has released a series of images taken in the gardens of the Royal Palace in which the Monarchs pose informally, together with Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, in celebration of the two decades since their marriage in the Cathedral of the Almudena

The 'Campo del Moro', the gardens on the west side of the palace, where these pictures were taken is open to the public daily. So, if you are in Madrid, you can visit them between 10 am and 8 pm. The gardens on the north side of the Palace, the Jardines de Sabatini, can also be visited daily from 9 am to 8 pm.

Is it inappropriate of me if I want CP Christian to marry Sofia? :D

I think the pictures are lovely. I like that they are very much “family” photos and not “state” photos. There is no sense of protocol in who stands where or with whom!

I liked how everyone’s personality seemed to shine in the photos. As much as I really want a formal portrait of the Princess and Infanta in ball gowns and jewels, it’s nice to see the playful and fun side of the family.
