I do think that due to her emotional unstableness Märtha Louise depends greatly on both her parents. She's lucky to have them and I think if it were not for them, she might already be living in California with the shaman. Losing one of them would certainly be difficult and probably lead to her depending even more on the shaman emotionally.

I think whatever she might do would be more of a personal tragedy for her than one for the monarchy. Haakon is the next King, Ingrid Alexandra a promising heir and Märtha Louise doesn't even do royal engagements anymore.

I believe the foolish thing she might do is marry the shaman, move to California and blow all her money on him - and she might do that either way. I think she might listen to both her parents to some extent, but then she also thinks she knows what's right and does certain things that they'd advise her against.

She's infatuated with the shaman, she won't be dissuaded from that; one day she'll probably realize what she has gotten herself into and that will probably be very difficult for her to deal with.

I don't know how much influence Sonja has over ML but I can actually imagine her giving the shaman a piece of her mind lol. ;)

She doesn't have any money to blow, if records are to be believed, but she will certainly inherit from her parents... Perhaps the man is also a vulture. Yuck.

She might like to go to California with him, but what is she going to do with the custody of her children? I don't think the girls would obediently leave Norway.

I too like to imagine feisty Sonja vs. the conman. That's her child (and her grandchildren!). She surely won't let her go quietly.
 
I like that Martha-Louise just purchased a new horse for her daughter, considering her own love for horses. I can't imagine she would leave her girls in Norway and go off to be with the sham in LA. There is nothing ok about the coronavirus, but if it is keeping ML home and away from the sham, good! My hope for ML is that over time she can overcome her Durek addiction, find a more stable, healthy relationship and conventional methods of emotional support. Soon will be the anniversary of Ari Behn's passing. I hope sham stays in LA and ML stays at home with her family.

Not that I think its a good idea for them to move. And I don't like the relationship. But they really have little say if their mother decides they are moving. That's the reality of being a minor. Unless someone could prove the move would be detrimental to the kids, there is no one to stop it if she chooses to move. With Ari passed away, she doesn't share custody with anyone. Her parents could only fight it if they thought her boyfriend was a danger to the kids and the move would not be a safe one.

It certainly wouldn't be the first time the kids lived abroad. They lived in London for two years from 2012-2014.


But hopefully she remains put in Norway with the girls.

As of right now ML is still in Norway, so either the shaman has exaggerated her wish to move to LA or her parents/ daughters have convinced her for now, or she has seen reason herself.

Surely even ML, no matter how much she loves the shaman, would have to see that it's not a good idea to move her children from a country with very few corona cases to one with many. To move them from schools they can attend relatively safely to ones with a danger of catching corona; or worse: to move them only to have to attend online school abroad.

There might be also the consideration of the King's health and moving to the US during corona, she could not just come back and visit him or indeed both her parents, who are in their 80s. The risk of infection would be too high.

The girls cannot prevent her from moving but having just lost their father and considering that they are probably still going through a difficult time, one would hope that she would take their wishes into consideration. Maud will turn 18 next April, so assuming ML doesn't move before then, at least she will be able to decide for herself.

I know she doesn't earn a lot of money, but she must receive money from her parents or she couldn't conduct the expensive lifestyle she does...

Sonja has proven that she can be quite feisty. I don't know if she could convince ML to stay in Norway but I think she'd definitely say something about the shaman's dangerous theories concerning her daughter's mental health and health in general. Or probably already has :whistling:

That's true but I don't think Märtha would force Maud to move to California once she is of age, if she wanted to continue her education in Norway.

I just discovered Maud's IG through ML's post and her arts are quite amazing! She has explored and experimented different types of style and her portrait paintings are awesome! :flowers:

The two eldest granddaughters just respectively inherited the love and talent for sports (IA) and arts (MA) in the family:lol:.

Carina acted as the manager and spokesperson for the school.

ML and her partner Elisabeth Nordeng who were 50/50 partners were 'focussed on the teaching'.

It appears H360 includes a waterproofing product designed for horse equipment, bridles, blankets, clothes, etc. as well as cleaning supplies. Perhaps this is a legitimate product or it could go the way of the "My Pillow" marketed online and on tv infomercials here in the US.

I look at ML on Insta being very happy Maud is so brave and mature...
...and I sometimes wonder if ML isn't living vicariously through her teenagers being levelheaded and sensible, so she doesn't have to be (and can act like a silly, spoiled teenager). :ermm:

Princess Märtha-Louise has gone from a fortune of 4.9 million Norwegian crowns in 2017 to 0 in 2019 with tabloid journalist Anders Johan Stavseng citing her extensive debts as the main reason for her fortune having disappeared. I hope her parents have set something aside for their granddaughters because they're not going to get much from their mother.

The cynic part of me predicts that by the summer of 2021, she will do one of both of this:

Marry someone with money - Durek.
Use her status and title to help earn money - regardless of whether she is allowed to or not.
- There is a third option, which I prefer not to mention here, that's a pretty cynic prediction and very much against the forum rules. But I imagine you can work it out yourselves...
 
Princess Martha Louise currently works on what? What are your sources of income?
How did she lose almost all the money she had in such a short time? I believe that the King and Queen of Norway help with some of the granddaughter's expenses.
I hope that Martha Louise will be able to guide your life.

Does Durek have a lot of money? I know he’s been touted by people like Gwyneth Paltrow but I assumed that he was schmoozing off of ML... seems like it’s the other way around?

I get the sense that she is not a particularly stable person right now in many senses of the word, and is very vulnerable. For all their claims of being madly in love I see the Shaman as little more than a con man or snake oil salesman, and I get nervous that she’s at risk of being taken advantage of, if not by him (because like I said they could be genuinely madly in love) then by someone else with ill intentions. I can’t tell what her family thinks of him- I know that Leah has posted videos with him in them on her TikTok, but is it known what the King and Queen or CP Couple’s thoughts are?

On a positive note, her daughters do appear to be very mature and level-headed, and I’m hoping that they’re old enough not to be swayed by their mother or the Shaman. I’ve been very impressed with what I’ve seen of Maud and Leah (I haven’t seen much of Emma).

It is her "wealth" that draws attention:
2017 - $559,090 in US dollars
2018 - $228,200 in US dollars
2019 - $0

At the time that Martha received Bloksbjerg in 2001 it was valued at $20 million NOK or $2,282,000 US dollars. So sad all that is gone.

I surely hope that her change in financial position is not due to her relationship with Durek. Will his feelings for her change if the well has run dry? Is he really so wealthy? Perhaps this is why she is "forced" to do a reality TV show. I wonder if she had been getting child support from Ari.
 
I really don't think that the shaman has got enough money to pay for the kind of lifestyle that Märtha Louise is used to. ML is one of several examples of royals, who grew up being used to a royal lifestyle and then as an adult, not being the heir, have had trouble financing the way they like to live. She has not pursued the kind of career that could pay for it and she has not married rich - not the first time and as I said, I really don't think the shaman is that rich either.

He probably has a comfortable upper middle class lifestyle or something along those lines but I just don't think that he can finance the upper class life that ML is used to. Yes, he is schmoozing with Gwyneth Paltrow and some other Hollywood people, his "treatments" or "consultations" seem to be expensive, but he is probably not a multi-millionaire.

He doesn't even own a house or apartment. This is mentioned in the Vanity Fair interview, where Märtha Louise says that her Norwegian friends found it strange that the shaman does not have a permanent residence but lives in changing apartments rented via AirBnB.

I think this would also be an issue, even if Märtha wanted to move to California with the shaman (and she probably does), where would they live? She has 3 children who are used to living in a big house and probably each have their own room. The Los Angeles area is expensive...

I don't think the shaman could afford all that ML is used to: a nice house in an expensive area, the horses, the travels, etc etc.

I don't think ML is strategic about marrying the shaman or someone else for money, or even about using her Princess status to earn a very large amount of money. Certainly, she is aware on some level that she should be earning money and she has used her title & status to earn money (though I don't even think that all of this title business is about earning money. I think some of it is also just "I was born a Princess, so of course I will call myself a Princess.") But it has never been strategic and cunning enough to earn her enough money to live the lifestyle that she would like.

I think on a certain level she is simply spoilt and unrealistic, as some royals are. I mean what is the worst thing that could happen to Märtha Louise? Getting into so much debt that after selling her holiday house, she'd have sell her other house as well? Then what? She and her children would probably be moving into Oslo Palace or another one of her parents' estates. Oh the plight of that :whistling:
 
:previous: It's difficult to say what Princess ML's relationship with money is. She was married for several years, did her money problems begin after her divorce? I recall she had some kind of Angel business, a partnership, but that folded. In the past year and a half she's been on a bit of a shaman high with the sham. Neither one of them seem that grounded, who knows what they have been up to regarding money. Usually people with money problems spend more than they make so where has her money been going if the article is correct. Perhaps poor investments? Does she own a home? We do know she has a reality tv program starting next year and also recently invested or at least touting a product to waterproof riding gear as in horses. Speaking of horses, she bought a horse for one of her daughters not long ago. ML is so exhausting. I hope the best for her. I can't imagine her parents will let her go under financially.
 
How wealthy is the Norwegian royal family as a whole?

Did she receive an inheritance from King Olav? Will she stand to receive one once her parents have passed away?

This doesn't surprise me one bit. Princess M L has always lacked seriousness so it's no surprise she doesn't have it together financially.
