Engagement of Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist: June 27, 2014

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I'll need to look at more pix. But I think CP and Sofia kind of look alike. In a similar way Victoria and Daniel really resemble each other.
This is superficial but it was nice to see a royal engagement announcement where the lady wasn't wearing blue.

Yes, I've seen them... Hope they will be removed though

And why should someone's else opinion be removed from her facebook page? We all are entitled to our own opinions and after seeing all those Nude pictures I wonder what the heck is going on in Sweden. Now we have naked porn women as princess...........time for changes in this country are coming.

First of all, I do wish the couple all love and happiness. I have no doubt that they love each other very much.

About the press conference: I've watched the whole thing. I think that Sofia and C-P did very well. Yes, she showed off the ring quite a lot, but the press kept asking her to do so. I think she told the truth when she said that she didn't know that C-P would propose to her that day. But I also think that it was planned by C-P. His parents (and her) knew. The Royal Courts PR-machine are horrible at handling these kind of things, but you can't blame Sofia for that.

I just read Sofia's interview in Slitz in April 2005. I have never seen it before. I'm in total shock. I can't believe that she talked about things like that. I can't post the link here because of the photos but you can surely find it from some forums.

Please do not post any content containing nudity as they will be deleted and are against forum rules.

I like that Sofia will be given time to adjust to royal life before the wedding next year.

Who the heck are you to care. Did you write comments when Charles married Camilla? How will you accept that with her past she is queen. When Andrew didn't marry Koo Stark, but then Sarah? Can you second guess who should marry whom? When Haakon wisely married Mette-Marit, when Friso married Mabel, thank God. And you who come from a nation where anyone can do anything. should be ashamed.

Countess you bring up a good point, that so many of these marriages, mostly of the heir to the throne, have been controversial. Don't forget letitzia, she was a divorcee.
Remember poor princess Lilian, who was not allowed to marry prince Bertillon, she, who is now only fondly remembered, was considered scandalous because of her actress past.

Who the heck are you to care.

But we are on a discussion forum where we voice opinions - which, by their nature, are judgements. Just saying. Gets confusing when the parameters shift when someone doesn't like the opinions. Like the moderator said....

No way am I ashamed of anything that I write or think, I have no reason to be, and for your INF I wasn't here when all the above that you mentioned took place. As far as PC and his now wife..............she broke that marriage up and he was a WIMP for not marrying first, he had no balls so to speak, so he deserves excately what he gets,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Camilla.
You don't have to like what I wrote as the same goes for me and for everyone here, we are all entitled to our own opinions whether we like someone else's opinion or not.:whistling:

RE: replies to P.Madeleine's FB-message
From what i see on other forums, i get the feeling that people are actually trying to shame the SRF into calling of the engagement and not mingling with Sofia anymore.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions, as long as they realize they are nothing less or more than that: personal opinions...

(oh, and please have the decency, even though you don't like people, to use the right names: it's not Prince Carl and King Carl...)

I doubt that anybody has the illusion that 'shaming' will break of the engagement. But it is obvious that many have strong feelings about the matter. Even Madeleine's facebook has a high number of critical remakrs, that were not deleted by the press department of the palace yet (maybe they were off in the weekend, or maybe they will leave them around).

I agree with other posters that over interpreting gestures, looks etc. based on a few minutes of video footage or pictures can be counter productive and may lead to a parallel universe in which this issue is debated. All we know for now is that the king, queen and princess madeleine publicly wished the couple well. Silvia with her arms closed or an apparently short message by Pss Madeleine do not alter that, and they may not mean anything at all.

Yes, I'm very harsh on her and i dislike her very much but one thing is writinng negative comments on Madde's facebook page, another one is pasting links of Sofia's nude pictures....

:previous::ohmy:Oh dear, the media is going to start having a field day in regards to this engagement. Could it be as bad as when the king and that book came out about his partying when he was married? I feel so sorry for Victoria, Madeline and their mother. It's going to be a very long year and I don't feel sorry for them. They brought this on themselves.

Yes I do understand that.......at the time I posted that link, I was in the wrong and should of known better. I since have reread the rules and it was pointed out to me and won't happen again. This is not a dirty forum nor an ugly place as some are. I am sorry if in posting that line has upset you.

Not upset at all:flowers: Actually I meant that it is a bad taste to post th link of that pictures on Madeleine's page.... I mean, it must be really hard for her :ermm:

Good luck to them. I wish them well. Her past isn't ideal but if they love one another they deserve a chance at happiness.

That said, I would really, really love to know how the engagement has been received by the Royal Family. :whistling:

I don't care about press statements. Oh, to be a fly on the wall. !!! :p

It has nothing to do with adjustments to anything. Engagements simply last a longer time than is the use in the anglosaxon world, while not so long ago around a year was a standard engagement length over there.

Prince Carl Philip will wait a year before marrying, Princess Victoria waited one year and 4 months, Princess Madeleine waited 9 months during her second engagement, her first engagement led to a break-up as we know.

I think now the Royal Engagement has happened, it would be really nice if Victoria could treat Sofia as another sister, and show the royal bride to be, what will be expected of her. I think that would make all the difference to Sofia.

Sofia will need a really good couture, and who knows, with the right fashion and accessories, she could become another Jackie Kennedy. I think her hair would look great in an up-do!

Well, having been a fan of Sofia from the get-go, I'm pretty happy that the engagement has occurred. The ring is pretty, but nothing to write home about, she looks lovely and happy and C-P looks like the cat that swallowed the canary. Best wishes to her and congratulations to him.

As for her past...pffft. It means nothing. What I'm interested in is what she can become and she just might surprise all you naysayers.

Rock on, kids!

I really wish this couple all the best. They'll need to stand strong. It's unfortunate that She courted the press so early in the relationship because the "media" has no loyalty.

I think it's possible for her to endear herself to the public but she'll need EXCELLENT pr for that and I'm not convinced the Swedish court is that skilled. However she seems sweet and cp loves her so I hope it works.

Exactly right! :)

He's going to marry her, with or without people's good wishes.

I understand titles for her will be discussed in the Autumn, after a wedding date has been set.

He want's her and nobody else, so be it!

She now has a clean slate, as of 27 June 2014. A blank sheet of paper to start afresh.

I don't believe we will ever know what the Family really think? Unless they come out publicly, via a third party?? But in any case, time to leave the past behind, and welcome her as one of the family.

Expressen Extra about the engagement
Expressen's celebrity magazine EXTRA reveals this week the unknown letter from the king that made that Carl Phlip could propose to Sofia Hellqvist. The prince was forced after the letter to go to a fast race against the clock to succeed in his proposal.
The entire letter from the King in this week's magazine (the paper issue)
EXTRA also reveals details about the love nest with photos about where Carl Philip knelt down and proposed to his future wife.
