Sigh! Not a huge surprise really!

My sentiments exactly. Nothing about Andrew surprises me anymore. OH! Another story... in and out of the mind. :D

No end to it ! When will it stop ?

It can't stop unless Andrew learns to live within his means.
(And Fergie has never learned to live within his means!)

So...more of the same.

Andrew may have HAD money from whatever source, but when he himself lived up to his income and beyond, and with an ex wife who has very expensive tastes and lifestyle, it may all have now disappeared. Of course he was always known for having generous and very wealthy friends as well.

I dont think that Andrew was extravagant till he married Sarah. But he developed expensive tastes with her and they boht have mixed with dubious poeple to keep up their tastes

And yet Sarah wears the same outfits (and shoes and purses!) over and over again. I don’t think Andrew gives her much of a dress allowance.

Why would he give her a dress allowance? She is not his wife... and she earns in her own right

The Duke of York was seen around Windsor today, December 3*

Is this all he can do with his time? He might have taken a back seat from his royal duties, but surely there must be something more productive he could be doing.

Looking through this thread he has had ONE engagement this year - and that was the funeral of his father. Unless he attended August's christening.

How can he have any engagements? He has been dropped by all the charities he worked with and had to basically announce 2 years ago that he was giving up his royal role. He can't do anything. I think that a while ago, he and Sarah were doing something for a charity during Lockdown and there was a big fuss about it. He is basically not allowed to have any sort of role. If he were to offer his service as a voluntary worker for some charity, he would be turned down

Prince Andrew shuts down social media accounts (article behind paywall)

The Duke of York has begun removing his profiles from social media in response to the announcement last week that he would no longer style himself “His Royal Highness”.

His Twitter account @TheDukeofYork was deleted yesterday and his Instagram account @hrhthedukeofyork has been made private.

Not surprised by the decision to take down The Duke of York social media accounts (apart from private instagram), given that Andrew lost his "military affiliation and royal patronages last week" as well as not “undertake any public duties”. I do wonder why the social media account were not taken down earlier when Buckingham Palace announced in 2019 that Andrew was suspending public duties "for the foreseeable future". Perhaps things were still in the air at that point.

The Duke of York title was mentioned in the Business Question in the House of Commons. Rachael Maskell, Labour MP for York Central has asked a debate on how aristocratic titles using geographic locations are assigned. Maskell also mentioned about the 1917 Titles Deprivation Act and the possibility of removing Duke of York title. The Leader of the House, Jacob Rees-Mogg MP responded that The Titles Deprivation Act 1917 was an unusual classification process instead of "attainting the dukes who were on the wrong side of the first world war". He also added that "territorial designations" are up to the sovereign.

Rachael Maskell (York Central) (Lab/Co-op)
My city of York has developed an interest in how titles are assigned and in how they can be removed from people whose title takes the name of a geographical location. In 1917, Parliament enacted the Titles Deprivation Act to remove a title for the act of treason. Will the Leader of the House make time to debate new legislation that empowers local people to determine the circumstances in which titles are awarded and removed, and reflect on the geographical location from which titles are taken? York has a global reputation not just for its rich cultural heritage, but for the social values it espouses.

Mr Rees-Mogg
The Titles Deprivation Act 1917 is an extremely interesting Act of Parliament. An unusual process was adopted: rather than simply attainting the dukes who were on the wrong side of the first world war, it was decided to use classification. That was a successful means of legislating, although I understand that the successors to the dukes who were deprived could petition to have their titles restored if they so wished. As regards the award of territorial designations, that is a matter for the sovereign.

The BBC articles also mentioned about the renaming of The Duke of York Stakes (at York Racecourse) to The 1895 Duke of York Stakes.

York MP's Commons debate call over aristocratic titles
People in the UK should have a say in whether dukes and duchesses can take on the names of places in their area, an MP has said.

Probably not a good idea to have his name associated with anything pertaining to minors.

I know some tabloid reporters love this stuff, but it all seems a bit pointless for them to print it. Does anyone really care whether Prince Andrew uses Apple earphones, any other brand of earphones, or no earphones at all?! I'm sure their reporters/photographers could find something more useful to look into!

I agree. And is he never allowed to smile again?
