King Baudouin (1930-1993) and Queen Fabiola (1928-2014) of the Belgians

A video (in Italian) from Baudouin and Fabiola's visit to Pope John XXIII, in June 1961:

Fabiola was pregnant, as it is mentioned in the video (it would be the first out of her five miscarriages, sadly)

Well well well indeed. We were told 'all' was left to the Queen's Charity/Oevres de la Reine.

I recall the Spanish family complaining about paintings. As it is going to be auctioned in Spain I imagine that it must be the Spanish relatives who are selling.

This auction comes on top of the auctioning of some of her jewels too. In a documentary we saw Villa Astrida is now in a family foundation as well.

It seems that instead of the charity much went to the Spanish relatives. Although that is perfectly normal I don't see why it was necessary to lie and mislead the public by saying that all would go to the charity.

I believe prince Lorenz was said to be in charge of this all?

Makes one think what else has been left to her Spanish Family and why this didn't end up with the Belgian RF
The first Belgian queen,Louise D'Orléans I believe was a great great- great granddaughter of Philippe II, Duke of Orléans

The beautiful painting was originally the property of Fabiola's father Count Mora( source: Noblesse et Royautes) It was inherited by Fabiola probably upon the death of her mother Dona Blanca.

It seems more than reasonable to me that the painting be returned to the family it originated from.

It is very reasonable indeed. What is not reasonable is that at the time -Fabiola was still alive- the Belgians were told that everything would be left to charity, which clearly is not the case. Why lie? That statement was made due to outrage over tax evasion and the creation of various foundations by Fabiola, to funnel money away to Spainish relatives without paying tax.
