Some parent's think it's cute when their children don't behave. They may simply pick their battles with their kids. Them acting up in church is not a problem , some think they are children let them do whatever. I don't feel that way they need to know how to behave period.

M and C often look nervous and intimidated around Leonor and children pick up on that and will run rings around the parents. I suspect that they have given into her today regarding wearing shoes as well to avoid a tantrum. It's not doing her any favours as I'm afraid that other people won't view her behaviour as cute and mischievous but rather as bratish and ultimately that is their fault and not the child's.

It was lovely ceremony. Perhaps a little more special day considering it was Madeleine's and Chris's 5th wedding anniversary (how time fly). Adrienne behaved very well throughout the ceremony. She has very beautiful eyes. Leonore needs some schooling asap but perhaps she gets overexcited when in the room with so many people and new things around? I definitely dont envy her parents because they always get critizesed because of her ;) Oscar on the other hand looked too lifeless/passive, perhaps he was also sick like his sis? Alexander and Gabriel looked cute but that outfit on Alexander, not so much.

I have a feeling you might be right. I think that M & C give into Leonore a good bit. Maybe she needs a new days stay with Aunt Victoria and Uncle Daniel to help her straighten out. And personally, I do not find this behavior cute or endearing, I find it very distracting. There were several times even the Queen looked to be thinking "oh dear".

Normal kid....who knows how long they had to stand there.

Exactly :flowers:
All this (unfair) criticism of a young child makes me very uncomfortable. Leonor is obviously a very spirited girl, which is a good and healthy thing imo.

Nice to see the Haga sisters all together. Pss Desiree is wearing some wonderful green (emerald?) earrings.

it seems that two of the three halfsisters of Chris O'Neill are also present.

Chris has 5 half sisters: 2 on his maternal side with whom he is close and 3 on his paternal side with whom he is not close as evidenced by the choice of godparents.

Leonore has shown this behaviour from a very young age in different situations. It might however be partly due to the cameras. Queen Silvia clearly isn't happy about it (look how she is searching for Leonore on the group picture) and Chris and Madeleine hsve apparently decided largely ignoring it is the best course of action but I'm quite sure they ferl bad about it as well.

Thank you to all those who shared the photos, videos and information from today. ?
Little Adrienne is a beautiful baby; and I agree that she resembles Leonore. Madeleine's children will all grow up to be beauties and break lots of hearts, that's for sure! Nicolas has interesting features, I can't tell which side of the family he looks like the most. It was really sweet to see that he brought his little blue rabbit to accompany him to the christening.

I agree, when a child is so active like Leonore, the best thing is to not attract too much attention and just ignore them; even though it's hard for everyone involved. I remember in a previous photoshoot (I think from last summer), Estelle could be heard saying to Silvia "she always runs off" when there must have been a discussion about Leonore between the two at the time. Leonore definitely has a lively personality and that's who she is; hopefully she will settle down when she is older, since she's still young at the moment.

Exactly. I think school discipline will sort her out.

While I am not a fan of Leonore's behaviour, some kids are just like this, very active and restless, but M & C don't strike me as Mr & Mrs Consequence. BUT: It's easy for family nobody to discipline their children but just imagine a tantrum meltdown in front of the cameras in case of the SRF, maybe the cameras play a part in Leonore acting up.

I fully understand Queen Silvia's looks and that she is not happy about this.

It must be hard for parents to discipline children in front of a crowd and some children notice and use the situation to act out. They are masters in finding the best possible moment to stop listening. Disciplining now might cause much worse.

As a child Madeleine with her constant antics and pulling faces was seen as a bubbly, charming and outgoing child by the public but she's later told about how she was very uncomfortable and even scared when facing the crowds. Her acting out was a way to cope with the pressure of being on show. I wonder if it could be the same for Leonore.

He is so close to his maternal sisters that I mistakely missed that they were half sisters. I meant that two of his paternal half sisters were there.

I actually think the Queen is quietly cackling with glee at fate giving Madeleine a child as unruly as she was. I’ve seen videos from 1980s where Madeleine is behaving like Leonore now and the King and Queen were equally powerless with her. She turned out fine.

I like how Madeleine wore flowers in her hair. Were the various flowers a symbolic choice?

Little Alexander and Gabriel have my full attention, such adorable chubbies and smiles
Too bad it was so hot some of the guards fainted

If you look at the video all the kids (except maybe Estelle) were up and moving around...Lenore just happened to be the most active. You can tell Maddie was annoyed but I mean really..short of removing her from the service there wasn't much they could do. Cameras everywhere!

Following Royalty for some decades by now I cannot remember one single royal kid behaving like that - so this IS new indeed. What a difference to Vic. and Daniels children!
Anyway, I haven´t seen a single public appearance (photo calls, christenings) this little girl could be kept in line or behehaved like the other children. No judge, just an observation.

:previous:
Totally agree with you and in seeing how she misbehaves all the time makes me wonder what she is going to be like when older, wanting her own way now can lead to bigger acting out when a teenager or adult.....not good now and mom and dad need to discipline her now.

If you looked at the video, you know that Estelle wasn't at the christening at all.

The family photos on the steps were not the best.
So many faces were not visible. It was a nice Christening with it's share of entertainment. The little boys were all very obliging but funny to see busy Leonore, the wardrobe malfunction of poor Maline Sommerlath, Estelle suffering illness and the soldier collapsed on the ground. Perhaps the day was too hot.

Just watched the whole christening, what a lovely service!
I just love Prince Alexander! He did a bit of walking back and forward to Silvia which was really sweet I thought.
Prince Nicolas was also well behaved I felt.
As someone who teaches 4 year olds I have to say that I imagine Leonore rules the roost at home. Please remember this is not a criticism, just an observation. No matter how many looks or quiet words of warning from her parents she carries on regardless, she knows she is the boss!
Adrienne is a beautiful baby, she looks so like her sister at that age.

acting up in church is not a problem?? If they can't leanr to behave in church, its a pretty poor showing IMO.
Yes some parents think it is cute for their children to misbehave. It isn't

it doesn't mean it is acceptable. Prince WIlliam behaved awfully years ago at Andrew and S's wedding.. I think that since then generally in the BRF young children who act as bridesmaids or pages have now not been left in the church during the wedding, so that their misbehavour is off camera....
I think the queen was very annoyed at Will's bratty behavior back then...
