Last Hours, Death, Transfer from France, Funeral and Interment

Yes, it was. Given the masses of people who came to London, it became obvious that the journey from StJP to Westminster Abbey was too short.

    Future York Weddings

In response to earlier comments.... the Queen doesn't even attend all the weddings within her own family, so why would she attend TPB's? < ed irrelevant comment: Warren > And I agree that TPB does not belong on the balcony.

    Hasnat Khan

I agree. I read that it was actually Dr Khan who insisted on no one knowing about the relationship. He did not want any media attention whatsoever and I respect the man for that. A lot of men would have killed to be in his shoes, and for the world to know about it.

I admire a woman who's willing to admit it! ...and ditto!

William and Kate: engagement and relationship rumours and musings 2005 - 2008

Elspeth, I agree and I would really like to see this reminder posted on ALL the Diana threads. SOME of the meanspiritedness goes beyond defamation and quite often qualifies as pure speculation. And if one disagrees, SOME will label you a wacko, etc. Just my observation. Thanks!

The Late Diana, Princess of Wales News & Questions Thread 8: June 2008- 2020

I think what is ''terrible" is the overt need to continuously put Diana down. Even an innocent list such as this sets off sad commentary.

Did the Queen act appropriately in the days following Diana's death?

Well, BP would have every reason to call it 'fantasy,' wouldn't they. I'd like to hear the nurse's account from her own lips. He/she does not have a PR agenda.

Did the Queen act appropriately in the days following Diana's death?

Roslyn, the point I was trying to make was that we see both scenarios quoted as validation for what the Queen/RF did or didn't do. On the one hand, the RF was grieving and therefore they were too upset to do this or that and, on the other, there was no reason for them to do this or that because...

The Duke of Sussex as Co-Founder and Patron of Sentebale

Mandela had a lot of respect and admiration for Diana and he even insisted on paying his respects at her grave. Now we read about Harry's trip and his feelings regarding Mandela. I find that very interesting... Harry makes pilgrimage to the cell where his hero served 18 years

Princess Beatrice of York Current Events 11: June-October 2008

I agree. I wish I recalled where I read it, but supposedly Diana thought he was a bit much when he wanted her to wear a red outfit for an event associated with his airline. She didn't. :)

    Future Home for Prince Harry

CH may not be the best place. I think William (and Harry) need their own offices and addresses.

Did the Queen act appropriately in the days following Diana's death?

Yes, Elspeth. To a degree he may have been coming to terms with some internal conflicts regarding his relationship with Diana. I just don't think it was intended as a full blown assault. The Spencer's have a long history of service to the monarchy and his nephews are part of that family...

Did the Queen act appropriately in the days following Diana's death?

Perhaps, but if we're asked to cut some slack for a family that Diana was no longer a part of (as we keep reading here), then maybe we could do the same for her brother.

Did the Queen act appropriately in the days following Diana's death?

Charles spoke to the nurse personally. The Queen's inquiry was made through the British Consul's office. It's on page 10 and 11 of the book. I don't know what more I can add to my last comment. I understand that a reason can be given for each issue I brought up, but the fact remains that the RF...

Did the Queen act appropriately in the days following Diana's death?

The boys were a priority, but they weren't the only priority. In Christopher Andersen's book, 'After Diana', he states that both the Queen and Charles made calls inquiring about any royal jewelry Diana may have had with her in Paris. He quotes a Nurse Humbert. Grief stricken?? Or business...

Did the Queen act appropriately in the days following Diana's death?

I realize they are separate issues; I was responding to one of kimebear's comments. As for people not undermining her, well, there I disagree. A good portion of the comments in Diana's threads are negative. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it amuses me that so much time and energy...

William and Kate: engagement and relationship rumours and musings 2005 - 2008

I don't think she is unemployed; whether she's employed to everyone's liking is another issue. I'm sure her parents help her out, but is it so different from some average working class parents helping their children with certain expenses? I'd think it odd if the parents of a young lady dating a...

Did the Queen act appropriately in the days following Diana's death?

Speaking for myself, I have no wish to bash the RF. No one is all good or all bad. But here we are eleven years on, and there are still people who feel a need to undermine Diana's contributions and memory on a daily basis. If they dislike her so much, if she was so insignificant in their...

William and Kate: engagement and relationship rumours and musings 2005 - 2008

I tend to disagree. I think it's been done. One of the reasons cited for William's father's second marriage was the question of expenses he was covering. I even read that he paid for her dental work before they married, which was quite evident in the wedding photos.

I think some of the speculative comments here are in poor taste. What happened to facts and sources?

Did the Queen act appropriately in the days following Diana's death?

Actually, I was referring to statements made here, repeatedly. People admired and respected the princess, yes, absolutely. 'Worship' is a good attempt to trivialize that fact. As for the 'real' royal family, well titles didn't matter in the end as far as the public was concerned, did it? And...

Prince William and Kate Middleton Current Events 5: June-August 2008

Lol! I don't recall if it was Nicholl, but the same was true of the article about the Queen wanting Kate to get a job. After all the nonsense written about what the Queen expects of Kate, the article was concluded with a statement that BP doesn't comment on such things.

Did the Queen act appropriately in the days following Diana's death?

Since most of us are private citizens, I suppose not many. But most of us don't make televised statements either. A move that would not have been necessary had a smaller gesture been done earlier, as in issuing a statement similar to the one I suggested. I've read many comments where the Queen...
